I always enjoy Joe's perspective. Extremely articulate with a well developed sense of fairness and concern for the broader integrity of the game, above the narrow pursuit of winning at all costs. I did detest his Marty Morissey comment , so glad to see he was genuinely sorry for that. He made a sincere direct apology and that always (should be) enough. Fair play!
RTE. Bring him back. He livened things up. Would watch a bad game all the way through just to see him say it was shit in his own inimitable way. I forget sometimes this guy is a highly successful barrister. All round good gael.

I have never believed it was the head of sport, per say , but the snowflake who went running to the head of sport.. The person was very good on radio , but on tv is argumentative, haranguing, interruptive and rude to the existing pundits.
Joe paid the price of being interesting. Just like Kevin Myers. And George Hook. And Ivan Yates. Joe was just not sufficiently bland and tedious to survive in RTE.
Absolutely right. We don't like anyone sticking their head up in Ireland. They must be pulled down. Some people prefer the bland, the Ronan O'Gara types yawwwwn
The adulation he felt for "going after Tyrone" in shaping the "national conversation" was rewarded by RTE in his sacking and Sean Cavanagh (the pratagonist) employed in his stead ....😂😂😂
@contakt23 I don't know. I've stopped watching pundits a long time ago. That also includes Joe's newspaper ramblings. Couldn't care less who thinks and says what.
If somebody had not gone running to the head of sport? That person now adds nothing to the punditry coverage except to harangue, interrupt and scold others. Joe was (is) a true GAA person, and he is absolutely correct about the psudo scientific nonsense that goes on now. 🙏👍
He became an articulate clown. A side show who ended up over shadowing the whole point of TSG in the first place. Analysis of the game and opinions on the game. It became just a vehicle for Joe to pontificate and over shadow the show.
Only one I can think of is Banty. He has not won anything of note but IMO has done a great job. Raises teams - man manager and coach IMO. Joe just came across as bitter/jealous with that comment. I doubt he has the guts to try management himself!
He had some decent views on certain things but I thought 4 a finish Brolly went OTT on his views to make the story about himself instead of the incidents he was complaining about. He loves the limelight. I found it hard to watch for a finish.
I was always sickened how Joe was taken up by many folks. Some people just don't like others opinions to be contraversial and nuanced at the same time, it means they can't refute it.
His karaoke Eamonn Dunphy persona grew very tiresome. Joe also has a habit of reminding everybody that he is a barrister and then pausing as if he’s waiting for a round of applause.

Joe has an eye for controversy . Gets tiresome after awhile . Like most Irish media It's more fake than anything else. Much prefer genuine pundits like Gooch, Tomas O Shea.
The difference is that the two boys are generally polite, Brolly wasn’t. He was great to watch even if he was often annoying. He was unpredictable. A bit like Dunphy in the soccer coverage.
Yea loved Tomas O Shea after the 2020 Munster football semi final :) when it cut to the panel the look on his face shell-shocked clearly wanted to be anywhere but in that studio then seeing him trying to get through the show

Joe Brolly a real man not like the other pretenders on R.T.E.

Joe was the most insightful and intelligent commenter and panellist RTÉ GAA ever had, so of course he got sacked by a civil servant.

Joe brolly for president 👏
Top man joe, sorely missed on rte
A cohort maybe think this. But those who like the game and not false pantomime much prefer his absence. He became a one trick pony.
Brolly is a massive loss he always spoke his mind definitely a huge loss
his perspective greatly needed..how sad rte has become
Fair play Joe. The second half of that Donegal Dublin 2014 semi is pure gold.
The adulation he felt for "going after Tyrone" in shaping the "national conversation" was rewarded by RTE in his sacking and Sean Cavanagh (the pratagonist) employed in his stead ....😂😂😂
He had his strengths as a pundit. But he also knew how to antagonise and cause problems. Eventually employers tire of all that in any profession.
I suppose that if he went along with all the sameness he still be there and we’d be bored to tears, as we are now

Spot on he was good in the early days but lost the run of himself. Ruined analysis of a game after a while. Was too domineering.
Here's something controversial, do you have to be a female now to get a job presenting GAA programmes?
Yes. Wouldn't mind if Ms. Cantwell had any GAA pedigree or was easy on the eye. That plastic smile is the most annoying thing.
