Loved this episode with Simbi. Would loved to (Will love to here is take on "Letter" next time! Jino: Jimin Just Blew 'Set Me Free' Out of the Water, With Ab Libs on MCountdown. 🤗 He left some words out & left backtrack (My Humble Opinion). You're right About this being Jimin's Zone..He also Did 'Like Crazy!' *Watching from New⚘️Jersey, USA 😎
Interesting he liked Butter SOO much... haha... I mean, it IS a very well written, produced, and performed song, I really like it, too. But it is really not BTS's creation at all... luckily at least RM was able to contribute to the rap verses that was lacking in Dynamite. And also why Columbia Records was willing to push so much on those 2 songs, bc they got writing and production credits, so they get PAID big time when it's played. But I don't resent those 2 songs (some more purist ARMYs have some unsavory opinions... haha), bc they were well done and also helped moved BTS to another level where people have no choice but to recognize their existence. 2018~2020 pre-pandemic they were big already, but not in the way of Dyna/Butter era with the non-kpop GP (many who turned ARMY)... While it was a confusing time for them artistically (as RM has mentioned), it was still an iconic era for what the songs did, impact, etc. .... my personal opinion... Everything happened for a reason, and there are both positive sides and shadow sides to every event. It's all part of the BTS/ARMY journey, good and bad.
"Ice Cream" pedophile song. Hahaha! Yes, the lyrics were so... ugh... objectify females to cater to men's fantasy... kind of... I get the whole pin up girl concept, it's fine, but the execution with the lyrics... so badly done. Some fans say their songs are female empowerment, but... some maybe, but a some are alsp pitting girls against girls (like I am better than you, so I get the guy?)... Anyways, all those songs, fine... deal with it, but when Ice Cream came along... UGH... wanted to break the TV... hahaha... I really wish BP can do well, which they are in a sense, but really elevate their artistic caliber... which the girls have the talents and popularity... but the songs given to them these last few years... a lot are disappointing to me. The older songs sounded fresh at the time, but the same schtick over and over... and it's not even about recycling... like recycle the same chord progressions and song structures, fine, but at least maintain the excitement, but not only did it not maintain (let alone elevate), it was going backwards for me, in terms of song freshness and development and liveliness. Felt dull and underwhelming. My husband, who's listening to their older songs (thru 2019) more than I did, was actually more disappointed than me... Hahaha... I even asked if he wanted me to get their concert tickets, and he said nevermind... (well, to be fair, personal song tastes also... anyways) And lyrics got even more suggestive (more than before), like... Teddy, is that all you think of the girls?... anyways... Felt like being a bit too desperate... And yes, I prefer Shut Down better than Pink Venom. At least Shut Down was more fresh, and Venmon was just stereotypical BP song, but worse melody and lyrics and choreo (I later found the young female choreographer was highly regarded, so I started to wonder maybe she had very uninspiring song to work with, I mean, the chorus was repetitive and silly "woah woah woah" and "ah ah ah"... I don't care how good the rap was in that song (I agree, pretty good for them), the f-ing CHORUS... it kills everything else... ending was predictable, typical BP song structure, like BB's Bang Bang Bang ending also... Ooh~ I just realized a parallels... YG's song dance-hype ending = SM's belting bridge! It's never fails to exist in the same way in every lead song! Anyways, circling back to Ice Cream... I remember Jino not caring for Ice Cream at the original reaction, but forgot his exact comment. I guess now I know his latest thoughts on the songs. Which, if you were playing some baby-making playlist, why in earth did "Ice Cream" come into rotation? It's completely out of genre (unless some fantasy kink?)... Does that mean... $$ playlisting? For the record, I really liked and impressed and proud for their 2019 Coachella performance. A breakthru for kpop for sure. They did well and I can sense the passion and drive during that era.
if they were given a more conducive environment to come into their own as artists they would have grown so much. they have a lot of untapped potential and talent that's been wasted. i cant even blame them for their lazy ass concert performances bc if i had a discography like that id be yawning into the mic by the time the 5th song's hype dance break part kicks in. idk how they even pull off wearing their stage personas so well singing about the same stuff recycled over and over again during music shows 😭 that's some professionalism right there. i wonder if they have any thirst or greed to be musical artists any more, plus idk how they even put up with teddy's production atp given how he barely tries to step out of whatever niche he's built for them. even his productions for somi are kinda reminiscent of blackpink, esp the lyrics and vocal stylings she's adopted. it's a bit of a drag and i wish he'd stop writing for women because his brand and understanding of "feminism" is cheap and patriarchal. ever since they came out the gate singing lyrics like the ones from boombayah ive been side eyeing the hell out of their songwriting. if these songs are genuinely their jam and they're into it then more power to them but they could've been so much more. i need yg to burn to the ground man i dont even care anymore. they're gonna do the same shit with babymonster too.
As a fan, I'm really really proud of Jimin. His album proves his growth as an artist. And again, his vocals are on-point.
In Face Off, Jimin's feathery vocals to the opening of each stanza and the pre-chorus is chef's kiss.
