      It works as tested but in my case when one of the modems is not connected failover does not occur. In your example you disconnect the cable to the router. What happens if instead you disconnect the cable between the wall and the modem? Leave the cable between the modem and the router in.
      In my case I am having a problem where I have two internet connections. Load balancing works. But when one link goes down nothing works. If I unplug one link it works. But if they stay plugged in and the internet is not working the failover does not work.
      I have a protocol sticky because otherwise my bank website won’t let me log in.

      @@RCdiy So if you unplug one of the modems from your multi-wan router the failover works but if one of the WANs loses internet connection the failover doesn't work? It's not redirecting the traffic to the WAN with the working internet connection? I find that very odd, did you try tinkering with the settings?

      Thats what i wanted to know he should not remove the lan cable in real world it should be red light or los.

    • @rgd2576
      @rgd2576 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      He should remove the fiber cable not the lan cable for accurate result.

    • @FloofyTanker
      @FloofyTanker 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rgd2576 Yeah, removing the cable at the modem's end should make emulating losing an internet connection while being connected to 2 WANs more accurate because removing the LAN cable directly would just result in the multi-wan router thining that there isn't any cable attached so it just redirects traffic to where there is a cable attached.

    Does this really use load balancing so both of your connections will be used or does it use one connection and then the other is a "back up"?

    Cool video! I have a short question. What I have, is a completely setup edge router with multiple sub nets, firewall things, dhcp etc. Now I’d like to plug a second ISP and use the WAN balancing with failover capabilities. Question: is it recommended to use the wizard in this situation or will it end up in a mess? If not, is there a good tutorial how to setup WAN balancing manually?

    Thanks for finding time for this. Would you know, if the backup WAN connection is used even if the primary WAN is available and working? I ask because as a backup WAN i plan to use metered mobile connection. I do not want to use it if not necessary.

    I configured an edge router lite, followed the same procedure in the video using 2 ISP connection. After the configuration the LAN port was sending out internet connection. However, one of the ISP was down so, even with one of the ISP connected, LAN was still sending internet connection, however, the following day the internet connection was down and the LAN is no longer sending internet connection. Do I have to set DNS in the LAN configuration, or is it because one of the ISP connection is down to cost no internet connection?

    So you connected 2 modems to 1 Multi-WAN router, which one is the main DHCP server or assigns a dynamic IP? Is it the 2 modems? or is it the multi-wan router? I'm planning on 2 WANs and a Multi-wan router and a Switch, all the computers will be connected to the switch, so let's say I follow your steps and in your case since you assigned 192.168.100 as your routing prefix for your LAN port and I'm going to stick a switch on that end will the addresses on that switch be ranging from 192.168.100.0-255?
    I'm planning on setting up a multi-wan network in my home because of intermittent internet but I do not have any background in networking whatsoever other than reading through articles and watching youtube tutorials on the internet.
