    I am trying to make Santa hats for a 4 year old, 5 year old, 10 year old and a 11 year old not sure what size of loom to use, would I use the 36 pegs, and was also wondering if I could use the same Santa Hat pattern or do I have to change somethings? If I do have to change some stuff can you please tell me what I need to change. Please respond right away

      Hi Tami - the average 10 or 11 year old will fit this hat without any need to adjust the pattern. The hat is pretty fitted. I haven’t tested this pattern on a 36 peg so I can’t really tell you how to adjust the pattern. I can suggest reducing each section by 3-5 rows depending on the child. Hope that helps some.

      @@LoomaHat ok Thank you. I will try the 36 pegs and see how it goes. I will let you know if it worked or not.

    • @LoomaHat

      Tami - I would start with the 41 peg loom version first

    • @tpuglas1474
      @tpuglas1474 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@LoomaHat I already made a few with the 41 pegs. Ok I have my nephews over and one is 11 years old and the other one is 8 years and I got them to try the hats on and they fit perfect. Just not sure for a 4 year old and a 5 year old. Should I use the 36 peg loom for the 4 and 5 year old

      Tami- so it sounds crazy but I read many years ago that according to The American Academy of Pediatrics the size of the head of a 5 year old is about the same as ours. People worry about the extra large loom - but really its about the stitch pattern: watch this video th-cam.com/video/92k2F7Z9x_w/w-d-xo.html

    I come back to this every year. Last year, I started using 2 strands for the brim and it looks really nice. I made one with thicker white yarn on the brim and it looked good, too. You rock!

    I look forward to making this Santa hat as soon as possible. We are having holiday dress up days at work and this will be great. I'm a nurse and our patients at the cancer center will love this :) I am new to loom knitting. Have made a few projects over a few weeks. After watching some videos on You Tube I realized how much I prefer your videos. Now I exclusively look for your videos for my projects. I have subscribed - of course. Thank you, Denise, I really enjoy your instruction! You have helped me so much!!

      Hi again Denise. I finished the Santa hat! I used Red Heart "With Love" Metallic yarns (Red #8918 and White #8010). This made it festive for the holidays.
      I'm knitting projects with a foot of snow outside. I can't imagine that you knit so much in Florida!!
      Thanks again, Denise!

    I love the music you have in the background! You speak very clear and slow enough for me to try this. I do not knit, crochet, or sew but, your directions are such that I can easily understand exactly what to do. I have never heard of any of these stitched before but, your explanation and demonstration were fantastic. Thank you so much for providing a wonderful and easy tutorial for people like me. I am one of those people who who make music with my hands but, I have never made clothing except in jr and high school when we were forced to do it. That takes all the fun out it. Now, all I need is the yarn, the loom and needle and that other tool you had in your hand. I do not know the name of it. Ah! I need a Knifty Knitter.

    Rat! I didn’t know why my green loom 36 makes as toddler hat! I always use green loom for a good size of child or small adult head size but now this pattern changes my eyes when I made this hat. Does 48 purple pegs will make it different? I wonder. What different between yellow 41 pegs and purple 48? I know it’s gauge size but does it make any different? Just wondering. I always make other hats from other subscribers and it fits very well. I wonder why this one does because of the way it made half to stitch up causes like that?

    What weight yarn are you using. I have some weight bulky #6 Is this to bulky for this hat and I counted your loom and you are making this on a 41 peg loom. I have a small head and might have to use the 36 peg for me.

    • @LoomaHat
      @LoomaHat  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Carol - this one is from last year so I don’t remember 100% but see the link for a supply list. If I used worsted # 4 don’t use bulky and don’t use the 36 it will make the hat too tight. It is stretchy and will fit you correctly. I rarely use the 36 for adults.

      Hi Catherine - if you change anything one the pattern- the loom, the yarn, the stitch pattern then I am limited on answers. I haven’t tested this pattern on the 88 peg loom and I don’t think I used the garter stitch.

    Hi! I love your Website! I’ve made the Santa Hat, but I’m not sure if I doing something wrong. I started on and it was really small so I ripped it out and started again. The 2nd one came out great but it’s small also. Does this pattern just run small? I’m starting a new one on the biggest loom I have. Hope I can get it done for Christmas 🎄🌲🎄🌲🎅🏻 Thanks so much! I really enjoy this site.

      Hi Cindy- yes this one is a bit smaller. It’s 20 inches in diameter instead of the usual 22. If you need it to be larger use chunky yarn and the eWrap knit stitch throughout the pattern.

      Hi Ricki it can be done on any peg count but you have to adjust the row count.

    question, I usually use the 36 peg for female, why the 41 peg? and approximately how long is the finished piece?

    • @LoomaHat
      @LoomaHat  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the hat is 20 inches in diameter and 14 inches in length. I don't recommend the 36-peg. It will only fit a child.

    I am making the Santa hats and just wondering for the hat part it says to do 1 row of Uwrap and 1 row of Ewrap for a total of 16 rows. Is that 16 rows of Uwrap and 16 rows of Ewrap, or 8 rows of each. Can you please answer me right away.

    • @LoomaHat
      @LoomaHat  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Tami - I haven't worked this pattern in a while - but when I say the total number - I mean both combined - so yep, 8 of each. Be sure to maintain the order so first 1 Uwrap then 1 eWrap until you have the total number of rows - in this case 16. And congrats on your early start - I'm jealous

      @@LoomaHat Thank you for responding right away. I made three hats already but I did 16 rows of Uwrap and 16 rows of Ewrap. Also just wondering if you had any videos on how to make Santa hats for baby's, toddlers, and teenagers and if you knew how to put words on the projects. Example if I made a Christmas Stocking I would like to put a name on it

      Thanks for asking Tami - this hat does fit a teenager - in fact the average 5 year old has a very similar head size to the average adult - I plan to do a baby Santa hat - just need to test more options .... stay tuned

    Denise love your videos but it doesnt say anywhere in supplies how much yarn you need to make this hat. Help us out and put that please. I watch all your videos. Need the gauge of yarn and how much like how many skeins of each color and weight. Ir you could put the camera on thre labels which doesnt take so much of your time. Just a suggestion to you.
