Great video! Ironically I watched this video during our drive to Montana for my first ever elk hunt. I have cheered, had the wind knocked out of me, and even cried in sadness and joy watching your videos over the past few months. I have learned a lot about gear and keeping a great attitude in the field from your videos. Thank you for all you do! Good stuff!
@ We had a great hunt. We had snowfall on our first day hunting and through the night and it made some areas of the mountains unavailable to us. Saw elk, mule deer, whitetail, moose and a few in our group were successful. My next elk hunt won’t be in the mountain peaks of Montana and hopefully will include some land we can traverse on instead of riding around on logging roads scanning the face of the mountains across the canyons. This hunt was nothing like what I saw in any elk hunting videos but it was still a good hunt with great folks.
These "failed" hunt videos are always so rewarding to watch as a hunter and fan of the channel. Makes you really appreciate the grind and all of the times that you DO get to notch a tag. Love the content and keep up the GREAT work guys. Looking forward to the rest of the season.
I like seeing even the big dogs strike out sometimes. Helps me to know, when I am packing out tag soup, it’s not just because I suck. Hahaha. Sometimes it’s just the way the chips fall. Good hunt guys. Thanks for sharing.
I will add…MAKE MORE ELK RAGU DICK!!! I’ve yet to be able to purchase it!!! Love y’all and hopefully is takin how I meant it, playful. Pretty pathetic I feel the need to say those words. Anyways keep huntin, maybe one day y’all come to my family’s cabin in Gunnison. LMK
Eric it sucks that you did not get the tag filled in the high country of New Mexico. You showed a ton of heart to keep trying to find the bull that you wanted to kill on the tag. I hope that you get a to hunt that stud of a bull in 2023. Please keep making videos with Chad Money Mendes. Loving the way that you guys are showing the 2022 hunts this year.
The title to this episode says it all! Nothing better than being on a hunt with good bros regardless of the outcome. Hunting elk in the rugged mountains of New Mexico is no joke. Being a resident I recommend trying public land elk hunts in northern new Mexico for good challenge.
I watched shed crazy’s perspective and knew the outcome but still watched every minute and enjoyed the journey! Mad props to you for staying true and keeping your chin up! I hope you go back this season and put ur tag on him! Keep up the amazing content
Awesome video! This looks like a really tough hunt gotta commend you guys for sticking with it!! hope to see you get a shot of that bull next year Eric!
Probably killing wildlife. My Wife breeds Huskies, you get even two of the BEST NATURED ones together and they go "pack mentality" and start killing. Just for the FUN of it. Ask me how my $$$ and I know. Our two TAMEST ones got loose, killed sheep, left them un-eaten, got shot at. I didn't blame the guy for shooting at them at all. Cost me $500. We've taken them to deer camp IN GIANT CRATES. The coyotes came in and started calling outside of camp. 5 Huskies and one giant Malamute answered back. THE COYOTES shut up QUICK! Never heard from them again!
Just got back from my first Colorado Elk hunt. I know the feeling. Originally planned for a full day of scouting before season opens, and four full days of hunting before having to go home. But a blizzard on the way to Colorado had other plans. Instantly cut my hunt in half and was left with two full days to get the job done. I seen cow elk, mule deer, and plenty of other various wildlife. But no bull elk. Although I will remember this hunting trip forever with my dad.
Another amazing hunt, without the struggle the reward wouldn’t be as gratifying, another reason I love this channel it’s more about the journey/adventure with great friends then all about the kill
No worries still a great expedition. Those big bulls are big for a reason. They are the ghosts of the forest. They live there 365. That’s hard to overcome in 5 days. Our archery hunts are even short here compared to other places. Good video, it’s great that you show that it doesn’t always work out. Mad respect for you all. Can’t wait to see the next one brother.
I can't help but think of all the knowledge you gained about that particular drainage. The only way to really learn an area is to put boots to the ground. Bummer you didn't fill the tag but now you have the knowledge for future hunts for yourself or friends. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
Love the video man from the highs and lows thanks for showing all of it puts perspective on the tough part of hunting and that is actually the hunting you did great keep going Eric!!! Great camera work to Matty Ice. The shots were on point! Keep it up
Sorry you didn’t get that big boy. A little elk hunting tip from an old man, when the first snow flies even if it doesn’t stick or cover the feed they always seem to migrate downhill to lower elevations where they know the feed won’t get covered up. Love the video. Subscribed.
Man I can hear the bitter sweet expression Eric. Like you said, it was a "once in a lifetime bull" for that particular tag. Great video and guess what, it was all worth it for that CAMARADERIE!
I know the feeling missed my opportunity a week ago. Our last day, we both knew bulls weren't in the scope, so we settled for cow elk. In my book. Meat is meat. I'm sure next year we'll all have our opportunities to get the trophy bulls we want. Remember it's the memories we make wether we hunt solo or in groups. Stay up n stay head strong brother
Great hunt guys. Dang that was a nice bull. Maybe you’ll get another opportunity next year. Wish I had the opportunity to even shoot a bull. If given the opportunity one day I’ll take whatever size is in front of me. You guys are very blessed to live the life you live. Thanks for taking us along. Take care, see ya :)
Awesome hunt! I would still consider that a success! 👍🏽 Seeing a bull like that is always a score for me even if I don’t harvest him. Plus suffering on the mountain is good way to give back to the mountain. 🙏🏽😉 anyhow great teamwork over all! 💪🏽thanks for sharing and stay blessed my friends
For you that have never ridden a horse. You need to shorten up them stirrups. In order to wear your feet feel like you're gonna you can push-up. You can actually move up in the saddle. You can stand above the battle. Okay, not not a lot. Just a couple inches, but your legs are what gives you the cushion of riding the horse until you get in rhythm with the horse
I think the old videos are better. I want to feel like im there. I would like to see more money and shed crazy. More camp life. The day to day series does that. This is too curated. Hollywood. Still watched and appreciate the content. Much love from oklahoma
One of my favorite videos is casey making the meatballs and Eric is unloading his 4 wheeler for more light and casey says which ones that? Is that betsy? And he leans in and says he has names for em..lol hilarious
Your correct but we are lucky there still on u tube wouldn't want to upset some city grocery getter only thinks food should come from the grocery store anything else is wrong
Another great adventure. The "movie" style this year is fantastic. Only 2k subscribers to go until 400K. Let's go Hush Nation, subscribe and help push Hush to the top of yet another mountain!
With that many guys don't be scared to have someone bomb down in and stir stuff up. While other guys continue to watch the spot. Especially with multiple tags.
That don't work with elk, you'll blow them completely out of there then your hunt will be over. Elk do not push. Speaking from experience and many times trying
@@davecarr4070 as long as you play the wind you can. I hunt elk with archery equipment and still hunt to within bow range before they know I'm there. One guy goes in and one stays back to catch them moving out.
That was a tough hunt. I think holding out for that big bull was the better decision. You have killed plenty of elk. You would definitely regret just hanging a tag on one when a giant like that was possibly just bedded just out of sight.
And a pass on bird in hand leaves you with one still in the bush for next time. Never any guarantees, but that's what it is all about. That's the thing about becoming trophy hunters sometimes the experience of seeing an exceptional animal is the trophy.
Okay. The dog situation.... SO NOT COOL. If I were Eric or Chad, once I heard the owner on the phone say the dog likes to run around up there and chase elk I'd absolutely kill the stupid thing. Ruining hunts aside, if that dog is up in the hills chasing elk and other wildlife - I'm killing it. Total douche move by the owner letting him run free and cause trouble.

Great to relive this one! Matty killed it on the vid!
This is one aspect of Hush I love... The real of hunting... Sometimes it doesn't work out.
Cool video, loved the anticipation! I agree, let's see more hunts with Chad Money Mendes!
I like seeing even the big dogs strike out sometimes. Helps me to know, when I am packing out tag soup, it’s not just because I suck. Hahaha. Sometimes it’s just the way the chips fall. Good hunt guys. Thanks for sharing.

Mega bull that one Wow!
💪🏻 Eric pin this comment 😂
Funnest times on the mountain aren’t always standing over an elk. Great Vid!
Let me just say before watching the entire video. This is a team!! This is gonna be good
That was a giant!!! Tough on those 5 day seasons! Awesome video!

Nice hunt guys . Wow what a gorgeous bull . What we all dream about . The passion like that is awesome
Hey that was solid hunting and effort.
The clip of the fog below somewhere around half way was gorgeous
Always good to suffer a little on your hunts, totally agree with that statement. Your not growing or learning if your not doing hard things.👍🏻

Eric, please give a little insight on the new version of bino harness. Love the content, keep it up.
Spaghetti w/meatballs and beef stroganoff are my favorite.
Good to see you held out for your number 1 Bull, awesome video.

Great video, filming and commentary was awesome

What a tank of a bull y’all saw. Wish the weather would of been a little better so y’all could of had a better chance to put a good stalk on him

Dang! That was a monster! I would have done the same thing. Thanks for keeping it real guys.
Head up Eric. That’s good hunting.
I would have ate my tag for that Giant too. Awesome video fellas 👊🏻
We need a t-shirt or hat with the dog on it 🤣
That's a wolf in montana 🤣🤣.
Especially if that girl sees it then goes and brags it up and skins it lol
🤣
Haha. Exactly the first thing I thought too.
What unit, 9?
😂well hope y'all learned it's better to hunt to feed your family rather than hunt for "a big set of horns"
Great hunt! That bull might not have all the luck next time and walk out into the open. let's hope so!
Only time will tell 👊🏻
I love how the dog just hangs out all day!
Me too!!
Partnering up with one of the best featherweights of all time!
Loved the video
