The whole reason of why singapore get kicked out is because Singapore was advocating for Malaysian's Malaysia.
A country where all races are treated equally, regardless of religion or race.
While on the other hand, Malays would like to retain their special rights.
If you are malay, you get discount when you buy any houses.
If you are Malay, you get reserved spots in University over other race despite not having better result.
There are universities and scholarship designed just for Malays and other race cannot get in.
Any listed companies will need to sell 30% of their shares to Malay
Any government projects will first reserved for Malay company.
      Result:
      In 1960s 1 Malaysian Ringgit = 1.1 sing dollar
      2024 1 sing dollar = 3.7 Malaysian Ringgit
      In 1960s
Malaysia's airlines was one of the best airlines
2024 singapore airlines is the best airlines in the world
In 1991, Malaysia produces its first national car proton saga
2024 singapore has one of the world's best public transport while Proton is now partially owned by China.
In 1960s, university malaya was one of the top uni in Asia.
2024, National Univesity of Singapore IS the BEST uni in Asia and top 20 best uni in the world while Universiti Malaya struggles to get to top 100
This is the real difference between meritocracy vs race-based policy.
A country where the size is 300x times bigger with 6x more population but failed to thrive as a high income nation.

I'm Singaporean and bruh misinformation in this video. Singapore WANTED independence which is why they merged with Malaysia since malaysia was an independent, bigger country and nearby Singapore which helped Singapore to gain some independence at least. Eventually, Singapore was completely independent on 9th August 1965 due to Singaporeans' strong anger with Britain hence they forced Britain to step down from ruling Singapore. Lee Kuan Yew and the malaysian prime minister's ideologies were both different hence they disagreed with each other and got into a huge argument which caused Malaysia to kick out Singapore. But Singapore and Malaysia are still on neutral terms. Most of the chicken and water in Singapore are imported from malaysia.

LKY cried not because Singapore was kicked out of the federation. He cried because he had promised the Chinese population in Eastern Malaysia that together with the Chinese majority in Singapore they would make a strong coalition. And he campaigned hard for them to vote so that Sarawak and Sabah join the union. When Singapore was kicked out, the remaining Chinese coalition became weaker. He felt like he betrayed them. He explained this in one of his later interviews.

Singapore was one of British colonials main cities in Asia, it was not the poorest by any means in the 50s and 60s. If you compare Singapore now and then, yes they have progressed significantly. But among all colonised SEA countries at the the time, Singapore was NOT poorer than the rest of Malaysia. When it was part of the Malayan Union, Singapore was the main financial and economic hub for the English colonials, you want to get the latest trend from the west such as clothes and food, you want to experienced a few of the latest technological advancement at the time such as cinema, transportation and healthcare, you go to Singapore. I'm not saying all this was non existance in other parts of Malayan Union, but if you want to see the latest and newest, you go to Singapore. Before the separation they are prosperous enough to have the tallest building in SEA. I don't know where all this Singapore was so poor 😢 when they left Malaysia came from, but its far from the truth. Of course Singapore still have poor areas then, its the 50s & 60s after all and Malaysia just received independence from the Brtish, but its not the complete truth. Just watched videos of Singapore in the 50s and 60s. Singapore was already on its way developing, yes Singaporean worked hard to get to what they are today, but they were not a small fishing village even back then.

On 9 August 1965, Singapore separated from Malaysia to become an independent and sovereign state. I don’t know why so many quarrels about who is better. If Singapore is still with Malaysia, the majority Chinese will suffer. If Malaysia is efficient, Singapore will not do so well. If Malaysia was ran by LKY with its Malay majority, we can never tell if Malaysia will do well the current SG. Things happened for a reason and we should appreciate how things turned out and be sympathetic towards each other. Both countries have our pros and cons, and can leverage on each other to make our own lives better. Like I enjoy going to Malaysia for cheaper holidays and Malaysians are welcomed to work in SG for higher pay. Our fates are tied together. If Imagine if SG didn’t do well, where will average Malaysians find good jobs? Not easy to get into western countries in big numbers. There are more than a million M’sian working in SG. If Malaysia did very well, then SG would not have a chance to survive.

because Malaysia want to secure their malays race instead of foreign race (Chinese and Indian)and considering them as threats with *BUMIPUTERA* because Malaysia don't want their malays races become extinct or malays races become minority in their homeland
with Malays become first class society in there, and for Chinese and Indian become second class, and don't want Chinese race too powerfully in Malay especially in economy
And to become Malays race, you must become Islam/Muslim whatever your races.
Malaysia didnt recognize other races beside 3 them on your identity documentary in Malaysia.
Like from indonesia races in there, like javanese, batak, dayak, sunda, aceh, madura, etc.
Or from other countries races like Bangladesh, Pakistan, etc.
If you Muslim, you will be included as Malays in there, if not you will be include as Indian or Chinese depends where your homeland.
