1982 Studebaker Avanti II

The ClassicCars TV feature for today is a 1982 Avanti II. After the 1964 Avanti ended production at the end of 1963, two Studebaker dealerships took it upon themselves to purchase the tooling to continue producing the vehicle. Christened Avanti II and now powered by a Chevrolet small-block, the vehicle was produced through 2006, staying true to form until the 1980s when tweaks brought some modernity to the styling. This particular example, built before those changes, sold for $11,000 at the 2023 Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach auction.

I thank you for this! You really know your Avanti's I didn't know the story of the Avanti 2. It's like the Devil has been trying to kill this gem ever since 1962. I'm sure glad that somebody's always been there to keep it alive. It's seems like it's almost a "GM" now! Cool! Let's see what happens to it when ELECTRIC ONLY cars invade us. Don't give up Avanti!

That car has a very clean interior. Most of the time those late Altman era car interiors are pretty ragged out. The steelies belong on a primered small block Nova, not an Avanti.

Why make so much out of the original and the successor. They are ALL Avanti's. All car design alteres, why would this brand be ANY different? I wish you'd stand still. Your arms, legs, hands all going different directions.
