- I'll walk you through my typical "start of shift" routine that I use to ensure I have a great start to each shift and stay organized.

I know this video is 6 years ago. But this has been so incredibly helpful. I’m a new nurse, and I’ve been struggling with time management. Thank you so much. The shift planner *chiefs kiss*
Hi Crissa...it's an oldie but a goodie! I actually still teach this method in my new grad program, Confident Nurse Academy :-) I am so so so glad it's helped you! Being a new nurse is tough and I am over here cheering you on!! 💕
Thank you Nurse Mo! I have recently subscribed to your YT channel and podcast and purchased the M/S course on your website. I love how you break down each concept in a way that is intuitive and easy to understand. :) As a nurse returning to the bedside, being able to review over this SOS routine makes returning to nursing it a little less daunting.
I'm so happy to hear that! I'm thrilled Med Surg Solution is helping you :-)
Thank you!!! I am a new nurse and super nervous. I’ll listen to your podcast 🏥❣️
I hope it helps you Olha!
Thank you so much, God bless
You are so welcome!
👌👌👌
Thanks for watching!!! 💕
Thanks girl, so many helpful tips
So glad you find it helpful! Best of luck to you!
Hi there! I really like the "shift planner" (patient information sheet) you have that you can just fill straight in, I had a look on your website but was unable to find it?! Is this from your hospital and has a copyright on it?!
Hi Bron...no, this is something I made. If you go to the website, head to FREE and then scroll down to "RUN SHEET FOR TWO PATIENTS." Enjoy!
Thank you!!!
You are welcome...thanks for watching! 💕
Hi, from where I can have this shift?
So sorry for the delayed reply...what is it you are looking for?
So how do you do the head to toe really fast???? I am a new nurse, I am at 3 patients a day but am supposed to end up with 6 after full training is down. I struggle to organize my day, with 3 patients, I can just veryly manage.
I promise you will get MUCH faster at it! The more assessments you do, the more adept you will become. Just keep practicing and before long you'll notice how quickly you can do one :-) Time management improves over time and all new nurses struggle with this, so you are not alone! One of the key things you can try is clustering...before you go in the room ask yourself "What else can I do while I'm in there?" The goal is to do at least 5 things with each interaction. For example...if you're going in to give a medication, can you also do the dressing change, get the OOB to the chair, see where they are with the IS and check I/O? Cluster cluster cluster!! It gets better, i promise!
Where can I get a copy of your run sheet?
It's on the Straight A Nursing Website :-)
www.straightanursingstudent.com
Will you post your run sheet on your website? Please and Thank you!!!!!
Micki Howard Sure, but it has my unit's specific charting requirements...just FYI. Why don't you email me and I'll shoot you over a copy?
Hi Micki...maybe I'll make one without the charting requirements on the side since those can vary from one place to the next :-)
@@StraightANursing Is this available anywhere yet?
Can i get a copy please
Hey there...I don't have copies to share as I'm not sure the charting requirements would be the same at other facilities. It might be more of a hindrance than a help if it's not the same where you are :-)
I do have a run sheet on my website now :-) It's going to be with the "brain sheets"
