Honestly Leia and Destiny are the only beacons of light in this show. If a show can't make you sympathize or root for the MAIN CHARACTER, that's a major fucking problem! Also, I feel SO bad for Troye Sivan! He's such a teddy bear, he didn't deserve that 😢!
The point of the show is for you NOT to root for the main character lol do you even know what you're watching? Clearly the entertainment industry is full of vultures and horrible people as depicted in the show INCLUDING Jocelyn and it couldn't even be any more true if compared to IRL. This episode has shown the true nature of most of the characters - Jocelyn and Tedros's relationship, Jocelyn and Zander's relationship dynamic, Tedros's background and his cult, etc. The fact that Zander had to say he was lying about what he told Jocelyn was so that Tedros stops shocking him - meaning Zander meant every word he threw at Jocelyn. I believe that Jocelyn is completely aware about everything that is happening around her and she's not doing anything about it for some motive we may get to see in the finale, so I believe that she's not complete helpless as she says she is (I believe Zander saying she manipulates and control people kind of send shivers down my spine cause I remember the opening scene in Episode 1 how she can change emotions on the spot). We see Jocelyn hitting Tedros in one scene when she was recording, she knows about Tedros's background with his ex-partner and the violent history, the party where she invites he ex-boyfriend, she locked Tedros out and had sex with her ex-boyfriend in the room, etc. So, NO, this show does not make you root for the main character and that's the whole point of the show.
I don't mean any hate towards your comment btw but just to add, Zander is the creative director for Jocelyn so it makes sense if he leaked her photo with the cum on her face in Episode 1. The sex scenes make sense in a way 'cause people think that Tedros is making her do those disgusting things but people are blindsided by that cause of Abel's character and/or acting (idk) though it really shows how much Jocelyn was involved and how she really isn't a victim. In my opinion, that little speech Nikki had about mental illness makes sense too 'cause in Episode 2 she disassociates with herself and calls out to her mom even when she knows her mom's already dead. Episode 3 reveals the abuse that Jocelyn's mom did to her and still wants to do it - so she may be mentally sick or something. Episode 4, she becomes more aggresive towards Tedros and other people. The show depicts the toxicity of the industry that comes with the price of stardom and how much lengths people are willing to go just for it. Tedros wants power and control so he has a cult that just complies whatever the circumstances 'cause as far as I know, they all have a background involving drugs or having a shitty past so for them to interfere means they either die or Tedros leaves them to fend off for themselves (which you can see in Chloe and Izaak's faces when Zander was being shocked). On that scene where Izaak takes off the collar off of Zander, he said that Tedros believes him linking to Episode 3 when Tedros tells Jocelyn that he doesn't keep secret within his cult. When you're power hungry, you want to know everything you need to know about your target to keep them on the edge of their toes and so you have something to exploit when they betray you. Same thing with Jocelyn - she wants power and her popularity to boost up sky high, so she gets on with Tedros unaware of the relationship he has with Dyanne. Dyanne, on the other hand, is the complete opposite of Jocelyn. Dyanne is the embodiment of people who want a shot in the entertainment industry, she initiated the setup with Tedros and Jocelyn but even so, her morals are still intact. But I'm still not sure about her character though 'cause there's a lot of things missing but you probably get the point.
the xander scene was literally sick. something about seeing people’s bodily autonomy be violated triggers me so much. thank you for censoring those scenes I don’t think I could have stomached it otherwise
If this were any other show, the premise of Jocelyn secretly being the puppet master this whole time would be such a brilliant plot! But I just can’t get over the fact that this was promoted as a story about a woman being taken advantage of in the music industry, and what message does it send if it turns out that that woman has actually been the one manipulating everything from the start? Especially with Sam Levinson and Abel “too much female perspective” Tesfaye as the writers?
But also it feels like out of character to make her the puppy Master because i didn't see any clue of this maybe a little with the opening scene in the photoshoot but also we have no clue about her motive to prey on tedros except the fact she loves torture and abuse idk honestly 😮
In my opinion Jocelyn is aware of the situation and she likes it, as you said. But if that's the plot, writers should have left it for the last episode cuz now it won't be a plot twist anymore, because fhey literally showed us that lol.
Also fuck her for what she did to Xander, i think he was telling the truth, and she is just a psychopath because of her childhood and what her mother taught hed
Even if Jocelyn turns out to be the villainous mastermind in the end, it does not really feel like a plottwist, because as far as we are concerned her entire personality is a trauma. It's not like she went from good to bad. And it is not like the chemistry between the leads build any intriguing character dynamic that could swift.
I watched a video where two guys reacted to the first episode of this show and they took shots every time something sexual or uncomfortable happened. I was convinced they were going to have alcohol poisoning by the end of the video.
Did you notice when Troye Sivan was getting shocked.. and he shouted out something about Jocelyn controlling and manipulating everyone and everything and now she’s controlling HIM and they do a close up on tedros face.. he looks scared. If you look at his eyes.. it’s like he’s realising “shit”
Episode 4 is the Best one so far in my opinion. Maybe because they showed that there are more things about Jocelyn than just a blindside victim. Also more spotlights for Destiny, Chloe, Xavier,…. The Weekend finally show a little bit of emotion here. Hope there will be something big in the last episode. Like Jocelyn’s used and controlled Tedros all the time, she’d already known what him was into but pretended to like, play with it, teasing him like a puppet. I guess because she wanted to take those talented brainwashed people ( Chloe, Issac,…) to her team and built her own music kingdom 😂😂😂
If they’re trying to make Jocelyn the villain, they’re doing a terrible job because they didn’t even try to ease her character in that role, it just kind of happened 😑
In the series trailer Joss called the audience, "Hello Angels" on her concert which Tedros called her from the start. I'd be surprised if Joss would be their cult leader than Tedros
'I need his mouth to be sewn together' I second that, it can be unsewn for singing and that's it. The music in this episode kinda slapped. The 'Jealous Guy' John Lennon cover is so beautiful. Jocelyn's lyrics on the new song are a bit yucky bc of the context, but the finished song on the soundtrack OOOOOH I been listening to it all week.

i feel that Joss is the villain here. My mind is telling me she found someone who is her inspiration (and she has the artists from Tedros). Like you said we've seen how Tedros is using her but also from her POV she might be using him and let him to do whatever he wants just for fun (i don't like this kind of fun...) in this ep and in the preview of 5th episode you can see that she doesn't give a f with Tedros and do stuff on her own. so maybe it would be a sick plot twist like if you more thinking about it, it makes sense... Tedros can't be the villain it would so obvious, Dyanne? i don't think so she's soft... idk who else could it be
I had no idea that Tedros was played by The Weekend {not a huge fan}I was wondering who is this "unknown' actor that is really good at playing a creep. So for me i was able to watch Able play a complete creep . LRD acting i feel could have been better but I guess the writers SL and Able completly ruined this show. I will never get that time back
wait until you find out that The Weekend and Sam Levinson actually fired the original director and scratch her whole concept of portraying the story of a exploited woman who is trying to reclaim her voice in a sexist industry but now we have The Weekend and Sam Levinson's version smh
So in this show focused on adults, Sam Levinson still managed to sneak in a naked, underage character. No one was surprised by this.
Ofcourse he did,hes a sick mothafakkkaaa!!!!

Right - it's almost the twisted fantasy of these guys to absolve them of any responsibility for all of the assault. Predictable.
That's exactly what I was thinking. The Weeknd went on about this story being a warning for young artists and then throws that out of the window
