@steppy3736 I have about fifty tbr's...which should take me two months but I was hoping to reduce my reading time ... By which I mean, read slower 😅 not gonna happen now
@danielarosindo my tbr is probably double that. 😔 Unfortunately, after sustaining a concussion, I don't read as fast as I used to, but I still buy as quickly. 😂 I wish my brain allowed me to read as much as I used to.
@steppy3736 damn, I hope everything else is fine though... concussions are serious business...I'm lucky that I read fast, in july i had nearly three hundred tbr... luckily I'm very fast...but my list will get bigger again soon.... books are an addition
@danielarosindo yes and no. It's been almost 8 years. The written word area has been affected. I forget how to spell things, I can't read as quickly or for as long as I used to. I also have some necrosis in my brain (from the TBI), so all in all, I'm doing really well considering. It's sad for me, though. I used to read a book a day. Books have always been my best friends.
I've never set up a reading journal before but you make it look so fun! I'm definitely going to have to set one up this year. I love to read but I've never been in a book club before or done a reading challenge so I think that I'm going to have to try both of them this year too! I can't wait. I need to get busy!
I am going to be reading so much next year. I've set a challenge for myself to read a book from my personal TBR, a TBR I created from suggestions of friends, family and one from a character on "Call the Midwife", the book club reads, and any reading challenges that sound like fun... this one for sure. Wow I set my challenge this year for 12 books, then joined BBBC and one reading challenge, and I am set to end up reading more than 36 books for 2024. Next year is going to be crazy, and the journal I chose to be my reading journal may not be big enough for the whole year. So nice to be back to reading.
These prompts will be fun to incorporate into my reading challenge for next year. I will be doing a Pokemon reading challenge, I am calling it 151 books for 151 Kanto Pokemon. I've never broken a hundred when it comes to my reading challenge so I am always trying new challenges, this one will be an awesome addition to my reading challenge next year!
Oooh, fun! As a January baby, I've always considered the snowdrop to be my flower, so I think I'll go with that and try to read Witchcraft for Wayward Girls because that's my most anticipated January release and I've also never read anything by Grady Hendrix! I have a lot of ideas for these prompts, but I'll definitely need to pick them as the months approach, lol. But I love a good floral!
I’m doing a reading challenge of my own next year and had no intention of starting a reading journal for it, but then I saw your video where you set up this journal and I thought “oh well, I guess I’m doing this.” 😂 Love, love, love this aesthetic!!
This is PERFECT for me because I in fact HAVE clip art of that ghost I got from a chocolate wrapper that I was saving for my reading journal because it's pastel goth themed for this year. So now I have a layout to put him on! Also both of the books I plan to read in January fill at least one of those prompts so I'll just have to see which one I finish from first lol
This sounds like fun and definitely something that'll give my recently renewed library card some much needed use (it's honestly been YEARS). Next year I want to dive into reading about people I'd heard about in the various trivia shows I watch and learn more about them so I'm not just doing lucky educated guesses all the time. But this could be a fun thing to add in addition to that
I wasn’t planning on a reading challenge but now 😅 you brought the ghostie… and the prompts sound like fun! I normally don’t like reading but this will be a fun way to try and maybe love reading! Thank you!! Let’s go a Year of Goober!! 😁
I don’t usually do reading challenges other than a yearly number goal, but this is tempting. Most reading challenges always have a few prompts that are too rigid and/or outside my comfort zone for me to want to attempt them. Eg. several prompts to read a bunch of authors from xyz demographics (I find it silly to seek out a book solely based on that), or reading of genres/topics I don’t like or intend to read (like a specific topic in a specific genre, a book of poetry, etc.). But these prompts actually seem flexible enough to naturally incorporate into my reading. :)
We were very mindful in picking our prompts that we want people to be able to apply them pretty much regardless of what genres they read, so it's good to hear you find them flexible 😄💜
I can't wait to try this reading challenge. Love where your ideas from. Sadly at this time I won't be able to join your book club. I have a few ghost pins that look like Goober & 2 of the pins are holding books. 👻
i like the idea of prompts for a book club! its hard to join when i dont know all the books because im sensitive to certain subjects and also absolutely will not read smut but its become increasingly popular
This sounds so fun! Might have to find little printed off pictures of the flowers at the end of the year to glue in a little bouquet in my journal! Hmmm....I *might* have to put off one of my TBRs by a favorite author until January, then I could potentially hit both of the January prompts (I'm assuming the BBBC pick will be new to me).
That's such a cute idea! I hope Ghostie Goober will have the prettiest Bookquet (love the pun) by the end of the year! How did you guys come up with that? It's so creative!
yeah well ok. I didn't want to like the reading stuff, and then you came with the ghostie. I need to befriend the ghosties. As I see the prompts it would actually work with non-fiction too, so I just might do this.
Well... I had planned to challenge myself to 6 books for the year plus whatever Goober had cooking, because I loved Goober back in May 😊. Now... I guess I'm just doing Goober! 😉Excuse me while I go add more layouts to my yearly journal... 😅😁
Sorry Jess, I can’t find the video that shows your setup for this reading journal. Oh I love the ghostie idea. I’m so inspired by this now. I’m in a major reading slump. Thanks so much. I’m hoping this will help me now. 😊👍💐
i wasnt planning on joining a reading challenge. ive never joined one before. i thought i already knew all the pages i was going to put in my reading journal. well, i guess im finally downloading discord lol
Hi Jess and HELP! Im trying to learn how to print words on sticker paper ( gee this would be a great video for you to hint hint) what size did you do your headers?
The size depends on the font 😛 I will normally make a box the size of whatever space I want to fit the header in/across, and then size the font to match that box (I normally don't put the text IN the box because that will minimise how big I can make the lettering without it getting cut off) Hope that helps! 💜
Do you finish the reading journals or they end up with blank pages? Also, it sounds like a good challenge, I just need to pick 12 or, 24 books, most likely 12 because I want to do too many things next year 😅
My current reading journal I started in 2023 so it is nearing towards full but not quite full 🤔 I decided to move out of it though because everything in there was browns and beige and I wanted a colour palette change and it would look a little bit weird if I only had the last quarter of the notebook be colourful 😂
Yup! Sometimes people might be able to use BBBC books for the challenge, depending on the prompt, but we won’t be aiming to make them align if that makes sense 💜
This sounds like fun, but I can't seem to find the free resources (particularly the FAQ for the prompts)? Not sure if I'm doing something wrong (I am super tired lol), but the link in the description only brings up a bunch of your paid resources. I can't seem to find it on your site either 😅
The resource library is 100% free, you just have to enter your name and email to be sent the link to it 😊 Flick me an email at hello@jashii.com if that resource library link didn't make it to your inbox 👌

Well, I had not planned on any reading challenge, just to add books read to my journal...there goes that idea 😅 love Goober
Same! I have a massive TBR pile. Plus I have a 12 months of Faith challenge, and a numbers challenge. Now a Goober challenge 👻
@steppy3736 I have about fifty tbr's...which should take me two months but I was hoping to reduce my reading time ... By which I mean, read slower 😅 not gonna happen now

I read exclusively manga and fanfiction at this point but I may try this challenge! Your reading groups challenges are so easy to join!
Challenge accepted. What’s one more reading challenge? I love all the prompts. Now I would like to source stickers of all 24 flowers.
These prompts will be fun to incorporate into my reading challenge for next year. I will be doing a Pokemon reading challenge, I am calling it 151 books for 151 Kanto Pokemon. I'm soooo excited for this! Feels like it should be very easy to incorporate into my mood reading. I struggle with the more restrictive challenges.
Yeah we wanted to design something that had decent flexibility, but felt a like a lil challenge 😈

Fantastic challenge. I really like how open the prompts are. Thank you 🙏
yes!!! I can't wait!
As if I don't have enough reading challenges for next year already. What's one more. Definitely participating.
I wasn’t planning on a reading challenge but now 😅 you brought the ghostie… and the prompts sound like fun! I normally don’t like reading but this will be a fun way to try and maybe love reading! Thank you!! Let’s go a Year of Goober!! 😁
Aww yiss 🥳 Glad to have you on board! 💜
one of my reading goals for 2025 is to participate in some reading challenges so this is perfect!! Thank you BBB
Most welcome! 💜 Glad to have you on board 😄

i am joining this challenge! it looks so fun and manageable:)
I am so up for this! I'll probably try for the two prompts a month, but we'll see how it goes ❤
Oh this is an exciting one! Love the story to go with it too. ❤ Cant wait to both set up my own spreads and start, lol.
Challenge accepted. Oh absolutely. Can't wait.
Glad to have you on board! 😄💜
you have officially motivated me to create a book journal and join your book club!
Yayyyyy! 🥳 Glad to have you on board!
Also good for bujo & arts n craft themes (possibly writing stories or music).
What a cute challenge! I'm excited!!
Glad you like the look of it 😄💜

Could probably sus having the flower pictures from the printables available on a more neutral background 🤔
I love this idea... and will be borrowing it, not to read though, but as a drawing prompt! 😊❤
Oh cool! Hope you have fun with it 😄
I love this challenge!!! I'll do it for sure!!!
Glad to have you on board! 💜
How exciting! I love a chill challenge 😁
Glad you're excited! 😄

Yeah we wanted prompts that could fit any genre of reader because I quite like non-fiction myself 💜
I don't need another yearly challenge, but this is so cute that I may have to join
Same 😅
Haha join usssss 💜

Love the name!
Haha thanks 😄💜
This sounds like a fun challenge. Can you add the link to the reading group to the description?

@@JashiiCorrin oh I see, I'm learning a lot from you, before setting up my notebooks I'm adding on a list all the things I should consider 😅.
Fun!
Should be a good time! 🥳
And you managed to fill my missing page!! Is this alongside the normal bbbc?
Yup! Sometimes people might be able to use BBBC books for the challenge, depending on the prompt, but we won’t be aiming to make them align if that makes sense 💜
@JashiiCorrin awesome sauce thank you, as I've already made a bbbc page and didn't want to have to scrap it lol 😆
I would like to join this challenge as well
We’d love to have you with us 😄💜
Anyway that the little ghosty goober image can also be a download?
Sure! I can add that to the resource library 🤙
Is this replacing the goober readathon you had last year?
Nope! We’ll still be having our dedicated monthly challenge in May 😊💜

Came late. When does this start?
It's for 2025, so will start on January 1st 😊
I tried to reinstate my Patreon and it won’t let me, any suggestions?
