I’m starting to HATE MY HAIR!

  • Hey!!
Can I be honest with y’all? Judgement free (lol). I’m so over my natural hair at the moment. I had copper hair then dyed it jet black because the copper was soo high maintenance, and my hair just kept breaking off. I really want big chop and start over new. Do you guys have any products suggestions for color damaged hair? Anywho, thank you for letting me vent and I’ll see you in the next video 🙂

Careful with olaplex...never used it but heard that it's caused hair loss in some ppl. I would stick to your tried and true. And avoid protein treatments until your hair softens/put in a protective style (without false hair) and use grease.

Same. African Pride used to dry out my hair. And if she is using color, that dries hair as well.
I started using TGIN and grapeseed oil and that really worked for me.

Being a cosmetologist...bleach/color is cryptonite to our hair. Yes, certain products do help (reconstructors, Ion is my preference, deep conditions i use a bunch of conditioners mixed plus cholesterol. Protein treatments as needed), but if its over processed, most likely, you're going to end up cutting it. That should be discussed if you're going to the salon. Glad you're not afraid to cut and start over b/c yes, it is a pain. That's why I stopped coloring. Yes, i love change, but color scares me to keep starting over. I've had black women downplay my real long hair just to go and sew 30 inches into their heads. I'm not saying short hair can't be nice. Ok. TGIN has a great protein conditioner and moisturizing conditioner. I highly recommend using those two together. Do the protein first followed by the moisturizing conditioner. Only do a protein conditioner once a month for you hair. You can do the moisturizing deep conditioner every week. When you have dry hair and color. The focus is on protein and moisture balance. You did a protein overload with the hair conditioner that you used. After a protein treatment, always follow up with a moisturizing conditioner or even a nice hot oil treatment to being back the softness of your hair. Ideally, you could have worn your hair in two strand twists or braided or twisted your natural hair down. Next, spray your hair with aloe vera juice or water, follow it with one of those moisturizing sprays with oils and humectants. Finally, seal with a light oil or hair lotion . Do that every day or every other day. That would help with hydration and moisture retention for dry hair. Shampoo and condition hair every week or every two weeks at most. My natural hair with no color gets dry quick and this is what I do. I hydrate and moisturize frequently during the week to keep it soft and supple between hair washes. Hope this helps.

Honestly, I've never dyed my hair, but I do use a 5:1 water & glycerin spray, the 4C Only style cream, and castor oil to seal and moisturize my hair. I've had really wonderful results. I also use African Black soap to wash my hair and that gets it really clean. I use the TGIN hair mask to condition it. I've heard that the temp colored hair creams can be better for your hair if you like playing with color bc they just wash out. Or just adding fake hair or clip ins. Good luck on your journey!

Castor oil, vegetable glycerine, Shea butter and olive oil are my 4c staples. African black soap is amazing for the hair and body. I purchased a huge block of it once 😂 It lasted over a year (cut into smaller bars) and was wonderful, but I prefer the liquid soap. The bar is too organic lol. It had broken pod pieces inside that would scratch the skin. Fine for the hair, but not skin and face!

Your hair is beautiful. Weekly deep conditioning. Also, know your protein / moisture balance levels. The moisture makes it soft , protein strengthens it. Find products that your hair likes, they don’t always have to be expensive. Leave in conditioners can be a game changer. Just make sure you have a good clarifying shampoo and one that moisturizes. You are on your way .

This happened to me before as well. I don't dye my hair anymore. I just wear wigs or weaves in a color I would like to try on myself so I don't mess up my natural hair. I feel your pain! Exactly why I don’t dye my hair anymore! As much as I want to. Highlights don’t seem to be so bad. But that all over bleach.. no matter how much I trimmed my ends were always dry! 1 suggestion, keep your hair in mini twist (moisturized to the max), and trim regularly. U won’t have to worry about so much manipulation and breakage! It’s a good way to transition, because you are going to overall end up just cutting out all that color which is the goal, but u can keep your hair. But if it’s breaking to bad just cut it sis!

When I used to bleach and color, I would keep a rinse over it. Literally lift the color of my hair, dye it my desired colors, and do a rinse over it. When the rinse rinsed, Id put another rinse in.
My childhood hair dresser taught me this at 14 when I started coloring my hair. I would get copper shades a lot and my hair never broke off. Back then they didnt have natural hair products and I did not take good care of my hair. All I did was keep a rinse in, condition when I washed and I never had breakage.
I personally liked the color deposit from the rinse but they do make no color hair rinses. Rinses are still my fall back when my hair is dry. In the winter I put a clear rinse over my hair. When I tried the Brazilian blowout, it dried my hair out, I put a clear rinse over it. It saves me from breakage.
My daughter has super dry ends, so this summer Im trying a rinse on the dry bottom half of her hair. Hopefully this will preserve that hair.
    Hope this helps.

I had blonde hair once. I did it after a I cut my hair off. After the roots grew out like 5/6 inches I colored the root the copper color. So I had blonde hair about 7/8 inches at the bottom and top was copper.
I stopped taking care of it during the Spring of 2019. I cut it again and died it back black. Grew it out again and cut off what woukd have been the copper color.
In my opinion, with the color...Aussie is not the way. Creme of Nature Shampoo and conditioner (that is an old school throwback. Use the regular products not all that "honey this and that mess"). Also, you could use Bentonite Clay mask (you choose what additive you want woth the apple cider vinegar to mix the mask). That helped me for the year and a half I had the color.

I never dyed my hair however i cut my hair recently cause i wanted a fresh start and all the same length (it was nearly waist length) and i love it!! I'd definitely consider washing your hair more regularly and looking into protein moisture balance. I never had colored hair, but my hair used to be super dry, brittle, and the ends were always breaking off. Every time I took it out of a protective style my hair would fall off onto my shoulders. After learning to wash my hair once a week and maintain a healthy moisture protein balance, my hair thrived.
I also stopped using Aussie products except for their 3 min deep conditioner to detangle before I shampoo.. but only because it's cheap. Aussie products aren't sufficient enough for my hair.

I’d say keep it old school. No more dyes. Only add black rinse or crystal clear rinse. Wash hair well with a clarifying shampoo this is the most important step. It’s how hair locks in moisture from the conditioners, leave ins or masks. The hair must be well saturated in water for products to absorb completely in the hair.

When you lighten(bleach) your hair, it becomes damaged (brittle). You are stripping your hair of color. Therefore, it's extremely fragile and dry like straw. I would suggest that you do not lighten your hair. You can darken it because adding a darker shade does not necessarily cause it to become dry. I've done the same in the past, I no longer make it any shade lighten than my natural tone., but I do add darker shades. Good luck 😊
