As a self-employed person, I believe in "the price is the price." HOWEVER, some of these folks are nuts. I'm a DIY girl, who buys her raw materials in bulk so I know the price points. When I see folks charging $100+ for 3.4 oz of what amounts to essentially scented vegetable oil (b/c even where it's not listed, most body oils are primarily sunflower oil based), I'm flabbergasted. Charge your worth, but don't charge yourself out of business.

I can (and do) make my own body oils/butters, so I'm not willing to pay an arm & a leg in the name of supporting Black business. I don't buy butters/lotions period b/c my skin is super sensitive, and most break me out. But, I'll buy the body oils if the price is right. I'm not a stickler about perfume, unless it's a dupe. I'm not paying damn near the og price for your "interpretation."🤷🏾♀️🤣

Thank you for your transparency Vania. I have bought oils from BSB multiple times. I love them. Their oils are perfumes and meant to be worn as a perfume and not an all over body oil, IMO. They are pricey but the quality is excellent. The scents last all day and the oil formula is amazing. Also, like most fragrances, I found that they get better as they sit and rub them in your skin...you can't just smell most of them from the bottle. Anyway, I like that you didn't tell a small black owned business how to price, but you articulated the possible price barriers for potential customers perfectly. 😉
I have gotten a chance to use most of the oils I bought and I definitely have a few that I really like. BSB definitely has a place in my collection, it just won’t be in excess. I’ll have a few that I really love. And thank you, it was a difficult conversation to navigate 😂😂
The scents do last alll day. And don’t put them on and go to bed, It will have you chocking chile😂😂. Worth the money. But now that I’m thinking of it, I would like bigger bottles so I can use it as a my primary body oil.
The first set is expensive. I agree, respect the business owners price no doubt, but it's definitely out of my price range and I stopped looking on the website because at the time I couldn't afford it. I've purchased brown sugar babes, and they start out strong but don't last. My favorite body oil is karma sutra but I will not continue to pay $100 for a body oil, yes it does last until you shower.

And No we dont ask luxury brands to lower they prices but alot of them are legacy brands, they were built on good craftsmanship that justified their price. I LOVE LOVE the consistency of the canvas beauty body butter. They are very moisturizing and go on so smoothly. I have the Marshmallow Toast and the smell is not really there even on my skin, but I will buy more because of how moisturizing and smooth they are to me.

I got the 1oz body oil sample set from brown sugar babe. I got crème de la creme, cherry bomb and their original cloud 9. The cherry bomb is pretty close and I have the dossier dupe of lost cherry. I agree the crème de la crème is not a dupe of kayali 28 but a nice vanilla oil that complements it well. I really like the original cloud 9 oil. I agree they are expensive I’m glad I got them on a sale not sure I would buy again. However their customer service is on point! I just got an order from body butter bakery and I’m enjoying them so far!
I wasn’t expecting this, but I really appreciate what you said about small companies and their pricing. “We all pay for what we want” “If a product is out of your price range it’s not for you” “Make your price your price and people will come around when they want to” I am a nanny who sets her own prices and I cannot afford to live off of what some other nannie’s can. I actually enjoy the less expensive original body oils by Brown Sugar Babe. That Bad and Bougie and Sweet Thang my goodness beautiful. Also, they have a Lemonade body oil that is great!! The dupes are not worth it.
I have to agree with the general consensus.... Black, green or purple owned.. it's wayyyy overpriced for what u get. I've found greater quality in far less expensive brands. I mean that eith no disrespect..and as always, i truly appreciate your honesty as well 🤗
I really wanted to like Canvas body glaze bc i love the hair serum. The glazes, I've tried 3 they just give a lightly scented, too heavy beeswax. The original donut is great for a teenager.

I have so many and love love to add extra bonus to help my perfume to last long or my on concoction. But I like what you said and love your commentary about these other HIGH end perfume companies, and people in generally be hyping them up and the freaking perfume don’t last past 3-5 hours🤔 really… Canvas beauty my first purchase was strawberry to, it is so STRONG and consistency is so amazing. Now the new scent sis I’m side eying Stormi Steele where is the scent for these. Recently brought unscented which has a scent and me personally stink to me. Lol yes we definitely take a chance but I don’t regret it. BSB is pricey but there is some that I find myself really liking. Stormi IMO should’ve just increased her stock with the old scents instead of adding new ones. Cause there’s still some of her old ones that isn’t back in stock yet. But yes, I love supporting black owned. I love the experience of trying something new. And I will always do it!

I purchased from ancient cosmetics due to the sale they previously had and now I’m thinking I over bought bc of the amount of shelf life (6 months)!!! I truly think I waisted my money…
You know the thing with AC is some of their products last way longer than the shelf life and then some don’t even make it to the 6 mo shelf life. I bought an oil from them in September though and it doesn’t have a shelf life on it at all so maybe they’ve fixed that problem 🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️

Can someone explain me the hype for canvas body glaze? It’s literally palm oil with fragrances. And it’s so expensive! And I don’t believe their claims it’s anti-aging and anti-everything bad, omg, it’s oil - it just locks moisture in your skin! That’s it. And bcs the color is creamy I can assume the oil is refined so all of the benefits are gone. I totally don’t get the hype.
BSB's Girl from Bahia (cheroisa 71) and wild card (baccarat 540) oils are great. Cloud 9 first smelled like absolutely nothing then like a watered down wild card. I waited until they were on sale. Hopefully they will have a Black Friday sale again cuz I'm not paying their regular prices. Price is also the reason I won't ever try Skin Potion
Can we get an update on your feelings on brown sugar babe oils? This is an update from my earlier comment, I originally bought 1 oz of cherry bomb, cloud 9 and crème de la crème. They are all nice, and cherry bomb is very strong and lasts all day. Cloud 9 is a nice sweet vanilla marshmallow scent good for layering. Crème de la crème is no vanilla 28 as you said, but it’s a nice vanilla. I’m just about finished the vanilla and cloud 9. I just ordered another 1oz mini set of my Tribeca (since it restocked), wild card and madam, and a full bottle of caked up. These might be my last ones and from there maybe I’ll get full size of the ones I love.
Yes I gave an update in my Black Friday haul. But I’m also going to do another one next month! I’ll have to try out cherry bomb the next time I order from them.
The Angel of Mine (Angel Share dupe) from BSB is no joke. It got me chased down by a waitress, aways getting compliments on that specific scent. I do the perfume oils by BSB and find that they last a long time and have good projection. Dont get me wrong, I have scents from them that im not in love with, but they do have some really good scents!
I have such an extensive perfume oil collection. And some perform like perfumes. So i probably won’t get those. But there are a few body oils that I have been enjoying

I actually love BSB but I did only get the scents that I liked like Ysl libre intense and TriBeCa and a couple others. I will say that I swear them as perfume oils and not all over. I have the originals and I spray them on top and I literally will smell like it the next day 😂

Its an underlining "gasoline" type of scent to my nose and I just couldn't get passed it! I was super disappointed ad felt like I wasted my money! Canvas in on my radar but idk I'm scuredd lol
Don’t be scared! Canvas beauty is worth it! Try one of her older scents that she been had. Not the new ones. And I understand the disappointment with BSB

I am late to this video and just finding you on TH-cam. I am a niche fragrance lover. And if you know anything about niche fragrances a 30ml bottle will cost you $120 upwards. My fragrance collection is not small 250+ bottles so that should tell you I have no problem spending money on something that's worth the price because I have $400 dollar perfumes in my rotations. All fragrance fans know a body oil is an essential part of the base to help your fragrance stick but it should also be to give you a nice glow/shine and be moisturizing to your skin unless the oil is solely just a fragrance perfume oil. I have eczema and suffer from dry skin so if my body oil isn't moisturizing but just smells good I don't want it!! When I went to the website and I saw the prices my first thought was is it moisturizing? Because if the scent is the only thing giving its not for me. And if its a dupe for something I already have I definitely don't need it if its not adding the element of moisture. Based on their advertising the oils are supposed to be moisturizing, keep your skin soft and provide the scent on its own or be able to be layered with your fragrance. I see everyone in my fragrance groups talking about how good they smell but I rarely see anyone talk about the moisture. For that alone plus your review I will not be purchasing. Especially if its not worth the price point.
The moisture was better than I expected but to me it’s not something I would buy FOR the moisture. It’s something you buy for the scent. Like right now in this cold winter, I’m not reaching for their oils as a source of moisture. But there definitely is some moisture there, just not the star of the show
BsB is a no ma’am for me. They are very overpriced and the scent is like who is this, and canvas beauty body glaze are over hyped. I was thinking Donut would be my favorite but 😒 nope, Eos vanilla cashmere is what I felt donut should have smelled like. But I must say they have the boom marketing.
The donut on body glaze doesn’t smell like donut to me but I like it. However the moisture that it gives my skin is top tier! And I do love the smell of vanilla cashmere from eos!
I REALLY wanted to like the body glaze. Don’t get me wrong, the strawberry smells delicious. I am in the minority but I felt like the texture was super balmy and thick, somehow not sticky to the touch though. I didn’t feel super moisturized either, also it made my skin itch after awhile? I ended up ordering Sugar Cookie from K.Lashaye Naturals and Ayoni Wellness Snickerdoodle and the high shea butter content worked so much better on my skin. Sad I didn’t love it I paid full price for the canvas glazes, but Ayoni has amazing products she is a Nigerian Pharmacist and herbalist! ❤
Quality of these “luxury” brands are horrible. I bought some LV purses, 1 I had to bring back to the Store within 6 months. The other I had under a yr and had to send for a new strap. And they were both expensive. Like for the price why is it falling apart like this!!!?? Quality complete garbage for the price. But the only good thing is they will fix it, I guess🤷🏽♀️

I really wanted to like Canvas body glaze bc i love the hair serum. The glazes, I've tried 3 they just give a lightly scented, too heavy beeswax. The original donut is great for a teenager.

Canvas beauty my first purchase was strawberry to, it is so STRONG and consistency is so amazing. Now the new scent sis I’m side eying Stormi Steele where is the scent for these. Recently brought unscented which has a scent and me personally stink to me. Hello and thank you for your review on Brown Sugar Babe products bc I been 👀 those products for awhile now… the only precaution that I have is shelf life! I purchased from ancient cosmetics due to the sale they previously had and now I’m thinking I over bought bc of the amount of shelf life (6 months)!!! I truly think I waisted my money…
Store your products in the fridge. It will extend the shelf life.
You know the thing with AC is some of their products last way longer than the shelf life and then some don’t even make it to the 6 mo shelf life. I bought an oil from them in September though and it doesn’t have a shelf life on it at all so maybe they’ve fixed that problem 🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️

Can someone explain me the hype for canvas body glaze? It’s literally palm oil with fragrances. And it’s so expensive! And I don’t believe their claims it’s anti-aging and anti-everything bad, omg, it’s oil - it just locks moisture in your skin! That’s it. And bcs the color is creamy I can assume the oil is refined so all of the benefits are gone. I totally don’t get the hype.

BSB's Girl from Bahia (cheroisa 71) and wild card (baccarat 540) oils are great. Cloud 9 first smelled like absolutely nothing then like a watered down wild card. I waited until they were on sale. Hopefully they will have a Black Friday sale again cuz I'm not paying their regular prices. Price is also the reason I won't ever try Skin Potion
Can we get an update on your feelings on brown sugar babe oils? This is an update from my earlier comment, I originally bought 1 oz of cherry bomb, cloud 9 and crème de la crème. They are all nice, and cherry bomb is very strong and lasts all day. Cloud 9 is a nice sweet vanilla marshmallow scent good for layering. Crème de la crème is no vanilla 28 as you said, but it’s a nice vanilla. I’m just about finished the vanilla and cloud 9. I just ordered another 1oz mini set of my Tribeca (since it restocked), wild card and madam, and a full bottle of caked up. These might be my last ones and from there maybe I’ll get full size of the ones I love.
Yes I gave an update in my Black Friday haul. But I’m also going to do another one next month! I’ll have to try out cherry bomb the next time I order from them.

The Angel of Mine (Angel Share dupe) from BSB is no joke. It got me chased down by a waitress, aways getting compliments on that specific scent. I do the perfume oils by BSB and find that they last a long time and have good projection. Dont get me wrong, I have scents from them that im not in love with, but they do have some really good scents!
I have such an extensive perfume oil collection. And some perform like perfumes. So i probably won’t get those. But there are a few body oils that I have been enjoying
These glazes get better with time so let em sit. Also some people mix them up

I actually love BSB but I did only get the scents that I liked like Ysl libre intense and TriBeCa and a couple others. I will say that I swear them as perfume oils and not all over. I have the originals and I spray them on top and I literally will smell like it the next day 😂

Hey friend... I tried to love the BSB oils but they just didn't do it for me! I even let them sit and still didn't like them! Its an underlining "gasoline" type of scent to my nose and I just couldn't get passed it! I was super disappointed ad felt like I wasted my money! Canvas in on my radar but idk I'm scuredd lol
Don’t be scared! Canvas beauty is worth it! Try one of her older scents that she been had. Not the new ones.

I am late to this video and just finding you on TH-cam. I am a niche fragrance lover. And if you know anything about niche fragrances a 30ml bottle will cost you $120 upwards. My fragrance collection is not small 250+ bottles so that should tell you I have no problem spending money on something that's worth the price because I have $400 dollar perfumes in my rotations. All fragrance fans know a body oil is an essential part of the base to help your fragrance stick but it should also be to give you a nice glow/shine and be moisturizing to your skin unless the oil is solely just a fragrance perfume oil. I have eczema and suffer from dry skin so if my body oil isn't moisturizing but just smells good I don't want it!! When I went to the website and I saw the prices my first thought was is it moisturizing? Because if the scent is the only thing giving its not for me. And if its a dupe for something I already have I definitely don't need it if its not adding the element of moisture. Based on their advertising the oils are supposed to be moisturizing, keep your skin soft and provide the scent on its own or be able to be layered with your fragrance. I see everyone in my fragrance groups talking about how good they smell but I rarely see anyone talk about the moisture. For that alone plus your review I will not be purchasing. Especially if its not worth the price point.
The moisture was better than I expected but to me it’s not something I would buy FOR the moisture. It’s something you buy for the scent. Like right now in this cold winter, I’m not reaching for their oils as a source of moisture. But there definitely is some moisture there, just not the star of the show

BsB is a no ma’am for me. They are very overpriced and the scent is like who is this, and canvas beauty body glaze are over hyped. I was thinking Donut would be my favorite but 😒 nope, Eos vanilla cashmere is what I felt donut should have smelled like. But I must say they have the boom marketing.
The donut on body glaze doesn’t smell like donut to me but I like it. However the moisture that it gives my skin is top tier!
And I do love the smell of vanilla cashmere from eos!

I REALLY wanted to like the body glaze. Don’t get me wrong, the strawberry smells delicious. I am in the minority but I felt like the texture was super balmy and thick, somehow not sticky to the touch though. I didn’t feel super moisturized either, also it made my skin itch after awhile? I ended up ordering Sugar Cookie from K.Lashaye Naturals and Ayoni Wellness Snickerdoodle and the high shea butter content worked so much better on my skin. Sad I didn’t love it I paid full price for the canvas glazes, but Ayoni has amazing products she is a Nigerian Pharmacist and herbalist! ❤
Quality of these “luxury” brands are horrible. I bought some LV purses, 1 I had to bring back to the Store within 6 months. The other I had under a yr and had to send for a new strap. And they were both expensive. Like for the price why is it falling apart like this!!!?? Quality complete garbage for the price. But the only good thing is they will fix it, I guess🤷🏽♀️
