Have one of these and I love it. Recommend anyone purchashing a snugpak for the first time taking it out in their back yard and practice with it a few time so you get used to the system. Once you have it down it only takes a couple of minutes to get the fly up. One trick, take some orange (or whatever other color you like) and mark one corner of the inner tent and outer fly (on the inside) save a couple of minutes lining it up during set up.
I have used an old Eureka tent, similar to their El Capitan 2, for 10 years or more. It has a frame attached to the tent with a fly to cover. The problem is setting up everything in the rain. The advantage I see with the Snugpak is that you can shelter your gear on the grass without dragging water and mud into the living area right away. Thanks for a great review.
I have this exact tent. The only thing it doesn't have is a vestibule, but I fixed that by getting a small tarp and started using that. This tent is amazing and strong. No problems.
The "stand alone" tent is becoming a fave of mine, for sure. Very versatile. Can even set it up in the street if necessary. But the price is often so high.
Thanks for a peek at the snugpack tent. I would also add that its a geodesic design that is stable and self-supporting. So you can just unpeg it and quickly move it to another spot if the need arises. Thanks again.
Several years ago, I owned a North-face "Sierra" A Frame Expedition Tent. It was a beautiful Tent which North-face no longer manufactures. I understand the next highet grade was a tent used by Sir Edmund Hillary. It was identical to the Sierra except that it had an opening in the floor in which to have a stove. I purchased the Snugpack Pack Bunker recently. I wanted a small four season tent and look forward to using it. I think I will be happy with the Snugpack but honestly, the Sierra North-Face was a beautiful tent. No exaggeration, I've set that tent up easily on evenings under dark sky when there was a new moon - a bare minimum of lighting. I think I could have set that tent up blindfolded! And it looked beautiful as well!
Another great tent review I bought the snugpak scorpian 2 about 3 weeks ago because of your review on it and I love it. Thanks so much for these videos
Hey Ben! I watched this vid last night.. and i thought about it all day. What a great tent! Let it rain, let it snow.. I'd feel safe and good to go! i really like the extra room.. but, the main thing is that i would feel safe pitching this one on the side of a mountain when the weathers coming! great job.. keep the vids coming! i really like the idea that if ya' wanna' go ultra you can just bring the fly.. looks like a very strong tent.
The smaller the tent the warmer but in really cold a good sleeping bag with liner and down pad or wool blanket will keep you warm. In this one I am going to try a little UCO candle lantern and see if it warms it any.
Sorry for the late reply but the Bunker is full proof. I was out in the NH outdoors through rain and warm weather. so far held up like a champ with virtually no condensation and excellent airflow. Def a great buy and recommend it
this thing is super badass. the only thing im worried about is in extremely cold and windy situations. it looks like this tent would just let all kinds of air funnel in from under the fly. can you make any comments on that?
+Living Survival i was thinking the same thing.. it looks a little drafty?.. thanks for responding to extorter. my question was answered.. looks like a good tent!
Awesome video! Considering this tent, after my last tent from Nordisk (Oppland 3) decided to leak the first time it saw rain.... From what I see the Snugpak tents seem much sturdier built. I have one question which isnt super clear from the video. Can you unzip the opaque material from the front door of the inner tent, to make it fully mesh? Mostly asking this because that Nordisk tent had subpar ventilation, and in hotter climates I would have appreciated a bit more ventilation at times. If this tent doesnt have any mesh on the door its probably too closed off for the hot climates. Also, after all these years (8!!), how are you liking the tent after (I assume) a lot of use?
Very nice quality tent. Reminds me of my camo, goretex 3 man tent I bought from Early Winters. MANY similarities but since it was goretex no rain fly. They no longer make the EW tent. This one looks excellent but I bet it is only a 3 season tent with all of that mesh. Would be great in a rainy environment. Nice presentation.
I have the Scorpion 2 and like it, for the most part. The only draw back for me is the fact that I am 6'2". Wish they would be a lil longer to where my feet are not pressed up against the end. Other than that, LOVE it.
Man i really enjoy your videos i have made some improvements to my EDC and bug out bag also have developed a bug out emergency bag just for the car, please keep up the good work.
If outside temp is say 20F what temp can it get inside the tent with one person? I'm just trying to get an idea how cold or descent it would be with winter temps...
That looks like an exceptional foul weather tent. I am wondering what your suggestion would be for camping in South Texas where nighttime temperatures can exceed 90° and humidity's in the 90 to 80% range. That can't
@@livingsurvival How would you say the snugpak holds up in foul weather, now that it's been a few years? I've heard that it's a rather squat tent and can be uncomfortable due to the low ceiling. I have the snugpack cave which is a very warm tent for winter camping, it’s just a pain in the ass to setup, this bunker looks like it’s also painful to setup as well. I’d sure like to find a tent for 3-4 people that is one piece and free standing and can be assembled in 5 min or less. Any ideas?
Good review video, whats your feel on long term durability of the floor materials? Most campsites I am in are packed gravel or roots and sticks, almost never a nice flat grassy patch that you showed.
I could see it puncturing if not careful. Durable but not stick or sharp rock durable. I usually put down a sol survival tarp/blanket under if I need extra durability.
Have you ever had this tent out in the winter with a foot of snow on it? I know snow makes an excellent insulation barrier and I was wondering if the design could take the load?
So, now that I've had a chance to use it more than once or twice for a few days at a time, I will say it's an awesome tent and incredibly well made and easy to use. However, it is in no way a two person tent!! I'm 5'11" and 185 lbs and there was really only enough room for me and my pack...and that was kind of pushin' the envelope. As I stated earlier though, it's an awesome tent!!! You will not be disappointed owning it!!

Vents allow precipitation splash/blow into the actual tent. IF the temp. drops can mean ICE on and IN the actual tent as well as the 'rain-fly'. Northface Rock 32 is also bad about this.
Living Survival - The outside is visible from high up while inside the tent. this is the GAP or where precip splashed into or under the rainfly and into the tent. Froze the rain-fly and tent doors. I did NOT have a gfood experience with this equipment.

Hey Ben, I'm a tall man coming in at a little over 6'3 and about 190lbs. I really want to go ahead and purchase this tent on Amazon. But I'm reading a lot of reviews, and people 6'0 are complaining about the head/foot room...?? Do you personally think I would be able to fit, with my pack and a second camper in this tent? I hope so, I really dig this tent and I'm ready to buy lol. Please, if you think it won't be a good fit for me, could you possibly recommend one to me? Thanks man!
+Michael Fabian It might be a little tight unless you sleep in the middle which is the longest part. Should be ok. Buy it on Amazon and then return it if not is what I would do.
+Living Survival Thanks for your advice man! You are 100% right, with the return policy on Amazon, a person could NEVER go wrong ordering whatever, trying it out, and even sending it back if need be lol. I cannot wait to get my hands on this Monster, very excited to take it out this winter! Thanks again man!
Pitch the rain-fly first myth - you have to buckle the tent to the poles and that is easier as an outside task. Plus tents do perform better IF staked out, which is also an outside task. Guy-lines is an outside task. So...maybe you could let your gear start to dry off under the rain fly as you setup...IF the rain-fly AND tent didn't allow for blow and splash...
Fox Fleet First, thanks for the comment. Secondly you can leave the inner attached once you do it once making it really fast to setup. This tent was setup for over a month in near blizzard conditions without being guy'd out and didn't budge, nor did any "blow or splash" get in the tent.
Living Survival - Not my experience with this style tent. Actual ice on the mesh and frozen places inside the tent. My sleeping mat saved me as the tent really did not. Blowing rain, turned quickly to freezing-rain/sleet. Mini-ice storm. Due to freezing we did NOT want to shelter under trees that could be dropping broken limbs or deadfall onto us. Rain splashed once the vents were guy'd out. Doors became ice on both the rain-fly and tent...and into the tub...
@@livingsurvival I saw both videos. Love your reviews! You are our go to review guy whenever we are thinking of making any kind of outdoorsy or flashlight purchase! I couldn’t find the video you mentioned that you would make about taking the bunker out overnight like you did the scorpion.
Also most self contained tents also tend to build up condensation REALLY badly in cold weather. Contrary to what most people would assume, you NEED ventilation in the winter months, much more so than the other three seasons, in order to expel the moisture from your breath/ body heat.

Buy a bigger tent
is there any thermal blocking tents?

+Ronny Scott amazon
how would this tent compare to the ionosphere?
Looks pretty good. Great video my friend.
Thank you for watching.
Once interior is set, does any light from inside out?
+Phantasmos light?
nice video happy new years
Good review Ben, whats the price point on this?
$269
has it been tested uder heavy rain? it seems light...
+Aryeh Katan I left it setup outside for over a month and checked it when pouring rain, dry as a bone.
Any Top tents for Survival backpack?
Really for a survival pack a good tarp would be best. Tents, any lightweight 2+ man tent would be good.
Thank
What keeps the critters out?
Any comparison related to snugpack scorpion v bunker?
I’ve done videos on both.
@@livingsurvival I saw both videos. Love your reviews! You are our go to review guy whenever we are thinking of making any kind of outdoorsy or flashlight purchase! I couldn’t find the video you mentioned that you would make about taking the bunker out overnight like you did the scorpion.
Not to sound ignorant, but why is this tent any better than an all weather, self contained (floor attached) tent I can buy at Target for $50-$100?
Materials, poles, zippers, mesh, stitching. You pay for what you get in tents.
+Living Survival thanks .....
Also most self contained tents also tend to build up condensation REALLY badly in cold weather. Contrary to what most people would assume, you NEED ventilation in the winter months, much more so than the other three seasons, in order to expel the moisture from your breath/ body heat.
I don't see it being a 4 season tent maybe 3
Where do I get this tent?
Looking for used seek outside tent for a hot tent I have wood stove
No vestibule?
Love the Bunker, but if your over 6’ and use an inflatable mat, you will be disappointed in the space inside. My feet and head touch the interior.
