wifes mums 1987 corolla is still running. she bought it new. no rust and never had anything replaced except ofc normal servicing.. still on the original clutch aswell.
The best ranked VW only managed a position 35 out of 63. More shockingly was the Mk3 Golf, which was a fairly new design ranked at 52 with owners complaining, unsurprisingly about the poor performance of the 4-cylinder versions.
@@justas525 I suspect the Golf ranked so low because the engines were too weak and power steering wasn't standard on all models. The Mk3 GTI 2.0 8 valve was more of a sheep in wolf's clothing as it was slower than a similar era Corolla 1.6 16v. As for the Passat, the complaints were mostly related to the performance of the 8 valve engines.
The results from these surveys were always a bit skewed as it's based upon satisfaction and perception. People buying a VW or BMW are likely to have a different set of standards than those buying a Proton, or Skoda Favorit. It's not a pure reliability or performance survey. It was interesting though, these surveys had some clout in the 90s.
I owned a j reg MK2, a mk3 polo (well it was a 1996 slightly newer shape) and a newer 1998 mk3 (was one of the last 250 ever made in april-may 1998 so it was a hybrid of mk3/Mk4 parts) and I have to say I loved them all, I thought they were brilliantly well built but my god did they rust.
LOL Yeah had a great time with the Banjo Tooie & Kazooie games. Somehow the end song prevented the video being available in some countries so I replaced it with umm.. Well yeah a soundtrack from Banjo Tooie haha!

Is that a tannoy name😂. Agree totally with the car
This is likely from April 1994 as the JD Power Survey was published around that time in this country! 👌
Ah yeah, that makes sense!

The Passat did better 42. I'm surprised by that. Because I own 91 Passat and it's brilliant in every way.

@@CynicalBastard511 mine Passat has the same engine as mk3 Golf GTI, I don't see reason for complaining I'm satisfied with it's performance

2:20 Well done Quentin. Youve taken all the fun out of it. I was hoping to see that Maestro in negative figures !
The Rover Maestro got 78 points. That's higher than the Audi 80, Citroen BX, Pug 205, Volvo 400 series & Ford Fiesta all got.
The fact the mini wasn't in top 10 unbelievable
@@martythemk3fiesta59 Yeah, thats strange
