In this video, I will be talking about Queen Woo 왕후 우씨 (160-5 - 234) of Goguryeo고구려, a kingdom during the Three Kingdoms Period of Korea 삼국시대. She was the wife of Go Nammu, later remembered as King Gogukcheon 고국천왕, 고남무 (176-197). She subsequently became the wife of his younger brother, Go Yeonu who became known as King Sansang 산상왕, 고연우 (? - 227). She is remembered in Korean history as being an ambitious woman with a strong sense of authority.
Information about her life was recorded around a 1,000 years after her passing in the Samguk Sagi 삼국사기, a historical record written in 1145 during the Goryeo 고려 dynasty of Korea.
King Gogukcheon fought against Han 漢 Chinese invaders, repressed rebellions, passed a grain loan system and found an important advisor and future prime minister named Eulpaso 을파소.
I will then talk about the war between the war of succession between Balgi 고발기 and Yeonu in which Queen Woo plays a major role. Han Chinese troops got involved in this war with the help of Gongsun Du 公孫度, a powerful Chinese general.
Queen Woo didn’t have any sons with Gogukcheon and Sansang. The later, had a son with a commoner who became the next king; King Dongcheon 동천왕 東川王 (209-248).
Finally, Queen Woo was seen as a villain during the Joseon dynasty and I’ll explore why that was the case.

That a woman had to marry her brother when her husband died - was common in many cultures at that time...so nothing special. And that everyone at court carefully pursued his power interests is also completely normal.
The power of women is never as obvious as that of men. It should not be underestimated. Confucius was suspicious and scary, because if you send the woman out the front door, she will gently smile and control everything from the back door.....
I deeply regret it if we do not promote the skills of everyone TODAY, we need them...and I hope so much that one day we will step out of this silly competitive thinking and work together hand in hand in respect and love. A long way home....
i remember her she was a wife of sayu king of gogouryeo if i m correct then her as 1st wife of king geunchogo even buyeo hwa is more deserving bec her and his bro are direct ascendance of buyeo hamusu founded later conquered annex by gogouryeo

This dramas was so terrible I stopped watching it. It was totally unauthentic and over the top. Very disappointing Dramas Koreans drams are usually so much better than this.
Fr man, I don't know how they wanted to cover queen woo history in just 8 episode😂
The costumes in Korean dramas are becoming more and more Chinese. Why are they not traditional Korean costumes?
Those early kingdoms like Gogoryeo, Baekje,Silla and Goryeo was heavily influenced by Chinese. So during this period, most of their clothing was inspired on Chinese clothing. And maybe during Joseon dynasty, the people of Korea makes their own clothing identity but still you can see there is Chinese culture influence on it.
Chinese traditional clothing has had a significant influence on Korean traditional clothing, particularly during the Goguryeo, Baekje, Silla, and Goryeo kingdoms. Here's a brief overview:
Goguryeo (37 BCE-668 CE), Baekje (18 BCE-660 CE), and Silla (57 BCE-935 CE) kingdoms:
During this period, Korean kingdoms had extensive cultural and trade exchanges with China, particularly during the Han Dynasty (206 BCE-220 CE). Chinese clothing styles, such as the hanfu (traditional Chinese clothing), were introduced to Korea through these exchanges. Korean traditional clothing during this time was heavily influenced by Chinese styles, with modifications to suit Korean tastes and climate.
Goryeo kingdom (918-1392 CE):
The Goryeo kingdom saw increased cultural exchange with China, particularly during the Song Dynasty (960-1279 CE). Chinese clothing styles, such as the robe-like garments and dragon motifs, were incorporated into Korean traditional clothing. The Goryeo kingdom's traditional clothing, called "Goryeo ot," showed significant Chinese influence.
Influence on Hanbok (traditional Korean clothing):
Hanbok, the traditional Korean clothing, has its roots in the Goguryeo, Baekje, and Silla kingdoms. However, the modern Hanbok style emerged during the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910 CE). Although Chinese influence is evident, Hanbok has distinct Korean characteristics, such as:
Unique fabric patterns and textures
Bold colors and vibrant designs
Emphasis on simplicity and modesty
Incorporation of Korean motifs, like the taegeuk (yin-yang symbol)
Chinese influence on Hanbok can be seen in:
Use of dragon and phoenix motifs
Adoption of certain garment styles, like the jeogori (jacket) and chima (skirt)
Incorporation of Chinese-inspired embroidery and patterns
However, it's essential to note that Hanbok has evolved over centuries, incorporating various cultural influences, including Mongolian, Buddhist, and indigenous Korean elements.
Key differences between Hanbok and Hanfu:
While both traditional clothing styles share similarities, distinct differences exist:
Silhouette: Hanbok has a more curved and feminine silhouette, whereas Hanfu is often straighter and more angular.
Fabrics: Hanbok uses lighter, more delicate fabrics, whereas Hanfu often employs heavier, more luxurious materials.
Motifs: Hanbok features more Korean-specific motifs, like the taegeuk, whereas Hanfu incorporates Chinese symbols, such as the dragon and phoenix.
In conclusion, Chinese traditional clothing has had a significant influence on Korean traditional clothing, particularly during the Goguryeo, Baekje, Silla, and Goryeo kingdoms. However, Hanbok has evolved to incorporate distinct Korean characteristics, making it a unique and iconic representation of Korean culture.
This drama is so disappointing, this actress is not suitable for the role of queen, her acting is very poor
She’s a good actress but not really for this kind of role as you said.
@@loonytrickyshe is only suitable for playing crazy and murderous roles, she's can't handle other roles 🤷
