First up on the private sightseeing tour of Chandigarh is the Rock Garden, located in sector 1 of the city. This beautiful garden is the brainchild of Nek Chand, a former road inspector of Chandigarh, in 1957.
The garden has been constructed as an open-air exhibition made of urban and industrial wastes by Nek Chand. This massive 40-acre garden is home to some of the most innovative and colourful mosaics of art pieces and sculptures made from industrial and home waste.
Nek Chand began the project on his own and today the garden has some 5000 statues on display. The Rock Garden is the most famous attraction of Chandigarh and is a must visit.
The Rock Garden is divided into segments depending on the types of installations and accompaniments in them. Segment one is a maze of terracotta pots, chambers and nooks that are decorated with tiles, mirrors, bangles, tube light pieces and even toilet marble parts.
The statues here mostly represent the various animal, birds and human figures. The second segment of the Rock Garden has a huge waterfall and is a favourite among photographers.
2. Sukhna Lake

Resting at the foothills of Shivaliks, Sukhna Lake is a beautiful lake located in Chandigarh and is the next place to visit in our one day Chandigarh trip. The man-made Sukhna Lake was constructed in 1958 and stretches over an area of 3 KM. This pristine lake is now a hotspot for fitness enthusiasts who come for walking and jogging and also for children and picnic goers.

The Rose Garden of Chandigarh is located in sector 16 of the city and is one of the most serene places in the one day tour of Chandigarh. Rose Garden is a massive garden spread over an impressive area of almost 30 acres.
The garden is always crowded with tourists, botanists and nature lovers. This garden is also the largest garden of its kind in Asia. The construction of the garden was finished in 1967 under the guidance of the First Chief Commissioner, MS Randhawa. You may also know the Rose Garden as Zakir Hussain Rose Garden since it was named after India’s former president, Zakir Hussain.
5. Leisure Valley (Bougainvillea Park)
