Thankyou! The front unit is vacant. I'm interested because it has hardwood floors rather than carpet but we have roof rats everywhere! Can i set a bomb for mites in the storage area below and the attic above before moving in (I have severe PTSD from the last infestation)? Also what screen do i use for blocking holes and cracks and how do i install it? Don't get me started on landlord responsibilities! I'm doing it myself.
why use the Victor with a plastic pedal instead of the metal ? Other channels recommend the metal. It's easy to bend the metal hook to apply different baits such as peanut butter on a piece of cloth/sponge. Sometimes I superglue dog kibble to the petal trigger. Instead of the Victor M241 battery trap with C batteries, I use the Rat Zapper Ultimate, 4 D batteries.
@@mungox1 there are marginal benefits between the metal and plastic pedal (aka treadle). We like the broad surface of the plastic for more sure kills . Also, when setting a lot of these in a close area, the metal version can sometimes be "too good" ie, they are so sensitive when setting they can go off when bumped. Go with what you feel best using. In the end, its more about the rat and its behavior. Thank you for writing
I used to think that as well but the trick is to put the bait in the bait trough that is right above where the metal arm bar goes in. This way the critter will step on the yellow pad to access the bait, setting off the trap.
That's right. And anything you can do to make the rodent work hard to get at the bait or food attractant. Some people like to smear peanut butter underneath the plastic paddle. It drives them nuts trying to get at it,
You should mention that rats that eat a poison do NOT die right away, they often go to their nests, in your wall, under the house, or in the attic and die. Also poisoned rats/mice are often eaten by neighborhood cats and raptors or scavenger birds which also die from these pesticides.
@@jerryjarvis8095 steel wool can work, especially in dry spots. But if it gets wet it can rust. And rats can grab it and pull at it if they are motivated. A little adhesive helps.
Such an import point about humane traps... I'm all for it but unless you are checking in hourly I think a kill trap IS the humane trap...sticky traps and poison are the least humane.
@@golftownpro999 I have seen people put out raccoon traps and never check them again. Fortunately they didn't catch anything. Humane is such a complicated thing
I do believe that firing that trap without a rat in it can sometimes lead to the trigger snapping. To disarm that trap it's important that you don't let it snap shut. But to close it gently. If you don't like the T-Rex, the big wooden snap traps are fine alternatives.
Hey there thanks for voicing some concern about this trap. The T-Rex trap can break if dry fired. Which means letting it snap shut with nothing in the Jaws. It's important to press down on the trigger while holding it open, and then let it down slowly.
You sound like an industry veteran 🙂 hey I hear you, some people don't like them at all! I talked to a lot of people in the industry about different traps they love and they hate and it's really mixed. It's kind of like, flip a coin and you'll get a different love or hate answer for a particular product 🙂
What a great concise video with no B.S.! Thanks for all the info especially the important safety info 👍 I just subscribed.
Welcome to the channel 🙂 thanks for subscribing!

T. rex link isn’t working just giving you the heads up
@@joecampo1770 thank you for the heads up!!
Rat x and sunflower seeds is still the best!
Cheers to that. Great mix!
Rodent bait killed my dog Gus, he ate a dead mouse who consumed the bait, the bait wasn't fast so the mouse ran a long way.
Bait can be terrible around dogs! Im so so sorry!!
The Trex is crap - the firing trigger is plastic and breaks easily.
