It’s some serious butterfly effect stuff. Like you don’t want to be happy that she was kidnapped but if she were to have never gotten in the car, if the kidnapper were to have used his turn signal, she would have never been adopted. Things could have gone so differently but this was the absolute best outcome. It’s like those games, bad ending, good ending, or true ending and she got the good ending.
My response to Story #2 : My mother was a drunk and a party girl, and was even a "professional groupie" for most of the 1970s. She ditched me with my grandparents when I was little, as I was "too much of a burden for her" (This was after a couple of attempts to straight up abandon me in random locations several times), so they raised me. After 6 years in the air force as a Pararescueman, I went to university, and earned a PhD in Behavioural Psychology. Now I work with children, teens, and young adults, who have emotional, mental, and social issues, and have done for the past 27 years. We don't have to let broken people break us, and we have to look after ourselves and stick to paths that will take us to better places. The grind is hard, but important and worthwhile.
Listening to the stories in my breaks at work really give me a boost! Although, the second story is terrifying to think what could have happened if the police hadn't stopped them.
Second story: Girl, I feel you. I was in an abusive household too when I was young. Im happy to hear that you are doing great in your live and you have people you can count on. Big hug.
In story 2 when she said “I go to Michigan State University and study psychology to be a therapist” I literally clapped and said out loud “good for you!” Lol these stories get me sometimes

Story number one. You don’t need to continually apologize for being afraid. Complex perhaps. Why apologize for any way that you feel? It sounds creepy as hell.
I really resonate with story 2. I'm glad I'm not the only one that suffered with shitty parents. For context same thing- Mother was a street sex worker, drug addict, and hard drinker. Left my brother and I to my divorced grandpa who raised me since I was 5 and my brother since he was 3. My dad groomed me as a small child according to my grandpa and is now in and outta prison. It's always amazing to hear when someone comes out of a shitty situation like that and bounces back. I'm glad to hear OP from story #2 is doing amazing 👏💙✨

Some people don't deserve to be parents. My best friend was abused mentally and sometimes physically too since she was a kid. I would shoot those bastards without even blinking, if I knew I wouldn't go to prison. It pisses me so much that sometimes I can barely even speak, I'm that angry. Second story is too close to home. My mother was the exact same way. I love her for giving birth but I can never ever forgive her for what she has done to me as a child. But Frim that I know that I will never treat my children the way I was treated.
The person in story #2, I feel sorry for that person. If it wasn't for the grandparents that girl would have been in a world of shit. Parents should always put their kids first before anyone but unfortunately their are a lot of parents that don't put their kids first and don't care about their kids and doing drugs on top of that and not having a strong relationship with their kids can mess them up psychologically and emotionally. It's sad.

I know what it’s like to be disappointed every single time by your parents. Every single time. I so hope you see this so you can read these words and know that I truly, for real mean them. You don’t have to repeat the process. I’m almost 56, I have 3 sons…all well educated, one is a postal worker with a beautiful wife and son who they provide a very comfortable life for. one does the coding thing with a beautiful wife and they just bought a big, beautiful house. My youngest is a senior at the University of Tennessee and will graduate summa cum laude next spring and then starts and internship in environmental mapping LiDAR stuff that’s way over my head. Never get out of therapy..never take medicines to try and fix your childhood…and I recommend hiking. If your legs work then being on a mountaintop at sunrise alone or with your our significant other or your kids is the best medicine you’ll ever take. I’m a wildlife and landscape photographer with a husband who’s also my buddy and those three amazing boys. I feel like I pulled one over on the universe. Again, you don’t have to repeat that horrible process.

I know it may be odd but I have never been afraid of the dark in fact I have always preferred the dark. When I was a kid I was always walking through the woods to my granny's house. I guess I'm an odd ball.

For the first story I don't know why they had their sirens on that's probably why he didn't get to steal anything or do whatever he had planned because he heard the sirens and took off way before they got to the house

The stories were good but in the second one when they rambled about the details of their life story and everything at the end seems unnecessary because it didn’t seem significant to the story and therefore just made it unnecessarily long and dull
