  • Stopped By the TALIBAN in Afghanistan 🇦🇫
Today i was walking to the tourism board to get some documents for my next province in afghanistan (Kabul). On the way i was stopped by this young Taliban soldier who wanted something.
After a bit back and forth i was asked to go back to the police station and speak to some major taliban official.
during the whole process i was calm and the brothers treated me well and respectfully.

Afghanistan has gone through over 30 years of being invaded and occupied, with the longest stretch being the 20 year US. They have all the right to stop and ask. The only problem is they're not in uniform.

I mean, speedwalking on the street in a foreign turban and sunglasses in a country where security personnel are on heightened alert for any foreigners because of continual ISKP threats and not providing documentation will get you the result of this video.
Also didn't help the situation by speaking broken Urdu as a Somali to Pashto and Farsi speakers, really confusing the hell out of people. But of course, it's good video content that fulfills the "be careful what you wish for" idiom.

Hater right? Sure. Because this type of police enforcements doesn’t happen anywhere in the world? If this was US or UK he would have been bitten until he complied but yet, the Taliban (“the worst stricter people”) let him walk away several times until he understood and he everyone got involved peacefully until all was solved and STILL they apologised which they didn’t need to because everything was done properly and with no violence.
I’m a wester woman that has gone plenty of times to Afghanistan before the US left and after as well, Taliban always treated me nicely and even sometimes i was stopped at the airport and they ask me a lot of questions but never made me feel scared or uncomfortable. Bless all Muslim Ummah! They are the best in behaviour, promote what is good and prohibit what is bad.

The Taliban wanted to run his name and ID to make sure he's up to board and if they had suspicions, detain him pending an investigation.
You should also have the papers with you at all times alongside passport and that white card they give you at the airport

There're dishonest and ill-intetioned people all around the world, and it's no like they are wearing uniforms with name badges or showed him some ID (in my country robbers will even use full on uniforms to make fake police checkpoints and mass rob people on roads, so even that is not a guarantee).

As a former soldier and a veteran of the war in Afghanistan. I would really love to go back to Helmand province, sangin and nad-e-Ali to be precise. Lost a lot of brothers there, saw a lot of stuff. Did a lot of horrible things. I would honestly love to go back and visit. Help the farmers tend to their fields, help them and give them my labour as a thank you for all they did for us. Guided us around IEDs and told us when the Taliban was around. Although i know I would be kidnapped and held as prisoner. This is the reason i will not go. Unless someone on here can guarantee my safety. I would like to sit down with the Taliban and ask them if they respected us British soldiers for our fighting skill. Because we very much respected the mujahideen for their skill, determination and willingness to fight to the ☠️

People in this comment section are being butthurt for minuscule reasons. Their country has been ravaged by war for more than 40 years. From Soviets to Americans, they had to resist and endure colonial brutality while other countries were prospering forward. They ultimately managed to break free from hegemonic chains and now everyone judging them for being suspicious of someone who doesn’t comply to a local representative of authority. Dude filming was over-exaggerating and playing dumb. He could easily show passport to the man. In Afghanistan, honor is paramount. No one would dare to pull any theft stunt because they can’t live with societal shame. Bare in mind that with all the ruins that Afghans have to rebuild, this kind of incidents is still rare, especially when the taliban guy apologized afterwards for the inconvenience.
If you really wanna see the country for what it is, you’ll see kindness and goodness in these war ravaged people, but if you wanna see them with a mainstream media filter, as in savages and oppressors, well that’s on you.

It actually worked out well because if you went along with him alone, you have no clue where he's going to take you. That could've been the end of you. So it was good a huge crowd formed and they could all walk together with you to where he was taking you and you could translate your story through the crowd so that they could ensure it was a neutral situation. Smart how you handled it. I would've never gone with him alone. That guy just looks mad suspect too, even though it ended up he was just a normal guy doing his job. 🤣
