I’ve got one just like it only it’s a 1986 and has blue fork boots Looks like yours are missing Your missing a mirror too I’ll never sell mine Bought it from the original owner in 88
That was my first bike, first transpo ever, right off the showroom floor. Never been more proud to own anything in my life! I learned so much on that bike, I wish I knew where it was today, or if it even still exists, last thing I heard was that it fell off the back of a truck on the highway at speed when some idiots tried to transport it with just the kickstand and rubber straps >< I'm sure it's turned into a toaster by now, but the memories will last forever :) I think I remember doing 87 MPH drafting with head down on it when i was a 15 yr old shrimp @ 120ibs lol...I wouldn't doubt if that memory is a little burry ^^ but it was fast to me! super flickable for Florida orange grove dirt riding, or just slow trails, or as a commuter bike. Think about buying a scooter? If you can wrench a little, get one of these instead, you won't regret it! super capable bike!
Amazing cold start if it really was sitting that long. Did you add engine oil, clean the air filter or change the plug at all prior to that cold start attempt? I agree with you - its a dang nice looking bike.
@@BraapEffex That's amazing, I've seen relatively new bikes that sit for just a few months that do not want to start! This thing is tucked in a barn for who knows how long and its ready to hit the trail...looking forward to seeing what you do with it. Good channel.
All of those honda 250 engines from the 80s sound the same. I used to drive my father's honda 250 big red and it sounded a lot like the bike in this vid. Same engine design for the top end I think but different transmission.

I just Restored a 1974 XL Honda 250 after four years. I Love it. It's not about the money. I am so glad to be able to ride it. Happy New Year.
I had a 1986 red engine, best handling running bike I ever had
Just proves how amazing the xr-xl series is🤘🏻💯
Yeah I can't believe it started first kick. I bought the bike not running. Had no idea it would fire up 👆.
I'm going to pick up a 1984 XL250R tomorrow.
Awesome! It's a great bike, can't go wrong with a Honda.
I had a brand new 87 XL250R my senior year of high school. Best bike I ever had, wish I didn't have to sell it.

How much did you pay if you don’t mind me asking? I have the same bike with 2800 miles
Not sure. Think $1500

Thanks man! Only thing I did was add fresh gas and topped off the oil to the top mark. And it fired right up!

@@jaredbauer3058 yeah I was literally shocked it started up. Wasn't expecting it to fire right up.
Very nice bike. How much were you able to score her for?
Paid a lot for it because I wanted it bad. 🤦♂️ Lol
