Amiets Guard House | Brittany | France

The Amiets Guard House (in Cleder) is one of two guard houses constructed in this area in 1744. The house allowed the observation of passing of ships along the coast of Amiets and was used to transmit signals to other coastline guard houses in the event of observations of enemy ships. Although, originally built as a guard house, it later became a customs house.
The building was constructed included a fire place and its positioning intended it to be hidden amongst natural rock formations and not to be seen from the sea.
