Reading Celeste's Negative Reviews (So You don't have to!)

The review page on steam is usually not all that useful.
You can just look over near the tags, see that it says "Overwhelmingly positive" and know that this game is probably pretty good. If it's not good, it'll let you know. Scrolling down to read the reviews is usually not worth your time.
However, one day I was feeling curious.
Why do these people hate this "Overwhelmingly Positive" game in the first place? And why did they feel so strongly about it that they wanted to leave a review? And most importantly, is there anything useful we can take from their opinions?

But it definitely didn’t feel good to have to resort to using it. It didn’t make me salty, but it made me feel WAY less excited about completing the game.

@@cubeofmeat4982 Yeah, but the slowdown mode tho. That one is literally perfect for this game, since timing and execution is the main difficulty. It lets you fine tune the difficulty for your level of reaction time. Dash assist is also well made, especially if you're on joystick controls, letting you initiate a dash in the right direction every time, but you still need to time the dash, since you can't cancel it once you hit the button.
I never used it, but my brother did for the last screen of farewell, and he said it felt fine, quoting "It doesn't feel like cheating, I'm just telling the game that I need it to back off because I'm not having fun, and it does"

THIS. I consider myself pretty good at platformers/metroidvanias (I did The White Palace's Path of Pain in 30 hours but still) when motivated, (This will come in later) and when the game offered me assist mode, two things popped in my head:
      1) This is a really hard game and I should be careful
      2) This is here because people can't complete the game without it
I wanted to prove to myself that I didn't need it (I literally said "I don't need help) and I didn't wanted to experience the game to its fullest.
The assist mide actually made the hame seem harder than it actually was, and after doing 7A, I asked, "Is there a way to make it harder?"
Then I found B-sides and they are much more in line what I thought the base game was going to be.
When I find something too hard, I stop playing and take a break for a day to recharge. Then I can complete it. I only did it once in the Mirror Temple when it was 11:30 at night and I couldn't handle the stress from tbat chapter anymore.
B-sides are making me take breaks because of how hard it is, not from stress or exhaustion. I like it. Every cleared room is a victory.
As of yet I'm on Golden Ridge's B-side and assist mode remains off. I'll updaye this if any changes happen but this is all for 8A amother round in a few days let's die another 1,000 times
P.s. I took the "Be proud of your death count" postcard to heart, I died 856 times in Oshiro 😊
      Edit:
I'm in the last room of Farewell. Assist mode remains off. Badeline has talked to me twice. I'm so determined to complete this.
Edit 2: I beat Farewell and then did it again. I have completed all the C-sides and Assist Mode remains off. I am now going for Goldens which might make me break, but I'm working on 3a and 6a. Chapter 3 is going to end me.

@@jeremiahbaugh8195 I heavily disagree with this. Assist mode should be a feature. Not only does it tie in well with the game's message if "It's okay to ask for help," but it helps people with physical disabilities so they can tweak the game"s difficulty to what suits them.
Someone could have nerve damage in their fingers and thus have slower reaction time: What then? Their body won't magically fix itself. That's why assist mode is called literally that: "Assist" mode. It's there to help you completely the game, not for you to cheat. The game trusts the player to want to experience the game to the fullest for them to choose to turn on assist mode and its many uses.

I personally use controller (because keyboard just doesn't suit me for this game, I've tried), and I understand what people say in the video about inputs not always being consistent, but the reason for that is that Celeste only has 8 directions of motion (excluding variants and the feathers), and so a control stick with a full 360 degree range of motion can result in the player thinking their fingers are in one place when they're actually in another, causing a dash to go in the wrong direction. Just using keyboard or dpad fixes this though. Here's my thing about some of these reviews regarding controller options though. You can connect both a controller and a keyboard to Steam, so what is the problem? You don't complain about the controls of Smash because the DK Bongo Drums are limited, you choose a controller that isn't the DK Bongos, you know?
Also most people use keyboard, how does it not suit the game? lol

i've invested myself a fair bit into this game and i'd like to give my two cents
    - a lot of the accessibility options that you mentioned were added quite recently. 50% screen shake, grab toggles, and freeform button binding, for instance, are a courtesy of 1.4.0.0, the most recent patch that is barely a month or two old. the devs are commited to accessibility, which is great, but it's really obvious it's an area they're slowly getting experience with.
    - keyboard is NOT terrible. many many many speedrunners play on keyboard (myself included) to great effect, it has legitimate advantages over gamepads (e.g.: way more bindable keys), there are fair arguments to some strats being legitimately easier on keyboard; like it straight up is a good way to play the game. all the people complaining about their diagonal dashes becoming cardinal dashes? would straight up not happen on keyboard (or a dpad for that matter, but it's not that obvious that the dpad is a good way to play the game where in a keyboard it's the only option). even the feathers, which you'd think would give keyboard players some trouble, isn't even that bad because the lack of precise angles means it moves in a very predictable and consistent manner, and unless you wanna take some really edgy and precise lines you will lose no time or have any trouble with the feathers.
    - about assist mode: i legitimately think it's not that good. yes, ego is the only thing keeping you from turning it on, but also there's really no options that don't instantly make the game a thousand times easier - easier than you'd probably like if you're just slightly struggling to get through. it's 100% understandable that people can have trouble wiith the game and still not want straight up invincibility or infinite dashing. dash assist is maybe the only mechanic that isn't that extreme in its effect and i think assist mode REALLY needed more stuff like this; stuff that makes the game easier but by a small amount so you can ACTUALLY fine-tune the difficulty to your liking instead of Assist Mode feeling like a "give up" button

I started on keyboard, and quit a few screens into chapter 1 once I realized I would love this game, and bought a controller. Once my controller arrived, I played through the game multiple times, and completed 1b, 2b, and 8a.
Recently, in the past few weeks, I decided to try keyboard. I set up some keybinds which took advantage of the thumb keys on the Ergodox, opened up my main file, started Prologue, and played through until Summit on keyboard. I tried to get as many collectibles along the way as possible, even picking up a few in most chapters I hadn't gotten yet. I expected there to be a lot of difficulty re-learning how to hyper and wave dash, but I actually found both to transfer very smoothly to the keyboard, and be easier to execute. I had more trouble remembering which keys were jump and dash than I had actually executing an extended hyper. I had expected the feather to be an issue, to the point that my initial plan was to switch my left hand, covering ESDF for movement, to the controller stick, while continuing to use my right hand for other controls. I gave up on that on the first screen of 6a, and was surprised to find that feather movement really wasn't that bad on keyboard. Once I got used to it, I felt a lot more consistent in many of the more difficult Badeline Fight screens. I have since completed 3b for the first time ever, finally got some consistency on Search Skip and the wavedash skip in 5a to skip going left for the bubble, and finally figured out how to set up a vertical hyper (align Madeline almost directly under the edge of the wall, not next to the wall).
Part of it may be that I just am more comfortable with keyboard controls. I started Hollow Knight around the same time I started Celeste, and have used a keyboard with that from the beginning to take advantage of more comfortable bindings and the lack of analog movement in Hollow Knight, so I was getting practice with platformer movement on keyboard all the time I was using controller in Celeste.
I totally agree that more gradation in assist mode would be nice.

regarding assist mode: yeah, it would be nice to have some additional options. from a post on r/celestegame, someone called Rickfernello (who recently did a 0 death 100% run, which is really crazy) suggested additional settings for assist mode such as health bars (an extension to invincibility), slowdown toggle buttons (an extension to game speed), dash assist slowdown instead of freeze, and a guiding silhouette (functions like arrows from Super Mario Odyssey, but like the silhouette of wavedash tutorial rooms). to avoid overcomplicating things for new players, it was also suggested that assist levels should be added, with clear labels telling the player about the experience they would be getting for each level.
also keyboard feels quite nice. I’m most definitely biased because I only have a keyboard, and I already have experience playing with games on keyboard (things like Trackmania and Touhou), but it controls quite nicely. feathers are slightly awkward because I keep trying to steer by tapping repeatedly, but even that’s mostly a skill issue (along with my insistence with taking tight racing lines when I clearly shouldn’t lol)

      @Kayta-Linda 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I’ve only ever held a controller once in my life, and I wasn’t even ten years old back then. So of course, I would only be able to play with a keyboard. Also, I turned the Assist Mode on right away because I knew I was kinda garbage at all games due to not having any experience. But still, I wanted to at least try.
But then.. I was *very* surprised that the process was way easier than I expected. I had, like, a 100 deaths in 1a, and 85 or so in 2a. I heard that 3a is usually considered a “difficulty spike” compared to previous levels, and... I didn’t even really feel that. I got a full clear in less than an hour.
Now, I *did* struggle with some rooms beginning with 4a. I just couldn’t press buttons correctly fast enough. I tried slowdown in assist mode, but it didn’t really help. Instead, it just made me have to adjust to a different timing. So I bailed on that idea. And then it turned out that my problem came from the fact that my laptop isn’t a gaming PC, so it doesn’t allow me to press more than three buttons at the same time. So I decided to “solve” this problem by switching grab to “inverse” for those rooms that seem to require it. Is works well enough. (Also, I recently replayed that first room and just.. did it first try, so I also might have been overcomplicating it the first time around, too.)
Anyway... the C-sides are the only thing that I *actually* never want to do ever again. 3c’s last screen traumatized me pretty seriously :D...
Also, “Reflection” is the best stage in any difficulty. I just... really love rooms where I need to free-fall. I feels really nice. It’s like I always thought when watching let’s plays: don’t be afraid of what’s below you. Just trust the developer to guide you through it. So Badeline fight is just fantastic fro me. The movement through those rooms is just so... smooth and.. I don’t know. It feels like dancing. The way you’re always thrown from her into the exact position you need to be next. So you just keep falling. I love that.

It’s weird that people say that this game wasn’t meant to be played on PC, because every person who I’ve talked to that is good at Celeste prefers keyboard because it’s much easier to avoid mixing up cardinal and diagonal inputs. I play on controller and, at first, I thought the game was constantly taking in my inputs wrong. But eventually I realized that no, it wasn’t a game problem, my hands weren’t accurately translating what I wanted to do into the correct left stick input, and I had just never played a precision game before where that was a major issue.
I’ve put 220 hours into the game on my Nintendo Switch and I don’t have any input problems anymore. I do still occasionally dash in the wrong direction, but I’m able to recognize exactly what happened and correct it on my next attempt with minimal effort.

Something I find fascinating is how my sibling loves Celeste and hated playing Hollow Knight, while I hated playing Celeste but love Hollow Knight. It makes sense knowing what I know now about the two games, but I was scared off of Hollow Knight for ages and ages because my sibling introduced me to both of them, only had me play Celeste... and called them both platformers. Turns out, no, they're just entirely different categories of games and I love metroidvanias but find platformers repetitive and too frustrating, while they love platformers but find metroidvanias too lacking in direction. Neither game is inherently better or worse, but each one is certainly better or worse for each of us. Celeste was one of the most painful gaming experiences I've ever had, while I still remember how frustrated and disheartened my sibling got while trying to beat Hollow Knight. Both games are great in their own right, they just... weren't right for everyone.

@@sammshoyu8434 Yes and that’s the beauty of Celeste. I think so many people get difficulty and frustration mixed up. Something can be difficult without being frustrating. The game restarts you at the beginning of every room you enter which makes the game super forgiving, but it’s still very much a hard game. Trial and error is there by the bucketloads but you don’t have to start the whole level over when you die. That’s what good difficulty should be. The reason it feels so easy to beat is that it isn’t frustrating so you always keep trying over and over no matter how much you fail because failure is just a slap on the wrist, (just be prepared for a very VERY sore wrist by the end) , and before you know it the game is beaten. It’s fun because the difficulty keeps you engaged but the forgiving death system keeps you from rage quitting. I’m bad at explaining but to summarize, games with difficulty are fun, games with frustration are not, the two are not the same, and Celeste is the former not the latter.

I don't think negative reviews are necessarily a bad thing. Course, there are stupid ones, like "GAME BAD, BUY NOT" kind of thing, but you can dislike a game and still give very good insight and recommendation on what could work better, and explain why you dislike the game, and the same applies to why you like a game if you put a positive review, which will both ultimately help people find a game they know they'll enjoy or avoid games buying games that negative reviews could've ultimately helped them save money

I’d like to raise a point that I feel was overlooked when talking about “it should be clear the game isn’t for everyone.”
Celeste is a BIG game within the indie sphere, on par with other renowned games like Hollow Knight and Ori for example, and with all popular games, you get people claiming it’s a “must play for everyone,” (as well as players following the “next big thing,” but that’s a seperate topic).
Perhaps a friend recommends it to you without thought on if you’d enjoy it, (I wouldn’t recommend DOOM to someone who plays entirely life sim games for an exaggerated example), and I’ve found from experience in many other indie communities beyond just Celeste’s that it tends to be the FANS that don’t know that the game’s not for everyone, and will recommend the game to everyone they know and their dogs.
I’m guilty of this myself don’t get me wrong, but since I came to this realisation I’ve tried putting a bit more thought into my recommendations beyond just “I like this game go play it too,” as if I recommend a game I want the person to actually enjoy it.
Anyway, sorry for rambling, just spitting out some thoughts I had while watching this :)

I don't think it's just ego when it comes to not turning on assist mode! I know part of why I don't tend to turn on easy modes in certain games is because it feels like I'm not really playing the game the way it was made to be played, and with a game like Celeste, perfecting the platforms is fundamentally what the game is. It's not like there's a deep story I'm aching to get through for Celeste, so winning through assist mode just, wouldn't really feel like winning. I will say with Celeste, I played a bit of it and mostly feel like it's a game I don't get very much from, personally. I can appreciate the graphics/it's history as a pico game/and the charm others have found in it, but I don't need to play it to enjoy those, and honestly find it more enjoyable just looking it up online rather than playing it first hand. Heck, then I can even watch people complete the much harder difficulties, and that's way more entertaining than dying in normal or assist mode.

Celeste is a good game, I would review it positively, but dismissing people who disagree with that is wrong. You are judging people and poking fun at them for doing what they're supposed to do - leaving a review that is based on their experience. They don't have to pretend to like it, or pretend that they think it's a good game at all. Neither do they have to put "in my opinion" after every sentence since that's inherently what a review is.
Most of the reviews you made fun of in the video were perfectly good reviews. Knowing that some people found the controls annoying for instance is a legitimate concern for potential buyers.
Basically, what you're asking for is that good games should always be rated a perfect 10/10 because "most people like this". It just doesn't work.

i'm not into precision platformers, i don't like how they feel. i will admit that. but i was pushed to play celeste by close friends, because they thought i would enjoy the writing, as i'm a rather depressed and anxious individual, and the narrative is centric to similar themes. long story short, i found myself frustrated around the level with the wind, and triggered assist mode features. it made progressing through the story and reading along sting, it hurt having to compare my struggles to that of the main character, i couldn't just easily alter the world or functions of myself to better suit my issues. it hurt hearing the emotional struggle of the character be relayed so physically through something that was immediately separated from the challenge. it spoiled it for me and made me feel so dour as a result.

I think the biggest issue with assist mode is the way it's presented, it looks like a cheat menu. Having some of those settings implemented in a simple difficulty selection when you start the game (i.e without any of the assist options is "hard", and then lower difficulty modes have some of the assist options implemented in them directly) would probably be a lot more appealing. Saying you played on the "medium" difficulty FEELS a lot better than saying you played with "assist mode".

Meh, this is a sort of band-aid to the issue; Having either a difficulty slider in the first seconds of a game without having any clue as to what to choose will just lead to more confusion about what difficulty is the "right" way to play the game. Or having the slider be automatically be set to "hard" and then being able to lower the difficulty is just another layer of confusion to a system that (in my opinion) didn't need fixing. There shouldn't be any embarrassment using assist mode, and I don't think that embarrassment is a problem on the game's fault.

So, this game. I really did try to play this game, but I had to stop somewhere in the middle of the third chapter. I died something like 300 times in the same room to a tricky dash (this was shortly after another room that took nearly one hundred tries to complete), and my brother was hovering over me to see what I thought of the game, urging me to use assist mode and move on while I struggled with the (imo) awkward controls. And, well - that was about it for me.
Yes, I know assist mode exists, and I am fully capable of using it, and maybe it is a bad mark on my character for deciding not to. But really - I can be pretty stubborn about things (I reloaded the fight against Sans in Undertale dozens of times before I finally won) - and after so much time investment in normal mode, assist mode just felt like giving up. There just wouldn't be any satisfaction for me if I turned my character invincible to get past that room. I'd rather stop playing than have the rest of the game be tainted by my wounded pride anyway.
I play games for fun - if I'm not having fun, it's up to me to recognize that and figure out if I need to stop playing or change how I'm playing. For Celeste, I wasn't happy with the controls and felt like I wasn't making enough progress for the time investment to be worthwhile.
I did go find playthroughs online to enjoy the rest of the story, though. I think it's an excellent game overall - but, like that one reviewer stated, it isn't for me.

My only gripe with Celeste was how all the corrections that the dev(s) spent time working on eventually amounted to not much of a better added feel to the game. I think I would've died some good 20% less had they given players the possibility to tweak the weird controller stick deadzone (glad I'm apparently not the only one who noticed the diagonal input problems). Luckily I used a DualShock and with DS4Windows you can change that. This said it obviously isn't a bad game because of this, but it's a very fair criticism.

Interesting thought about super meat boy vs celeste - I dont like how super meat boy controls, but i am very into celeste. I like hollow knight but I am more into pure platformers, I got my start playing transformice. (Perhaps that is also why I like fancy corner jumps etcs).
When i bought it I thought that I was going to find it too hard based on the free gamejam version, but the actual game introed me to the controls in a way that scratched my brain. I still died a LOT, but the combination of knowing there is an interesting story to unlock and how they fed me the difficult controls made me get better at it. Also the optional strawberries helped because i didnt have to oneshot them, im on my second run to get all the strawberries for the platforming challenge and its a lot easier.
Also i love the online speedrunning community! I dont know how to do the fancy crazy momentum jumps, but the walkthroughs and the feeling of having a community helps :D

I don't ever say this, but they're playing the game wrong
Death/Failure is a natural part of Celeste, because it doesn't matter. It takes less than 2 seconds to get back into action and screens are mostly around 5 seconds long
The only thing that matters in Celeste is whether or not you clear the map, because once you do you can proudly say you've conquered the mountain

Late comment but I just stumbled upon this, and there's something I need to react to. Indeed, completing Farewell, the C Sides, and even to some extent the B Sides isn't for casual players, that I can agree with. but any casual player is able to complete the "main" game, and by that I mean A Sides until the Summit. I've seen plenty of casual gamers taking their time to finish the game, and managing to do so just fine, although it's true it's taken them more time than an average more experienced player, but that's not an issue at all.
So my point is, if you don't manage to beat the game, it's not because you're not able to do it if you feel like too much of a casual player. It's because you don't like it for some reason (and that's fine)

I think Hollow Knight has a slight edge because I love the world building, but I find more motivation to try to 100%, or at least beat every level of celeste. I kind of dropped out of Hollow Knight when I came to the Godhome and the Pantheons because I didn't really enjoy having to rebattle a bunch of bosses every time I lost to the last one. Celeste on the other hand is much nicer to grind since you just restart your current screen and can focus at one part at a time. The thing I dislike about Celeste is that everybody continues to tell me that I should love the game, try it again, and that I'd have to be braindead not to be able to play it through with the assist mode being there.
I am not good at video games.
I do not like hard games.
I have things to do in my life beyond games.
The assist mode really doesn't help me, because I genuinely hate the controls in Celeste, and no amount of assist will help me feel better while playing it.
Instead of accepting that I'm allowed to just not play it, fans will scream at me that I just aren't trying hard enough, and that it's a perfect game.
It's not for me. Enjoy it if it's for you, but it isn't for me. I'll stick with Disco Elysium as my favorite game.

I think celeste's difficulty actually has a pretty good scale. You can do assist mode. You can decide to just play to the summit and collect no strawberries. You can decide to play for all the strawberries. If you finish the base chapters you can play the b-sides. If you want to continue on you can do mods. (Idk whats left)
You can just pause and the game saves your progress so you can come back directly to that level. (Only thing is you cant replay small levels easily cos its a linear storyline).
You have to be comfortable with dash tho

Now, after nearly 100%-ing the game (haven’t played Farewell or Core C), the only mechanic that I have an issue with is the moving enemies (the Puffs in the Hotel and the Spikes in the Temple). I will also say, though, that the Cores moving objects are different in that it’s a simple loop, that are usually pretty slow.

I'm a new "casual" celeste player and i love it. It definitely helps that i have a small background in kaizo mario and I'm no noob when it comes to challenging platforming. Plus I enjoy speedrunning.
I was playing the game and thinking... there's no way this is for casuals at all. You really have to get good to play it. It's not like mario world where the base game is like it is and the community makes super tough rom hacks. This base game is incredibly hard sometimes.
There's times when I'm screaming at my computer. Cursing. Getting mad. Then i beat the level and say "damn that wasn't that hard at all" that feeling is one of the best feelings ever. For me one of the biggest distinctions mad reviewers never make is difficult vs punishing. Celeste is a tough game but it's not punishing at all, and as a rougelike player trust me I understand punishment.
Even if a game is very difficult such as (personal choices) Celeste, Furi, Hollow knight, Ghostrunner, if they are not punishing then it doesn't hurt when you lose or die. As opposed to again rougelikes where every single death is extremely punishing and can physically hurt someone new to the genre.

Farewell wasn´t released yet so i played celeste two times to 100% and then played farewell and that was something.
after 4 hours i thoguht the level was over caused of the heart but it kept going and going and going, i thought it would never end.

Those concepts of seeing actual progress is the most satisfying way to play a game. (in my opinion)

  • @shadowdemonaer

4:51 I had that feeling. I chose to look up what the point of the game was, and when i learned what the point was and that assist mode doesn't take away from your happy ending or deny you anything, I played with it on. I even ended up with full god mode just so I could move forward and experience the story. If I got too lost or stuck, I looked up the rest of the story for that chapter on TH-cam, and skipped to the next chapter to continue because I liked at least going and getting the dialogue myself.
Now, a day later, I played with my friend watching me as I streamed while i played with assist mode off, and he taught me that the game becomes a better experience if you have your hold/climb button as shift, jump as z, and x as dash. Do NOT use your pinky for climbing like I did. Hurts like a bitch even though it works.
I had watched him attempt and fail level one of b side in the first chapter and that inspired me to try it. Before that, I decided to try and get as many strawberries as I could because I wanted to utilize them for practice moving and making more complex maneuvers. When I got to the room that gave me access to b side and I finished chapter 1, I went in for it.
I got further than he ever did. he hasn't completed that and he had given up on it. This is my second day playing, and while on call with him, it was genuinely fun and now I get why people like the game.
When I played the first time, I was really personally dealing with my own mountain in real life, and didn't need or want to climb another. Today, I feel better, and climbing the mountain is fun and an achievement. Every new success and my friend losing his shit watching me improve so fast has been a hit of dopamine that i haven't felt in quite some time.
If anyone needs a reason to attempt it again, let my story be the reason. It's a lot better than i expected it to be, and I'm getting smarter and stronger with every room.
Also, mess around with b side. It's great training for the regular game even though the next areas don't have those spikes anymore.

I understand why players might benefit from the feature but a part of me can't help but feel that it takes away some of the potency of the game's biggest moment since that extra dash is something you go through a lot of hardship and growth for Madeline to unlock.

This video was a rollercoaster of emotion for me, especially when you started talking about difficulty, I went from happy, to disappointed, to angry, to relieved.
Because at first you didn't mention assist mode, which a lot of people present as the perfect solution where no one can have any issues with a difficult game, but then you did, and proceeded to blame the players not using it, I was furious, and finally I was relived when you said it wasn't a perfect solution, and presented the facts that assist mode isn't a perfect thing
I'm usually someone that does quite well at video games, my boyfriend on the other hand, struggles a lot, and quite of a few of the games he played and struggled on had assist mode, like CrossCode for example.
He stopped playing basically all of them out of frustration and difficulty, and never used assist mode, because it's insulting, it's not ill-intentioned by the devs, but it's the equivalent of the doom characters being dressed as a baby on the lower difficulty.
Honestly I've lost hope to find someone who is both good at a game, yet understand that not everyone is, and the struggles that come along with it, so, good job for not simply shitting on the "game too hard" comments and actually analyzing their issues.

I kinda understand the frustration with the game’s overall difficulty. When I played the first time, C9 was already out. I went through C1-C8 having a Blast, yes it was hard, but hell I liked it. Then C9 came in and it was so hard I felt terrible. Like I felt like I was not good enough to finish this game. And yes, you are totally right about the ego thing. In that moment I was like “I cant turn on assist mode now, I came all the way here without it!”. Finally, after several hours and having double my death count, I surrendered, turned on assist mode, found out I was only 2-3 screens to finishing (I almost cried! Me ego was busted! 🤣), and… well I fount that wall at the end I couldn’t cross because I didn’t played the B-Side stages. That’s when it hit me. I was not supposed to play C9 in that moment. I believe that most people felt like that, the knew the game was hard, but weren’t prepared to the challenge or believe they where (Like me and C9), and turned out they didn’t.
