I know you probably get lots of people giving advice but knowing that you fell out of the car made me think of something that my rheumatologist recommended to me, called a Car Cane it attaches to the latch on the door that you caught your feeding tube on and allows you to have something to lean on for stability getting in and out of the car I started using it a couple of years ago and it has prevented me falling more than once getting out of the car it is also discrete which was important to me at the time as I was in my late teens and didn't want people to see.
StoirmD Draodih I have one of those for my daughter who uses a wheelchair. It definitely is great. Small, easy and reduces falls when transferring. Great suggestion for her/ others!
You had a whole meal to take home but you can eat on it for 2-3 days lol. That's what I always do anyway. Jaquie I love how you take your health problems with such stride. I mean you had a lot more goin on with your health than I do and some days I am just ill as can be. My kids won't bother me. My husband won't bother me. Bless their hearts I hate it for em. Some times I just don't deal well at all. So your positive attitude and grace with it all are things I pray I will possess one day. You are a true inspiration!

Kentucky Ranger I had a bad health day. I lost my teaching job of 20 years 2 years ago and couldn't get another job this year. Cried all morning. Better today though.
I know what you're going through. After 20 years of driving a truck, I blew out my L5/S-1 and had to retire. 20 years, gone, just like that. That was 2006, and there are still days I cry about it, but it does get easier. I'm glad you're doing better.
Kentucky Ranger Thanks. I wish there were more safeguards in our society for people who work hard all their life and need a little help along the way. I have family in Denmark and when there is a job loss they can easily get some gov assistance. Since they paid into it they are able to get money out of it but it is for temporary setbacks. The difference in the money I’m making is what causes the most stress and I am not living beyond my means.

I started kate farms for breakfast daily and meal replacement when I'm to nauseas to eat because i saw how much it helped you and Oh My God! Don't worry Jackie, I understand. I live in Texas and it snowed for the first time in 8 years this winter. It also makes me flare , but I love cuddling up under the covers with my service dogs and that always makes me feel better
So glad AFOs are an option for you! As someone with foot drop due to neuromuscular issues, custom AFOs have been a great tool to battle against the effects of my chronic illness. Hope they will be for you too. Best of luck on your journey to getting them!
Definitely Florida people. I have 5 inches of snow with -5 as the warmest all week. My brother lives in South Carolina and they have 2 inches of snow. Of course now they are back up to 50 again.😂😭☃️❄️🌬⛄️
I had to change my 4 year old's G tube button today so she has a Captain America button pad on because she's super brave. :D We also get hospital pajamas. :D
Trekkifulshay My daughter has had terrible issues with button changing and we have to have it done under anesthesia. I hope some day we can change them at home, too!
Hopefully one day. My older kiddo has a GJ so it's lining up IR and Pedi sedation every time and sometimes a nurse will set up IR and be like why do you need sedation. I cannot imagine a GJ change with an awake kid.

You look so good in that jacket! Safety idea: what if you used some kind of a clip with a safety release mechanism to keep the excess feeding tube coiled up in your bag? That way when you fall it will let out some slack.
Not sure if this would help but a silicone Jar opener may help you open the kate farms. It's like a flat grabber that really helps me open things. I have grip issues. The green one from Crate and Barrel for like 5 dollars is my favorite.
I agree! I use a flat one that is small and about the size of a little potholder. I would like to try an actual jar opener tool that can be used for multiple sizes but the one I use is good for opening small bottles like for her Kate Farms nutrition. I, too, have grip issues.
I have one that looks like a slice of pizza, I have to use it for large jars but I often lose grip and throw it across the room in my attempt to open it. Hilarious and frustrating. the silicone pad seems to do the best for me but i also just use a butter knife to loosen the seal on jars it wont work on the kate farms.

I sometimes use a wide rubber band around the cap, tighten it up by tying it if I can or twisting a pen or something in it, then its easier to grip the cap and rubber band together to open the bottle.

I am 14 and I have been using custom AFO's since I was 8. I use to fall a lot too I have a power wheelchair but the AFO's help SOO much! I fall less and I feel more stable I am told to wear then 23 hours a day but I would wear them that often anyway to prevent from falling! I hope they help you too!

Hi Jacquie! I don’t normally comment, but since you said that sitting in the movie theatre chairs is so uncomfortable, is there not a wheelchair section in your theatre? At my local theaters they all have wheelchair sections with regular seating next to them so you can sit in your wheelchair next to your family.

The dust in the heating system was probably burning... We live in Canada, and we have that problem every year when we turn the heating system on. It's like... we need to open the windows at the same time as the heating system. Luckily its only for about an hour or two the first time we turn it on every year.
That's what happens to me too. I have to "think" for my feet to do what they are suppose to. If I don't concentrate.....i fall. Hope you get your braces soon Jacquie.
I was wondering the science behind your heat intolerance/joint pain? I have heat intolerance too and I get overheated very easily when it gets past 60° in Ohio, I wouldn’t do well in Florida heat, but 60° is a bit chilly there right? And it’s now 10° with snow, but you’re having joint pain when it’s 40-50°... it’s so weird to think how our bodies adapt to certain climates! I wonder if you’d be able to tolerate 40-50° easily if you lived up north (not a suggestion to move, just speculation)
I’m in Ohio too and the struggle is real! I don’t do well in the heat mostly because of my dysautonomia and then my fibromyalgia/CFS gets worse when it’s cold out, so I can’t win either way haha. You’re not alone!
You might know by now. But it’s open windows. While the heater burns off the dust. I had to use my heater 3 years ago and the smoke alarm was going off and I was getting light headed from the smell of the burning dust. I started panicking thinking I had a leak. Called they sent a tech. He checked it. She Relit the pilot and opened the windows.

Could your falls be happening more frequently with the hip injections? I know I was more off balance and prone to falling when I had my sacroiliac injections. Just a thought🤔

The first time that it was both pretty cold and snowing this winter, since I've sustained multiple injuries to my wrists, hip, knees, and ankles, they were killing me, too, so I can relate.
How does one get ketamine injections? I'm limited to three steroid shots per year and it is insufficient. The daily regimen of painkillers exacerbates my GP and I have ME, so these added difficulties leave me bedridden. I don't have any help with daily tasks, so my life has gone to hell. I need new treatments.
If movies are a struggle for you because of the seats, I don’t know if they have them in Florida but century theaters have these “luxury loungers” aka just big reclining, leather seats with very comfy cousins and if they do have century theaters in Florida you should definitely try them!👍
I totally understand sometimes it feels like my body just doesn't want to move in the right way like I have to think extra hard. And sometimes I think it sent the message so my brain tries to continue to the next action and messes up. Sometimes causeing me to fall, trip, run into walls (that's a common one of my issues its funny at times) I also tend to drop things and have never been coordinated enough for any type of sport where the ball is in the air. (I also have an fear of being hit by any type of flying sports related ball which means gym is a nightmare of flinching)

I realize this might be a slightly strange question, but when you have wrist pain from twisting stuff open is it on the pinky side or by your thumb? I get wrist pain too and I'm trying to figure out what's causing it. I'm going to go to the doctor but it's nice to have a basis of what it might be

Star Wars PJs are at Target. We have a Regal Cinema that has recliners. Makes going to the movies easier. We also have Movie Tavern. A place where you eat food and watch a movie. I sat in the back and was able to get up and move around without disturbing others.
Usually at the movie theater I just sit in my wheelchair in the accessible row! I don't know if yours has that, but my chair is so much more comfortable than most theater seats.

Jackie, im getting a mask to wear, because i dont need to breathe in the cold air, because of my lungs. Due to my RA i have pleurisy in my right lung and cold air is bad. And i also have to get Rowdys vest and my patches for his vest and i wanna get a custom plush of a doxie that has a vest so i can take it to the hospital when i cant take Rowdy.
Same here, theyre all slowly transitioning but at least 10 of em have recliners and basically all of em are reserved seating except the cheap theaters. I love the recliners and reserved seating, so comfy and nice that you dont have to fight for your seats

Hi Jacquie! I don’t normally comment, but since you said that sitting in the movie theatre chairs is so uncomfortable, is there not a wheelchair section in your theatre? At my local theaters they all have wheelchair sections with regular seating next to them so you can sit in your wheelchair next to your family.

The dust in the heating system was probably burning... We live in Canada, and we have that problem every year when we turn the heating system on. It's like... we need to open the windows at the same time as the heating system. Luckily its only for about an hour or two the first time we turn it on every year.
That's what happens to me too. I have to "think" for my feet to do what they are suppose to. If I don't concentrate.....i fall. Hope you get your braces soon Jacquie.
I was wondering the science behind your heat intolerance/joint pain? I have heat intolerance too and I get overheated very easily when it gets past 60° in Ohio, I wouldn’t do well in Florida heat, but 60° is a bit chilly there right? And it’s now 10° with snow, but you’re having joint pain when it’s 40-50°... it’s so weird to think how our bodies adapt to certain climates! I wonder if you’d be able to tolerate 40-50° easily if you lived up north (not a suggestion to move, just speculation)

I’m in Ohio too and the struggle is real! I don’t do well in the heat mostly because of my dysautonomia and then my fibromyalgia/CFS gets worse when it’s cold out, so I can’t win either way haha. You’re not alone!
You might know by now. But it’s open windows. While the heater burns off the dust. I had to use my heater 3 years ago and the smoke alarm was going off and I was getting light headed from the smell of the burning dust. I started panicking thinking I had a leak. Called they sent a tech. He checked it. She Relit the pilot and opened the windows.
Oh, Jaquie, I have a question about ur feeding tube. With the feeding tube bag (the one that you pour the formula into), do you ever wash it or get a new one, or is it just never washed, and non-replaceable?
I started laying on the floor doing a exercise and my dog started acting like yours. Going to my wanting to play. Does the theater by you have big red chairs that you can put your legs out? I went to watch coco and somehow my mom was crying for parts of the movie.
I'm sorry that you fall a lot it is been part of my life since I was born I do a lot of crawling which I'm getting older and it's getting hard on my legs why my knees but sometimes you got to do what you got to do right the food looks amazing the bath was Harlow or school and the shorts were made me smile I have not seen Coco yet but I know it's a tearjerker and I can't wait and I'm glad you didn't give any spoilers much love God bless your in my prayers as always I'll see you on the next one

The first time that it was both pretty cold and snowing this winter, since I've sustained multiple injuries to my wrists, hip, knees, and ankles, they were killing me, too, so I can relate.
How does one get ketamine injections? I'm limited to three steroid shots per year and it is insufficient. The daily regimen of painkillers exacerbates my GP and I have ME, so these added difficulties leave me bedridden. I don't have any help with daily tasks, so my life has gone to hell. I need new treatments.
Can I ask why you don't just use the "prime" button on your feeding pump? It primes the whole tube for you automatically.

If movies are a struggle for you because of the seats, I don’t know if they have them in Florida but century theaters have these “luxury loungers” aka just big reclining, leather seats with very comfy cousins and if they do have century theaters in Florida you should definitely try them!👍
I totally understand sometimes it feels like my body just doesn't want to move in the right way like I have to think extra hard. And sometimes I think it sent the message so my brain tries to continue to the next action and messes up. Sometimes causeing me to fall, trip, run into walls (that's a common one of my issues its funny at times) I also tend to drop things and have never been coordinated enough for any type of sport where the ball is in the air. (I also have an fear of being hit by any type of flying sports related ball which means gym is a nightmare of flinching)
Jaquie, what is the condition called that makes you fall? I feel like I have that, I've had some falls lately and sometimes sway a little like my balance is really off. I just would love to have an answer for this. Love you guy's!!
I realize this might be a slightly strange question, but when you have wrist pain from twisting stuff open is it on the pinky side or by your thumb? I get wrist pain too and I'm trying to figure out what's causing it. I'm going to go to the doctor but it's nice to have a basis of what it might be

Star Wars PJs are at Target. We have a Regal Cinema that has recliners. Makes going to the movies easier. We also have Movie Tavern. A place where you eat food and watch a movie. I sat in the back and was able to get up and move around without disturbing others.
Usually at the movie theater I just sit in my wheelchair in the accessible row! I don't know if yours has that, but my chair is so much more comfortable than most theater seats.

Jackie, im getting a mask to wear, because i dont need to breathe in the cold air, because of my lungs. Due to my RA i have pleurisy in my right lung and cold air is bad. And i also have to get Rowdys vest and my patches for his vest and i wanna get a custom plush of a doxie that has a vest so i can take it to the hospital when i cant take Rowdy.

Same here, theyre all slowly transitioning but at least 10 of em have recliners and basically all of em are reserved seating except the cheap theaters. I love the recliners and reserved seating, so comfy and nice that you dont have to fight for your seats

omg i do the same thing when opening caps I literally feel my joints coming out yikes i hope theres new technology or something that would help with that . My car door handles are literally made for people with joint issues so hopefully more stuff like that become more common
