Ah, fair Nimes. As soon as I stepped out the station up that gorgeous wee alley between Ave. Feucheres, leading up to Les Arenes, I knew I was in a spot to savour. It was July. The cicadas were providing that quintessential Midi soundtrack with their crazy buzzing, the buildings had that faded grandeur/shabby-chic look that France does like no other country on Earth (save Italy), and the general vibe was one of satisfied torpor in the summer sun. Sure, there’s not much to the place. To call it France’s Rome is to grossly insult the scale and richness of the Eternal City, but what there is, including, of course, the superbly preserved aforementioned Les Arenes and Maison Carree, is worth a day of anyone’s life.
This city unlike Rome hasn't become an overtouristed place though.

Mon dieu,Jaime nimrs.cest genial .I lived here over 20 years ago for a year .jai assistant danglais a vauvert.cetais sympa .jai beaucoup damies Francis, Algerian et anglais .I miss it soo much .how I'd love to be twenty again.i did also fall in love with montpeiller, iI lived there for one month , well fell in love wiith an American actually ...but moved after.Please le jeune enjoy yourself while u are young.xx
