    Really enjoyed this one Adrian, (Just like all the others you have done!) Like you, I also bought the SGS6 from Glasgow Angling. However, as yet I've not been out with it as I'm in the process of shortly moving down to Cornwall from Sussex, (would be there now if solicitors would get a move on!) and I'm saving it for the first outing! Just watching this video brings out the "Kid with a new toy" feeling! should have grown outta this at 65!! 😄...Oh please be aware you have cost me a small fortune due to your past videos and reviews🤫...If I lose a Senko a cast I'll still be wrassing for good Dozon trips or more!..

      @@Cavanpikefishing I’m sure they will work. It’s finding the fish that matters most. If you can fish when there’s a bit of swell or fizz in the water they will be about. Look for choke points or structure.

    Like all Savage gear rods, slightly top-heavy, meaning up-sizing the reel one size is a good move for balance. All the action is in the top third, allowing long casts but not, forgiving when playing a fish. When under heavy load, the curve reveals a couple of flat spots, and there's no action to speak of in the lower half. Having said all that, they are decent enough rods which cast well and are strong enough to handle good fish. To my mind, the SGS6 range do not, justify the full retail prices, as they are no significant improvement on the cheaper models like SGS5,4,and 2. Sure, the fittings are better, but the rod is very similar. If, you can get them in a sale for £100, they're well worth that price.
    If only, they weren't that appalling blue!
    SGS8 is pretty good, all round, but it should be, as it's the top of their range of lure rods.

      @@thorfinnravenfeeder I shall keep what you have said in mind. Maybe further use will reveal more. Certainly worth the sale price. Guess the colour is a marmite thing😁

      @@thorfinnravenfeeder maybe further use will reveal more but like you said good if you can get them on sale. It didn’t feel too heavy in use but I may add some weight to the butt to counteract this. Need me a SGS8 for a good price to compare.😁

    I really like your videos. For some reason, I don’t like Savage Gear. I have two Road Runners which I bought 10 years ago which did well for pike and perch, but the brown colour put me off them! I guess their products must be good judging by their popularity but I cannot bring myself to buy another one. Perhaps I will after this video.

      @@CJL2008 hang fire as I am finding the varnish/rings at the ring feet are rusting quickly? I’ve cleaned the rod after each trip so I am surprised. Glad you enjoyed it. I still like the rod though

      @ That’s not good; rust??? Bring it back to the shop. Given your fishing experience, I know you clean your rods down. Will go for a SHIMANO Lunamis instead;

    • @TheConstantAngler
      @TheConstantAngler  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @CJL2008 quite surprised when I noticed it yesterday as I wash it off after every trip having only once left it for 24hrs without doing so? It could just be discolouration of the varnish but other rods haven’t done this as much or as quickly, even SG rods that I have owned for years and abused

    Hi I have a SGS5 9'2 9-42g and that is a cracking rod,I've just picked up a tidy second hand SGS8 identical spec to the 5,they are cracking rods,I think some people don't realise how good they are,im no expert on rods,but if Henry Gilbey had input in designing these rods,and he sure does,that's good enough for me,BTW great video I'm off out to see if I can get me a bass 😉

    • @thorfinnravenfeeder
      @thorfinnravenfeeder 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Henry Gilbey talks a good rod, but he would, as he work for Savage Gear. I have a Daiwa Prorex which, casts farther, feels better in the hand, and plays fish much better, and it cost under £100. I also, have an SGS2, an SGS5, and an SGS6. A fishing buddy has an SGS8, so I've used that too. Tbh, the Prorex is a nicer rod than, any of them, though the SGS8 is a fine rod too. I tested the Prorex directly against the SGS8 for casting, and there was no significant difference, but a massive difference in price. Sales hype doesn't catch fish, nor do slick vids.
