    Hi, thanks for making the video with the closer look at the ecam and autobrake. Your videos are such an inspiration for me and really is the boost I need to keep going. My build is 1.5 years in now and its never ending and very expensive. I like you are a DIYer so I build as much as I can. Nothing beats wood, switches and arduinos 😂. Looking forward to all your videos and thanks for helping me with your guides. Thanks Sam. Alex 👍

      Hi Alex. I am glad you enjoyed the video. I agree, nothing like wood, switches and arduinos! Making it yourself is a lot more satisfying than buying I think, cheaper too. But at the same time it’s a long long process. Anyway, I think we are all on our quest for more realism and any kind of physical switch and button helps with that! :) cheers!

    Great ! But how have you added these trim annunciators to the FSPM throttle ? At 1st they're only blue as fair as I know. And is it working ?

      @@laviateur6627 Hi, thanks for the comment, the unit came with just basic blue/grey painted sections which I have added vinyl stickers to in order to get the correct annunciations for trim. They aren’t functional sadly, but the trim wheel itself is and does spin. On mine it is purely cosmetic trim indication

    Nice cockpit!! With a lot of DIY part, I like that! I'm planning on building an A320 homecockpit too but for VR. It should be much simpler, no led wiring or instrument display.

    Which panel is this? Is it a CPFlight? (the autopilot and the EFIS)
    They assured me it would work with the Fenix A319- is that false?
    It’s connected to the network via a LAN cable, right?

    • @My320Sim
      @My320Sim  23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@rickys.9219 Hi, thanks for the comment. Yes this is a CP Flight unit I have in these videos (until recently). It is their older USB model purchased some time ago, they had updated their drivers to create some compatibility but for me I found it to be lacking a little. I have emailed countless times to assist them with developing a driver that ensures the FCU works like the real thing, providing feedback but it has been hit and miss if I get a reply.
      The driver and panels DO work with Fenix as of recently and I can confirm YES they work with the A319 and A320. I haven’t tried the 321 yet.
      I believe the new units do use Ethernet connection yes but I don’t know much more about them than that.
      For me, the experience with the CPFlight panels has been rocky. I used them with Xplane 11 originally with no problem. With MSFS it was another story.
      The panels work 99% with the FlyByWire Airbus. The only thing lacking is the FPA function and Chrono button not working. The other features all work as they should though.
      For the Fenix, it took ages for support to be created and when it was they just didn’t work at all. Push pull commands wrong, hardware values didn’t write properly to the sim, Baro setting issues etc, these have now been fixed mostly. The values for heading and altitude, speed etc do sync to the sim now, but with a lag. So I find for heading you have to pull and wait for the hardware to update before you can set a value otherwise the plane goes off in a random direction. For altitude, you cannot set an altitude by fast rotating the knob as the value will initially change and then ‘bounce back’ to a different random value somewhere between the original and new. Then on the PFD of the aircraft in sim will be a value maybe 1000’ higher or lower. If you want VS, you have to pull and wait for the value to appear before you can change it. Doesn’t take a long time but it is noticeable if you are flying it on busy airspace like VatSim. The Baro function; I found that you can change between STD and Baro/QNH but not to QFE on it. The push pull functions of Altitude and Heading are bugged, same for VS. Bugged in a manner that if you pulled for open climb and then at TOC allow the plane to go into ALT, if you then want to descend or climb higher with Openclimb, you have to push for managed climb/Descent first and then re-pull. It’s as if the software doesn’t recognise the pull/push function as being momentary.
      To fix this I emailed them saying that Fenix requires an “on pull/push” and “on release” command for the buttons, unlike in FBW. I got no reply and it hasn’t been fixed.
      These issues are present on mine but I cannot comment for the newer Ethernet model.
      I found the panel to be high quality but the backlighting and display left something to be desired for me. For this reason I changed to WinWing, I much prefer it. Very responsive and has much better control with the Fenix, works just like the real thing. The only thing for WinWing is the panel is plastic and not an engraved acrylic with metal back boxing like CP Flight.
      My overall opinion is that CP Flight charge a lot for their panels and I think for them in a professional sim they will be fine, running with ProSim or JeeHell FMGS. But for Fenix they just don’t work right and the support doesn’t seem to be there to make them work right. The focus seems to always be on high value cockpit sales instead.
      To summarise, yes it works, but with limitations still (as of 9th Oct 2024) and I think there are better FCUs on the market, even the WingFlex one looks great, it looks near the same to CP Flight but I heard it is plug and play with Fenix, a possible alternative perhaps? - cheers and I hope this helps :)

    • @My320Sim
      @My320Sim  23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Sorry forgot to add, the CPFlight one uses a driver software they made called FS_COM. It works okay but unless you have hardware control for the backlight such as a potentiometer or toggle switch, you have to turn it on in the software, and whenever the software runs to link with the sim, the panel will be lit up. So if you have a cockpit setup like mine, it means even fully cold and dark, the panel is bright and fully powered. With the WinWing one I found it goes full cold and dark and turns off and on correctly with the aircraft. - something little perhaps but it helps the immersion when the FCU is in the same power state of the aircraft
      The backlight is controllable via holding the SPD/MACH button and then turning the knobs, you can dim and brighten it but it’s not like that IRL and sometimes I find it doesn’t register the push of the MACH button, so values end up changing in flight
      Edit: I should also mention the unit’s APPR and LOC buttons don’t light up with the Fenix for some reason. They do with the FBW.
      My recent video with Madeira shows some of the bugs going into Gatwick towards the end. I hope this helps

    Cool stuff :-) Did you build the FCU yourself or any experience with eg Wingflex?

    • @My320Sim
      @My320Sim  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@mr.airspace hi, thank you! The FCU was one I bought a while ago, it’s a second hand CP Flight unit which I got back in 2019. I used to have a 737 MCP and EFIS which I traded in against the FCU and glareshield. In all honesty I cannot recommend the unit from CP Flight, the push-pull functions aren’t like the real thing and the unit itself relies on the CP Flight driver. The driver works for the FBW A32NX but with a lot of limitations, eg the chrono button will crash FSUIPC, the Master Warning lights have the issues mentioned in the video. The company said a few months ago that they now support the Fenix Airbus with it too. It doesn’t work at all with that aircraft, I uploaded a video with the issues on my channel for them to address and a month ago they said they would look into it after their holidays. Nothing has happened yet though so their support isn’t good either. I saw on Facebook other people with the same issues.
      I’m looking forward to the WinWing units. I plan to replace the whole glareshield with them as they work out of the box. Plus, the WinWing stuff has mobiflight support, which (for me) means that it will work with the panels I have built, not requiring another software to run.
      Sorry it’s a long answer but no I didn’t build the FCU, although I’m sure if I had it would work much better than this one! 🤣 The WingFlex unit does look incredible though but sadly it is very expensive!

      @@ustyboy_11 hello, I use under cabinet led lighting. They come as small round light disks which plug into the mains, I then cut a circle of cardboard out and in that I cut out a small triangle to allow the light through. The cardboard was then stuck over the light fixture to create the effect. It works fairly well but doesn’t dim - at least yet - I might fit a dimmer one day
