    Things like this make me physically uncomfortable. Her teacher is seriously setting her up for an injury. Even the walk out at the beginning is completely wrong. No one walks out en pointe like that. She should have been on demi pointe. And then her feet are pointed all wrong, and her body probably isn't even mature enough for her to be wearing pointe shoes at all.

    for anyone who's wondering (not sure how many people are still viewing this video), this girl's teacher is *Marina O'Neill* of *Young Ballet of London*. I was a student of hers ... unfortunately (I'm not the person in the video though, although I do know her). Very bad teacher is all I'll say ... not just incompetent and unqualified, but also downright nasty, to put it lightly.

    Oh, that poor baby! Why is she in pointe shoes first, and then in a giant tutu, staring at the ceiling and trying this variation?! Her teacher should be forcibly retired. She is very expressive and brave, and if her parents immediately (if not sooner) take her far from whatever school she is in and get her some real training, she could be a lovely dancer. Read until the end:
    Though she was extremely messy, I completely blame this on her teacher and her parents for allowing her to do this. She definitely has some talent but this variation is far too challenging for a little girl, many professionals would even struggle with it. She should not be en pointe this young, it will possibly ruin her career if she keeps going on like this. Her attitude needs some toning down, but the effort was fantastic I only hope that she finds a good ballet teacher who will take her best qualities and let them shine by fixing all of her technical errors and going back to the basics. I feel so bad for this little girl, she was exploited terribly, hopefully she will keep dancing after some of the rather harsh comments made by a few.

    That is absolutely painful to watch. She is way too young to be en pointe, and that role particularly. She will be injured before she is even close to having a career if they keep pushing her that hard.

    Horrible and highly questionable judgement to put this unprepared child in this sorry display. Poor taste from the bizarre entrance throughout. This girl belongs in a better school at the very least, and whoever put her in this embarrassing and vulgar charade needs to have their motives examined. Totally appalling. Hopefully this child did not sustain injuries.

    Her teacher shouldn't have made her start pointes that young . Well most of dancers do start that young but their ankles are ready . But even if she doesn't do it on pointes , I personally think that she doesn't dance very well even if she's nine. But she is very brave to do a competition .

      Look, kudos to the young girl for having a go, but she is in no way physically ready for this and she's running a very real risk of injury. This isn't "brave" or "precocious," it's foolhardy and negligent, and her teacher needs a kick up the arse for making the girl perform a variation far beyond her current abilities.

  • @jamielaw4749
    @jamielaw4749 8 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    No, she's not a bad dancer. She's an amazing dancer. She has lots of artistry, flow of movement and musicality. Technique? Not so much, but that's the fault of her teacher. She needs to change studios, and she'll be excellent. Her pointe shoes are also not broken in and don't fit properly...

    I may not be a ballet teacher nor am I a professional dancer (or even close to it), but I believe that this girl does have potential. She just needs better training and should not be en pointe. She should take another year or two to strengthen her ankles and her body as a whole (WITHOUT going en pointe), and then maybe go en pointe again when she is stronger. That is just my opinion, though. :D

    • @lizb853
      @lizb853 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Reese overlock,
      You may not be a ballet teacher but I can assure you that you have hit the nail, clean on the head. She does indeed have potential, but she absolutely HAS like the day before yesterday, GOT to get out of that hell hole of a ballet school that shr currently attends, and go to.a teacher with qualifications behind her name.
      THIS current butcher/ monster obviously doesn't even know the basics, and how that one EVER got to start a ballet school is marginally beyond me.
      All I will say is, that I am speaking as a retired, but 100% fully qualified ballet teacher of 28 years experience, who not only taught dancing, but to be allowed to teach it, had to. Know basic anatomy, to know where the bones, muscles and tendons were, so that injury could be avoided, and I held qualifications from 3 different societies of teachers of dancing.

    Leaving aside the performance issues, I think the Esmeralda is totally unsuited for a little girl, period. The context is that Esmeralda is dancing for men to throw money (sort of 17th century pole dancing) and it's meant to be fiery, sensual, sexy and passionate. I get the icks seeing a nine year old performing it.

  • @lulasvlogies

    wow she has so much artistry and passion! walking on her top toes at the start has never been done before and was a risky move but she executed it perfectly! She has so much passion and confidence but no wonder why because she is so amazing! i am a ballerina myself and could never be like that! although i inspire to be like her everyday! i could not stop watching because she carried me away into a trance!

    Girl walked on like she was wearing high heels. Honestly I feel so bad for her. They should’ve picked a variation that could show what she has, not one that shows all her technical faults. And my good lord her poor feet. It’s basically asking for an injury. WHO LET HER???
