Ssanyong go all Electric

The KGM Torres EVX is a large family all electric SUV from a brand you’ve probably never heard of called KGM, even though the company has been around since 1954 making decent 4x4 off-road vehicles and pickup trucks. KGM or Korean General Motors, is the new name of SsangYong, the South Korean car maker that’s been selling decent SUVs in the UK for years now. KGM took over SsangYong in 2022 and have continued to produce the Rexton and Korando models, however, the Torres range is the first new model solely produced under the KGM badge.
The Torres EVX has a smart, stylish exterior design that looks very fresh compared with many of the dull alternative SUVs currently on the market. The interior has a premium feel with some sharp design elements that give this SUV some proper character. Inside there are a pair of 12.5-inch displays with the majority of functions controlled through these screens, which are clear and responsive. Interior space shouldn’t be a problem either as the KGM Torres EVX shares similar dimensions with much larger rival seven-seaters, but being limited to five seats means the boot is massive at 703 litres and over 1660 litres with the seats down, thats bigger than most alternatives you’ll be considering.
There’s a petrol version called the Torres ICE, which comes with a 1.5-litre petrol engine plus theres a hybrid version coming in 2025 which will complete the range.
The KGM Torres starts at around £39,995 but you wont have to spend out on any add on packs like its competitors as the KGM Torres EVX comes with pretty much everything you need, even in the entry level trim. The KGM Torres is available in entry level K30trim, which includes pretty much everything you would want in a modern car, to range topper K40, which gets bigger rims and some extra tekkie bits, plus theres now the new K40 AWD trim (only available as a combustion engine version) if you are looking to do some more serious off roading. All trims are available in six different colours.
