It is concerning to hear about unethical business practices. However, it is a reality that we must be aware of. There are certain considerations that you should pay attention to. For instance, the duration of your mortgage should be carefully considered. It is not ideal for individuals to continue paying a mortgage in their 70s or 80s, especially due to income restrictions and reduced work capacity. Financial planning, in conjunction with age planning, is of utmost importance.
There is a lot of details missing from this story. Since no one picked up the property, the bank should be willing to give the property back to her under her original mortgage.
So she did a loan modification at age of 75? Why in debt at that age? Can she sell the mansion and use the equity for a smaller house? Says she put everything into the house, there should be a lot of equity then. Beautiful place but time to move to something affordable.
It’s didn’t sound like she couldn’t afford it - in how the presented it. I’m thinking she wanted to borrow some of the equity she put into the house. But the bank is doing a lowdown dirty thing in reneging on the Agreement. And now want to just take her house - w/o giving her anything.
@@ecaldwell9 I don't believe the younger woman saying the bank just 'told her' one thing and did another. All the documentation would be clearly be written out. Still bizarre to be 75 and taking out an equity loan for repairs. Why did she need such a huge home? If she had family living with her why didn't they pitch in and help with the mortgage? She's not telling the whole story and we aren't hearing the bank's side.
It's not a mansion it's just a large house . She has some paperwork she may not understand it . I think she's relying on the verbal conversation they had with her about it. It's definitely time to down size.
Why didn't you sell the house when the market was hot? You don't need a huge house. You could have bought a home you could afford. Pride goeth before distruction.

@ she modified the loan in 2012 at 73 years of age. It’s obvious she was post retirement age. Why would an underwriter approve an ARM for someone on a fixed income. This is a clear violation of the 2008 Dod Frank Act. It’s an underwriting requirement.
We know it’s an ARM because her rates keep changing which is impossible to keep up with if you’re on a fixed income.
@@lisabrightlywith a reverse mortgage they family dont get house, the mortgage company does. They pretty much buy your home from you.
Where is her family?
I was thinking the same thing🤔 six bedrooms four baths, and God knows how many kitchens I’m wondering who keeping the house and floors and furniture clean cause it ain’t dusty at all👊🏽! She may be scared of strangers, but she could get some income coming in and rent the rooms out to other senior citizens! Her not so intelligence it seems lawyers😏should be trying to help her out with getting some type of income😏🤔 in the meantime🫡❤️🫵🏽
Loan Modifications are not safe at all, do your best not to do it. I know about 2 ppl one of which lost her home the same way and the other almost lost her home to the samething.
What a beautiful home😢
Hope she remains in her home she built. Lord protect her.🙏🤲
My God😡Lord please intervene and if anyone is being vindictive in line, show that too
Somebody may have done something shady to get her out that house
Why was she still paying a mortgage?? She got the house years ago.
Unless you can afford a shorter term it does usually take 30yrs to pay off mortgage...
I pray that God makes a way for this woman. None of this was her fault! That’s why I’m very skeptical about purchasing a home right now.
This is happening a lot.
2002-How much does she owe? How much is she in the behind?
I believe the lawyer said they foreclosed for $600k and purchased it from themselves for $600k
@@sibun7153she can go right behind them and do the same thing we operating with trust based cash, work the system like they try to work you
That's horrible. I hope everything works out in her favor.
This report was stupid because it didn’t reveal who did this to her.
Look, I don't want to leave the store without my receipt. I darn sure don't get any loans without every scrap of numbered paper. What bank or organization did she do this through?
In the mean time Granny needs to start renting rooms out as a boarding house🤔
I said the same thing!!!! when they show the pictures of her grandchildren she still has family. Why aren’t they pitching in to save the home? Also, is she at home by herself with six bedrooms and four bathrooms that house looks spic and span somebody keeping that house clean. . . And like you said she can get an income coming in and if she scared of the people just get elderly people her age so she knows that they have a steady income. Her lawyers seem a little illiterate because she has a lot of opportunity as you stated. 🫵🏽 BOARDING HOUSE!!
Nobody including the Attorney’s seems to know what they’re talking about! This is a mess and people take advantage, because they know culturally we don’t have a conscience; when it comes to estate planning
This is heartbreaking.😢
This is absolutely ridiculous why is this same type of stories keep continuing to happen with Black people and people of color in Houston? Texas overall is the main concern at hand
because Houston is very corrupt. I been saying it even their own city employees are corrupt
Because you refuse to look at what's happening to everyone else and just focus on your black people
She got something she couldn't afford move on Grandma there's homeless shelters down the road from you get to packing.
Obviously she could afford it. She’s been their since 2002
This is happening all over the country!!! It is a scam to take black elderly people's homes. Usually, the homes are paid off.
@@youwish378 You sound jealous of Black wealth. This lady was a professional woman, and somehow some tricky stuff happened during the loan modification.
If she was house rich, but cash poor, a reverse mortgage could have been considered.
Disgusting. They schemed Ms.Jefferson. What a disgrace. Who holds the mortgage, which bank?
I hate this happened to her. A lawyer was supposed to be providing me with/ loan modification. He pocketed his fee did nothing. Foreclosure proceedings took place. He was crooked and i was a victim of sub prime lending anyway.
Beautiful home!!
Yes, it is not a piece of dust around. Makes you wonder who is keeping it clean six bedrooms for baths! That house don’t even look lived in. She need to start getting some income coming in and RENTING the rooms out to senior citizens her age (it may sound scary, but ain’t that what them shabby lawyers are for )She may
love the company!!😂
@yamsgoodies6610 I prey she gets to keep it. She owned a clinic! What was she doing with all the money 💰 she was making? I'm guessing she must have made a few million over the years
@ the whole story ain’t being told!! And the lawyer sound like they are a couple of cans short of a six pack😏
@yamsgoodies6610 I noticed that as well!! I don't know her finances, but people who own clinics usually do very well!! She needs to get better representation as well. Not many people can afford homes that are 1 million my guess is she helped out alot of people on the way because of her success
@@AntJohn-o9w All these years charging Medicare and Medicaid 😢and other health insurance she should already have paid for the house in full.
Not good for putting anyone out of their homes
This is sad she has a beautiful home. I agree with the comments below how can this be legitimate if it’s not in writing. There’s always vultures flying overhead very sad she’s come this far in life and may lose her home.
how dare this woman own such a beautiful estate. whomever her attorney is WACK!
In order to be in foreclosure she would’ve had to stop paying the mortgage in full. Unfortunately people get loan modifications and don’t read and except low paid employees to tell them everything. She should’ve sold the home a long time ago and downgraded, why stay in that big ass house for 1 person
Yeah that’s a high house for 1, and she’s 85. Wonder does she have family?
Pride comes before the fall. When she couldn’t pay the mortgage she should’ve sold and ran with the equity.
🫵🏽You have the best comment and you read my mind👊🏽👊🏽 six bedrooms, four bathrooms and God knows how many kitchens thathouse does not have a piece of DUST!!😂she sure got a lot of good looking grandkids who look like they graduated with some sense 😂so where are they and who’s keeping that house clean and why don’t you rent them rooms out to other senior citizens Who are not a threat and get some income🤔 The whole story ain’t being told here😏❤️🫶🏽
That's what I'm sayin you talkin right!!! Sound like case of you livin well over your means. Oh well in other news.
That’s who they TAKE ADVANTAGE OF OUR SENIORS. Shame on em ALL
That entire transaction should have been deemed null and void, with nothing in writing However I'm sure there's more to the story...
She was taken advantage of.
How can you verbally agree to the many terms of a modification?
Never borrow against your house😢
What judge is allowing this verbal agreement.
This should be illegal. A modification to any type of loan should always be in writing. Also, why didn't they cut her a check for the $400,000 equity she has in her home?? I hope this unfortunate situation works out in her favor.
Talk about bad journalism 🤦🤦🤦. This story doesn't add up and makes no sense at all. This lady was smart enough to open her own medical practice but not smart enough to get a home loan in writing??? There are SOOOOO MANY missing pieces of this story, makes me wonder who is scamming who in this situation.
this the same thing of nonsense they tried to do to 93 year old black woman josephine wright
SOMEONE NEEDS TO START A GO FUND ME PAGE FOR THIS POOR HELPLESS SENIOR LADY!!!!
Nah, no one is going to help her. Womp womp.
@@lucilledavis8161 it’s not a point of somebody helping her it’s a matter of her dingbat lawyers trying to come up with the way to increase her income by renting out them six rooms and four bathrooms. Hell she got a lot of money in that house. She’s just not using her brain or nobody else around her. That house is spic and span. Somebody’s keeping it clean and I MEAN CLEAN 🧽 🧼 💯😂
Life can be a joke.
You're overly wordy.
I never want to own a home, they always after it. Taxes, scams, you never really own it. Taxes, insurance.
How is this legal, smh? we need a law against defrauding the elderly. No matter what the circumstances.
There is a lot of details missing from this story. Since no one picked up the property, the bank should be willing to give the property back to her under her original mortgage.
there should never be such thing as verbal contract agreement that is not written
Help this lady.
You help her
No one is going to help her. This was well deserved. Get mental help and go back to mommy, Karen!
Where is her $400k in equity 🤬The bank is STEALING from this elderly woman. NAME THE BANK 🏦 🤬🤬
Unjust & sad. Help her Lord Jesus.
YOU MEAN TO TELL ME THERE'S NO ONE TO PAY MORTGAGE AND TAKE POSSESSION OF THE PROPERTY WHEN THE LADY PASSES AWAY?
Her house.
Sue the city and state.
Her children should be helping her.
Her home is beautiful 😳😳👀👀 No wonder why her home is in foreclosure. THEY WANT HER HOME📢📢📢📢😳😳😳
One obvious reason is she is Racially classified as black!
@@lessconfused5179
Have you not seen all the elderly white women living in their vehicles you're kidding right !
I hope she keeps her home.
Isn’t that predatory lending?
This is fucked up the bank needs to be held accountable
Why didn't you sell the house when the market was hot? You don't need a huge house. You could have bought a home you could afford. Pride goeth before distruction.
Because the older you get, the more stubborn you are. She says she has nowhere to go but has children that are college graduates whom I am sure make great income. She’s too proud to ask for help.
