Mitsubishi built these under license until 1998. Originally for military purposes but Mitsubishi still made them to be sold for whatever purpose a buyer wanted to use them for.
If you take one of these to a Jeep meet , a lot of minds would be blown 🤯. Many don't even know this was a thing...but it was totally legit.
I didn’t even think of that lol this would go crazy at a jeep meetup
I think after the Mahindra mess last year (or was it the year before), a lot more Jeep owners are aware of the whole licensing thing. As to this Jeep, is it me or is it a modified CJ3? That would make sense since the licensing agreements were prolly pre-AMC
@@WanderingCactus What was the Mahindra mess?
@@thumpertorque_ Mahindra brought one of the CJs, either the 3 or 5 into the US as the Roxor UTV, and Chrysler wasn't amused. I think the lawsuit just got settled in the last few weeks, mostly because Chrysler had no legitimate reason to sue left, and yet they were continuing to do so.
I grew up with these in Sri lanka. They pretty much built these under jeep lisense from the 60s, I believe. Amazing vehicles.
Oh wow I never heard of these or the merger before seeing this car in person I thought it was a kit or something
@Waybeforethefame there are many companies made jeeps under their license. Another company is Mahindra back in the early days.. 2nd gen Delica, L200 pickups, and this jeep shared engines to 4wd components. These are the info I remember from when I was 7-13 years old (so double check my info) Great memories me and my dad spending time with these cars..
The black things you were standing on in the rear are called bumperretts. Old school version of a bumper for the wranglers
Wow thats crazy lol
Looks like a 4d32 engine, which they use for the Mitsubishi/Fuso Canter. The one they use in Delica and Pajero is the 4d56 2.5 liters; 4m40 2.8 liters; or the 4m41 3.2 liters for the diesel
If you have a chance, there's another Mitsubishi Military Jeep, called "Type 73" which can be used daily. Parts are similar with a LWB late 90s Pajero
Ima check it out online now
The tensioning strap on the bikini top is fitted incorrectly. It should wrap around the roll bar and double back to the windscreen. You should have a hook on the inside of the screen to fasten it to.
It's much neater and won't get in the way.
Nice saw it at the port when it came in
Someone in Miami needs to buy it
Thats pretty cool man love it
Perfect for an island or warm spot
This jeep is pretty amazing!
Its calling your name LOL
I'm thinking about getting one. There's an import lot not too far from me but the thing is that I'm '6"5 lmao
Your becoming a Jeep lover that is so ironic
Slowing happening just needs to be a smaller jeep like the jimny, cant do those huge wranglers
This thing is awesome. I'd drive it around here all year round. This guy I knew in college drove his old Jeep CJ-7, no doors and a small top like this one, throughout the winters (in Rhode Island). Those little loops (bumperettes) are indeed the bumpers. And the other guy was correct...the attachment on the back drivers-side was for a CB antenna. More info here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeep_CJ#Mitsubishi_Jeep
I want this so bad. Think they'd do a straight trade for the Suzuki Carry?
I would give them a call idk about straight trade you'd probably have to add some cash. The suzuki does have a title which helps on your end
just bought one of my own, and i love it. Coming from a 92' jimny, this rides a lot rougher for sure, and the turbo doesn't kick as much, but definitely more capable overall. Would you have bought this if it had a complete closed top and doors?
As a jimny owner from 0-30mph its deffinetly feels quicker but i like how solid this jeep felt. Living in NYC i think even with the plastic doors i would be scared but if this had removable doors and roof like a wrangler i would 100% buy something like this.
Next you're getting a Wrangler lol.
That spring thing on the back I believe is an antenna mount or at least looks like the ones I saw when I was in the army on Humvees and other vehicles.
The thing with wrangles are they're HUGE idk how people drive those around NYC this thing is small like the jimny lol
@@Waybeforethefame the old YJ and TJ Wranglers are "relatively" small. The newer ones, especially the 4 door models, not so much lol.
Hey man thanks for helping Gus (Goose) and I understand the 4x4 on the Jimny. I ended up buying it, if you are ever in Gainesville FL hit me up. I
Enjoy the jimny im going to miss mine its been a good run ive had 2 but my second one i went crazy lol
I've seen military trucks with those same loops on the rear. I guess it's a bumper?
Man I have no idea but I guess so lol
You’ll never break a land speed record in that but definitely out off-road plenty of people
😂
They also make one that looks a little like my Willys wagon.
Your Green machine is wayyyyy cooler than this
Where is this j53 jeep ? Is it for sale.. can I get the info.. cheers
