    i am glad to see Upscayl in your Video. :) The really best thing about it is the batch upload. So you can use Adobe to export a video into frames and the upscayl the whole folder. And completely for free you have a upscaled video like from the super expensive Topaz video Upscale. :)))

    Thank you for this! 👍 Unless I were making money from my images, I wouldn't spend money on an upscaler like Topaz, despite its impressive capabilities. Upscayle has worked just fine for me 95% of the time. MJ - meh.
    edit 1: One thing almost all of them do is remove noise/grain from images as a default 'cleanup and upscale' setting. So in case you've generated images with a little grit and noise on purpose, then Topaz takes the lead because I _believe_ it gives us control over how much it'll clean up along with the upscaling.
    edit 2: The photo 'Remacri' setting in Upscayle _retains_ the noise and upscales it! Awesome!

    • @FutureTechPilot
      @FutureTechPilot  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Is that what 'remacri' is supposed to do?? haha I've tested it and definitely noticed that 'grain' but I wasn't quite sure what that model was doing

    • @AG_before
      @AG_before ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FutureTechPilot I'm not 100% sure. But it certainly maintained the noise with an MJ iteration in which I added grit in PS. But since I've been using it, the output files are 30-40 megs, and there's no way to choose different dimensions, I think. Yeah, I really like the Remacri version.

    Thanks for the comparison video, Nolan.
    No question. Topaz rocks. While it's great that MJ have added their upscalers, it creates file management issues.
    1.) It takes a lot longer to download the upscaled versions from their server, which I've found to be slow and unstable with batch downloads, even with their standard low res images.
    2.) MJ haven't included an at-a-glance way of differentiating between the 3 different file outputs. I suggest different coloured borders or make the thumbnail sizes reflect their file size.

    • @FutureTechPilot
      @FutureTechPilot  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    cool! there is a huge problem with a topaz Face detection mask, try it on bearded man like Santa, half of beard is blurry because of portrait mask, and other half is sharp... we need to correct it by hands, why there is no detection by skin or something else... and we can't apply different types of correction to little groups of images in big batch (why?). so i ask you to make video about Topaz AI... it worth your time, i think we all say you big thanks for it.

    Is Topaz Photo AI (upscaling) the same as Topaz Gigapixel I'm confused.

    • @FutureTechPilot
      @FutureTechPilot  ปีที่แล้ว

      Similar, but not the same. Gigapixel is still amazing but Photo AI is just a newer piece of software

  • @Thundenfury
    @Thundenfury ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I did that test multiply time myself. Did that again after MJ added theirs upscalers. It’s a big no.
    And topaz is the fastest for sure and for its speed it does give the best quality. If the time isn’t important the best upscaler of all is still Stable Diffusion img2img with control net because of its tuning, exact settings with the right samplers and upscale models. It just preserves lots of details and can add its own where it’s supposed to be while topaz only can refine the original image.
    But you can’t just do batch upscale like that. It will be time consuming. I personally still use SD for my MJ works but Topaz wins in speed.

    • @FutureTechPilot
      @FutureTechPilot  ปีที่แล้ว

      Very good points! Each upscaler really has their own benefits. It's almost like there is no wrong answer

    I use topaz gigapixelai, I was told by many that the photoai is pretty much the same thing but with different names for the options & sliding scales. I do know topaz have released a photoai 2 … is this the version you used? Have you used gigapixel? Did I invest in the right one? I’ll run the trial but without saving & being able to analyse properly might be a tricky test?

    • @ErichMillerTV
      @ErichMillerTV ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use Gigapixel as well and have had no issues with it. It's great. It might be one and the same with Photo AI, but with different options.

    • @FutureTechPilot
      @FutureTechPilot  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Gigapixel is definitely good enough, but my understanding is that Photo AI is their new focus. I could be wrong about that though. And Photo AI 2 is the standard version that you can buy now - the one I used in the video

    Hi @FutureTechPilot :) I have a mother of all questions regarding these examples. Have you applied Topaz upscaler on 1K base MJ photo in the video or you applied it on MJx4 photo as a base. I presume that you probably used 1K base photo for a fair comparison, but wanted to double check. All the best.

    I find it odd that midjourney upscales rather than just recreating the image at higher resolution with more detail. Is it a limitation with the technology?

    • @FutureTechPilot
      @FutureTechPilot  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This model in particular is referred to as 'subtle' which means it changes as little as possible, but they are also working on a 'creative' upscaler that will act in the way you described. It may change the picture a little, and I can only assume that will lead to higher quality. Maybe I'm wrong about that though haha
