I’m 34, but I had a middle school teacher who would go around singing this song. I loved it. One of my fondest school memories. I hope everyone is having a great week. -Amber
Their gold singles included “One,” “Easy To Be Hard” and “Joy To The World.” The lead vocalist on those tracks, Chuck Negron,. Next from this band- "Try A Little Tenderness" with Cory Wells on lead vocals
"One" is a song by American singer-songwriter Harry Nilsson from his 1968 album Aerial Ballet. Very clever use of One & Two then No & Yes contrast. Charles "Chuck"/"The Stash" Negron II (born June 8, 1942) does lead vocals on this song.
I watch several "Reactors" and the numbers they attract. You have the fastest growing channel of them all. You just blew past two of them this week. The factors that set you apart and make your channel more popular are: No pausing or major interruptions of the music, great sound quality, full length album versions, the most comprehensive intelligent analysis of the content, no pretentious self promoting issues, no foul language, and a very friendly attitude combined with that smile make you a true WINNER. I know at least 1,000 of your subs agree. (more like 20,000)
AND... I first discovered your channel you were doing the 38th video, listed by most recent. I suggested you create a Playlist for each new artist to make it easier to find songs. The next day they were all in their right playlist and I just smiled. My first suggestion was number 41 - Jan 14th 2023 It's been many smiles since then. Thanks again
Another cool reaction JMBoy, Three Dog Night has quite a song list. A couple that you'll totally dig would be, "Mama Told Me" (Not To Come) 1970 and "Shambala" 1973.
Three Dog Night took their cover of "One" to the tops of the charts in 1969. It was the first of their many big hits. That insistent guitar line really drives the second half of the song. When you're ready for more from Three Dog Night, check out some of their other hits from the early seventies -- "Joy to the World", "Black and White", "Shambala", "Out in the Country", and "Never Been to Spain". And when you're ready for some Harry Nilsson, check out some of his hits from the seventies too -- "Without You", "Coconut", "Everybody's Talkin'", "Me and My Arrow", and "Jump into the Fire" (which might be recognizable from the soundtrack to Goodfellas).
I love it!!!!! Has always been one of my favorite groups and that will never change. Would love to see your reaction to An Old Fashioned Love Song by the same group. Thanks again.
If this is the first time you heard this song and you like it.... You're welcome. Dining at The Classic Rock Restaurant again Thanks JM, On The House again.
They were my first concert as a young teen also. In fact, I got all their autographs and that piece of paper finally wore out a couple of decades later!
"ONE" One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do Two can be as bad as one It's the loneliest number since the number one No is the saddest experience you'll ever know Yes, it's the saddest experience you'll ever know 'Cause one is the loneliest number that you'll ever do One is the loneliest number, whoa-oh, worse than two It's just no good anymore since you went away Now I spend my time just making rhymes of yesterday One is the loneliest number One is the loneliest number One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do One is the loneliest One is the loneliest One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do It's just no good anymore since you went away One is the loneliest (number) One is the loneliest (number) One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do One is the loneliest (number) One is the loneliest (number) One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do One...! (one is the loneliest number that you'll ever do) (Number) One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do (Number) One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
Written and first performed by the late great Harry Nilsson who performed so many great songs. Please react to "Without You", "Everybody's Talkin'" , his biggest hits.
I listened to 3DG every day in Vietnam in 1969....helped me get through it & back to the world. Great band & Cory was amazing singing "Try A Little Tenderness."
This song brought me back hadn't heard it for a few decades. Thanks. We played this song in the high school Stage Band. I switch around playing all the different brass instruments and sang a few songs.( was also in barber shop) Also played keyboard although this song I just sang. Remember it every word and note. But then we had all our songs memorized. It wasn't required but.. In marching band it was required. Made intricate Maneuvers on the field much easier without looking at music. We had our own large van and Stage equipment. We mostly covered songs from Chicago,Doors, and Herb Alpert. It was a music orientated High School. There were two combined rooms that had 60 students every hour learning guitar. There was also a class with 30 keyboards. And music theory as well. Even though I only attended two years, graduated with high honors. But starting Junior College at age 16 prompted me to enroll in a different high school because it was also a trade school. Was certified in many areas. It also allowed me to stay in Civil Air Patrol and continue furthering my private pilot's license onto a commercial license. That's also when I started working the race tracks and the weekends in summers as a licensed farrier. ( horseshoer) While others were busy partying I was busy furthering future careers. Like I said Thanks for provoking memories. Another nice memory was the director at the music school had pull. The band Chicago was in town doing a concert. The day before we had an assembly at the last hour of school. You can imagine it being the last hour most everyone ditched. Likely the last time they ever did for those of us who attended we got to see 1 hour of Chicago up front and in person.lol the band was cool they hung around afterwards conversing. Buddy Rich did likewise for the audience of less than 30 at the junior college. That was truly sad for such talent.
Chuck Negron performing currently and singing their hits still with a powerful voice. Cory Wells passed on a few years back. Danny Hutton touring with his own version of TDN. But I would rather hear and see Chuck Negron perform. “Mama Told Me Not to Cone” is Fire.
Memories of my childhood. I was 6 when this came out and got to hear it and so much more because my brothers were older by 8, 10 and 11 years. Got to see them live in 1981. A lot of their songs were written by Hoyt Axton who played the role of the father in the movie Gremlins. As a suggestion check out Never Been To Spain
Those vocals are killer! Three Dog Night and The Guess Who were big when I was in high school (I have a 50th reunion this year). All those songs from those groups and groups like them mean a lot to me since they were popular during my formative years. Greg in TN 😀
Jmboy, you ever think about modeling/commercials... maybe doing a teeth commercial? Beautiful, symmetric face and features. Oh, and great reactions, thanks!
For a song that will make you laugh, do a review of " Mama Told Me Not to Come"....again, please go to the 1975 TV special to pull videos. Best performances of most of their work.
Three Dog Night was an amazing group. So many incredible songs. You should also check out songs by Blood, Sweat and Tears. You have quite the studio there. Do you also play an instrument?
Good stuff..... Remember this on the radio when I was little..... Tons of great music back then. Edit: for a suggestion I recommend. Simon and Garfunkel "El Condor Pasa" It is their personalized cover of an old South American folk song and one of my earliest memories of great music from my childhood. Very mellow, thoughtful song.
Chuck nergron lead.cory wells yellow shirt.danny hutton.floyd sneed drums joe schermie bass Mike allsup guitar.jimmy greespoon keyboard Jimmy and cory are gone
They used to play at a lot of festivals back in the day, and have seen them many times. I wish they had have let Chuck back in the band after he got clean. What a shame, they were a great band
I’ve always believed that this song is a sort of entendre. In part I think they are talking about being alone, and that it is lonely. However, I truly believe they are also talking about having one joint (also known as a “number”). The lyrics, “one is the loneliest number that you’ll ever do” sort of give it away for me. So having one joint left, sucks, but also being alone sometimes, can be a sad experience for some people. Probably reaching, but it seems like a sneaky little play on words, to me…
BLACK AND WHITE. It's based on Brown vs The Board of Education (Black history, google it). It was originally sung in the 50's by Sammy Davis Jr. Then a reggae group covered it. Danny Hutton (RIP) from 3 Dog Night heard it and insisted thry do it. It went to #1 the day day of my 5th birthday in 1973. Look at the lyrics.
I love your reactions because your comments are right on and because you never interrupt the song! So I have a big suggestion for you...check ourt the band Uriah Heep and their song called The Wizard. It's a profound banger and you will love it! Thank you!!!
TOO COOL again. This was the first song most people heard from this group. I walked 6 miles to buy it. Thanks again my friend.
I’m 34, but I had a middle school teacher who would go around singing this song. I loved it. One of my fondest school memories. I hope everyone is having a great week. -Amber

Chuck Negron had a great voice. Too bad drugs destroyed his career
"One" is a song by American singer-songwriter Harry Nilsson from his 1968 album Aerial Ballet. Very clever use of One & Two then No & Yes contrast. Charles "Chuck"/"The Stash" Negron II (born June 8, 1942) does lead vocals on this song.

The smile is a big part of why I subscribed. Anyone who smiles that big HAS to be a great person.
This band was great. All their music!
Those guys could really sing.
Brilliant

Their Biggest hit , it kills me every time I hear it
Also Cory Wells singing "Try A Little Tenderness" from the 1975 TV special is FIRE!
Let's get JM to do it next, working on it.
If this is the first time you heard this song and you like it.... You're welcome. Dining at The Classic Rock Restaurant again Thanks JM, On The House again.
Excellent interpretation of the lyrics and musicianship. My first time seeing this channel JMboy - enjoyed it, I'll be back.
This is going to get some attention.... Yep
1969 oh my what great music that year. Then in 1971 in I was in eight grade and Three Dog Night became my first concert.
They were my first concert as a young teen also. In fact, I got all their autographs and that piece of paper finally wore out a couple of decades later!

Three Dog Night had a lot of great stuff -- my fave of theirs is "Out in the Country".
Great song - great band!

You can't beat their live performances, because they bring the fun.
There was a popular line dance that accompanied this hit.
Chuck Negron performing currently and singing their hits still with a powerful voice. Cory Wells passed on a few years back. Danny Hutton touring with his own version of TDN. But I would rather hear and see Chuck Negron perform. “Mama Told Me Not to Cone” is Fire.
Lucky to have seen them live twice. So many great songs so many talented singers

Love this group. So many tracks. Chuck does a fantastic job here . And Cory vocals are amazing on other songs.
That video couldn't be more 60's if it tried 😄
Jmboy, you ever think about modeling/commercials... maybe doing a teeth commercial? Beautiful, symmetric face and features.

Eli's Coming was also a great live performance!

Three Dog Night was an amazing group. So many incredible songs. You should also check out songs by Blood, Sweat and Tears. You have quite the studio there. Do you also play an instrument?
I seen them in concert in the 90's at the BBQ Riund Up in downtown Cedar Rapids Iowa when they played on the 3rd Avenue Bridge
Sing along... we know the lyrics.
Good stuff..... Remember this on the radio when I was little..... Tons of great music back then.

It is their personalized cover of an old South American folk song and one of my earliest memories of great music from my childhood.

The immortal genius of David Gilmour (Pink Floyd) " Where We Start" . Don't judge a book by it's cover. 😊
These guys put on an incredible show. To make them lip sinc to any of their songs is an insult.
Keep up the fantastic work!!

1968
Try Never Been to Spain
I'm done with halfassed live performances of great studio tunes. One more strike and you're out...
No fair having three lead singers... and I do not believe they wrote any of their songs, still liked them.
❤❤❤
