Joe rogan talks with royce gracie and explains why he was the man to change mma forever. #martialarts #mixedmartialarts #mma #ufc #joerogan #jre #roycegracie #shorts
Only dude in the world that doesn't piss me off or make me think hes deluded when he says such a big thing lol. Royce is beyond legendary. Bjj came around the world like a storm because of Gracie Jiujitsu.
Eh, they miss out the part where olympic calibre wrestlers were not invited as it would be a big risk to the BJJ scene. Which is what the first UFC's was structured around, advertising BJJ
After one of his fights when he was interviewed, he said he didn't do it fot the money, he did it for the honor and the family. I became a fan when i heard him say that. Very honorable man! Not boasting just telling the truth.
Gracies only invited strikers at the beginning . Then pulled out when the competition became too much. But they accomplished their goal. Even though it's not the most ideal Martial Art they made a name.
@@zombieinkslinger1Depends upon the fight. In an Octagon it used to be BJJ, but strikers learned take down defense and grappling alone is too weak against Muy Tai/Kick Boxing. On the street, BJJ is super dangerous. Zero effectiveness against multiple attackers, which has been every fight I’ve ever been in. Super dangerous to be rolling in the ground in a night club/bar, or on a sidewalk or in a street. Which are all the places my fights have been. You want great striking, matched with good leverages and throws, and good take down defense. You’ll see this in real Japanese Jiu Jitsu blended with Karate or Kenpo, Kung Fu San Soo, and a few others. It really comes down to who your teacher is, and how smart you are personally. If your teacher doesn’t know how to translate his art to the street and your dumb as a box of rocks and can’t apply the techniques to the street, I don’t care what art you train in.
@@pumacaineyeah but also a grappling sport if you dont like whenever it goes to the Ground and ONLY Watch for the striking wars then i Can tell you that wonderboy has some great title fights in kickboxing and rodtang is an awesome muay thai fighter to Watch.
People tuned in for real fights compared to WWF. The smaller guy in the bath robe winning was odd to see, no doubt. As soon as submissions were understood, weight classes came in and we all wanted knockouts, not pajama wrestling.
Huh? The reason the UFC became so exciting was Forrest Griffin vs Stephan Bonnar, Royce introduced BJJ to the world but then Ken Shamrock used it against him 18 months after their fight. Royce deserves his flowers for showing the superior martial art but he did little to nothing for the excitement factor.
@materoid because everyone has those days where they can only throw flaccid punches and both parties have erectile punch syndrome then you jave to hug it out mid fight its just the rules man
