Quick note for people like me that had trouble with the gradent step. MAKE SURE YOU CHOOSE SELECT > NONE in the top left before doing the gradient. :)

After you delete the "kawhi" layer the name is still in highlight like it is still floating. So the gradient tool part is not working. Can you help me?

in this video gimp version 2.10.14
I'm using 2.10.18 and I followed all your steps but when I use the gradient tool the photo on the right side is not disappearing.. I also checked the black and white, everything.. but still it's not disappearing.. =(
@Michael John Ibrahim recently i just tried with gimp 2.10.18 and still works fine. see on minutes 3:21, duplicate the face layer first. and in the text layer, right click > alpha to selection. and on the duplicated face layer , right click > add layer mask and choose Selection. now it will make a mask layer. delete the text layer. and dont forget to deselect by going to select > and choose none. and on the first face layer, right click add layer mask choose white (full opacity). then go to gradient tool , make sure the color in black selected, then just drag it, it should dissapear.

Hello whenever i try to do the gradient, the only thing that happens is the letter outline becomes white and when i selct the alpha to seletion it doesn’t pop up with the dashed lines
Had the same Problem you have to go to Tools and add gradient to your Main tools

So i found the gradient tool, if you right click the 'bucket fill' tool and extend it- you should see it!

I just recently try and it's still working. in the face layer add the layer mask and the duplicated face layer, it's from the text selection. all you need to do is add a layer mask on the face layer and just drag with gradient tool

make sure the color in black and white and try adjust the gradient offset

But make sure you have selected none. Either press ctrl+shit+A or just right click and select then none.

How to resize for Instagram ?
it's not resizing, but create a new size for it. for post 1080 x 1080 px or 1080 x 1350 if you want make poster post size in instagram. for story 1920 x 1080 px
@@ZakeyDesign how i do that ? Sorry im just a beginner :D , i went on scale image , than size 1080x1080 , now i tried to upload it on instagram and you can only see the middle of the picture and not like your post on instagram :/
Zakey Design the picture is also very indented afterwards :( , on your instagram it looks perfect
okay, how to do that is: create new file and set the size to instagram post (1080 x 1350px) and go to file open as layer > choose the .xcf file you want for to make it as post then open. then just play with scale until it fit to the new canvas
