I became Mr Mom in 2020 after being laid off. I worked in the oilfield for 16yrs. Due to health issues, wife and I decided that it would be best for me to stay home with the kids. We have 2, 15M and 7F. Some women my wife have talked to just automatically assume I'm lazy and freeloading. I rather go back to work but physically can't. Most recent issue I've had was my daughter had a dr appointment 90 miles away from home. She needed to go to the bathroom, so I stopped at a gas station. She has medical issues, so I take her to a stall in the men's room. That time as we were leaving, a cashier followed us out. Luckily it never went farther than that. I will point out that I'm in texas and will protect my kids. Even if it means I have to unalive someone

My best friend is a woman, we went out and got dinner at a "bar and grill". When we were done I turned to her and said "I'm gonna head to the bathroom, head on out to the car" she responds with "you don't tell me what to do I tell you!". So everyone was looking and I like "okay haha" knowing she was joking but no one else did. After we got in the car we laughed about it and even she admitted if me as a guy said that it would've been perceived way worse than her. I could practically here some of the women around us say "you go girl" when it happened.

Once I saw a woman drop her keys coming out of a store as I was going in. I picked them up and approached the woman to give them back. I had barely begun talking when she rudely said, "I don't let short, fat bald guys hit on me." I'm bald by choice (due to mild alopecia), I am heavy but since I'm 5'10", I don't consider myself short. I held up her keys and said, "I was going to give back the keys you dropped, but since you decided to go full bitch, go fish." And I dropped her keys into a trashcan and went into the store. When I came back out, she was still trying to get her keys out of the garbage. I'm rarely that callous towards people, but I didn't start it.

For story 5, there are many times when a man refuses to help children or women in need.
For example, there was a story about a lost crying child at a grocery store. A man was about to approach but stopped. The man looked around before walking away.
The person who saw the man asked, "Why didn't you help that kid?"
The man responds, "If I get involved in any way, I'm thought as a pedophile by default."
It's not just children but women, too. A woman is either being abused by her boyfriend or she is drowning. You jump in to help, but instead of being rewarded as a hero, that woman said you were the aggressor or you sexually assaulted her.
That's why, nowadays, men are refusing to help women and children. It makes them look like a coward, but they think it's better than possibly going to jail from false accusations.

What ticks me off are the assumptions women make about what men are “supposed” to do. Not all women are the same so why do some assume all men should just “know” how to treat them? Like holding open doors - I do that for everyone, young or old, male or female, and I think if someone doesn’t do it for me, either they didn’t notice I was there or they’re just self entitled. I don’t waste a second thinking about it. But I don’t assume they should do it just because I’m a woman. Neither do I assume men should pay for dates, get out of the car to open the door for me, walk between me and the street or every puddle, etc. And I’m not so self centered to believe every man who asks me a question automatically wants my number to date or sleep with me. But I see too many women complain they aren’t treated fairly because of their gender yet still expect men to display “chivalry”, or contrarily, assume the worst of every male stranger they come across. Yes, this is a complaint about my own gender, but it truly irks me when I see or hear it.

I can understand why people assume a girl will sing, maybe I would make this assumption too as well, that's why I stopped expecting things from people, or at least try not to.

Story #7: I was raised to 'Not hit girls' .I was constantly being told, from a toddler age.
Later, I learned as an adult that "Gentleman do NOT Hit LADIES, Women Who Hit MEN are NOT Ladies..."
    Draw that what you will.
The stigma about hitting Females is, thankfully, beginning to Fade, when out in societal situations. With the exception of Domestic Situation, it's still the Domestically Abusive policeman that respond, and since people tend to think that Everybody Thinks & Acts like them, when responding to a domestic call, at the house they are still going to Arrest the Man, NO MATTER WHAT.

    "All women want children."
No, we don't. There's plenty of us that don't but society can't fathom when a woman doesn't want children and doesn't want to babysit, hold other people's children or change a diaper for someone else's child. Meanwhile no one ever hands over a child to a man or asks if he would mind changing the diaper or babysitting.

The family of the teenaged boy is fighting to get the case appealed and more severe charges/jail time for this teacher. If the roles were reversed I guarantee you the male teacher would be serving several years longer behind bars.

Yeah, the kid thing, I'm single. Apparently society says the childless should have no interaction with children whatsoever.
I live in a neighborhood with no fences, often we would have open cookouts that rotate from tenant to tenant every weekend, the local kids come, play in the back yards, have a great deal of fun, and go home when called. everyone kept an eye out for their well being. The parents were perfectly fine with this, hell, we would often babysit. Fast forward a couple of years, One of my next door neighbors' brother came by for a few days, he had just gotten out of prison, not not for that stuff, but still. The kids would come by and play, we'd watch over them as they explored the river in our back yard, yard games and the like. We'd play a bit with them, they'd move on. The bro started accusing us of all sorts of illegal cr@p. My neighbor pretty much disowned him, but it cast a pall on any of our interactions with kids.
Sorry, unless it is life or death, I'm not interacting with kids

Dating: I saw a video where a woman goes on about how “he was a great man, and he even raised my already high standards, but he just wasn’t right for me, etc.” And everyone in the comments of the video was supportive “You go girl!” And such. A man, proving this point, makes a video saying the exact same things as this woman, word for word with the only changes being pronouns from he to she, and he gets roasted, called a jerk with some people even telling him to “game over” himself. So it’s okay for women to choose to leave a relationship, but not for a man to? Yeah, no, that shit don’t fly with me

It's true male caregivers get caught under an undue amount of scrutiny a lot of the time. I practically raised my niece, in the dad role, because her father was unfortunately out of the picture, and my sister had plenty of work on her plate. When she was a little kid, she was always excitedly calling me "Uncle Jack" when I'd get her from school, etc. People would still side eye me, but as long as they could ascertain the relation, they were more or less fine. Now that she's gotten older and we talk a bit more (for want of a better word) normally with each other however... Things get infuriating for me. Everyone seems to wanna swoop in and save her from me. We recently got her her driver's license, and she and I ended up going to eat at IHOP. We sat down and were chitchatting about video games or something when this dude barks out "What the hell is all this? Look at this!" It takes a moment to register he's pointing toward our table. He comes storming over demanding "What the hell's the matter with you guy? She is young enough to be your damn daughter." To which I replyed "She actually pretty much is." He says "Pretty much? The hell does that mean?"
I looked at her, and she's got her face hidden behind her hands, halfway laughing, but clearly a bit embarrassed. I said to this guy "Her biological father is dead, and her mother's on the other side of the continent. Do you need for me to spell it out any further?"
That was about the time my server came over and was asking about the commotion.

The thing that annoys me most about double standards & not only for genders but race, political standing, social standing, generational etc.... is that ppl only see or care about dbl standards that they're not benefiting from & also alotta the time the dbl standard isn't exactly true in all cases. For example with gender some men will see a domestic violence incident where the female is the offender & will immediately say if the roles were reversed he would be in jail. Implying that women can get away with this but men cant. Now im not claiming a female never got off scott free but I've watched TV, news or stuff on social media where the woman was treated just how a guy would. In 1 such case on the show cops the police came to a call about a lady that had gone in her ex's house & broke stuff because he wouldnt take her back. They ended up arresting her & weren't gentle when she resisted. On the other hand i saw a few episodes where the guy had broken stuff & was drunk & was acting belligerent but the cops gave him an option of going to jail or having some1 pick him up so he can go sleep it off. As far as a dbl standard that women claim about men is that if a man acts assertive & strong opinionated its ok but if a woman does it shes a b****. Which again might be the case for some but not always & not in my eyes. 1. Theres a difference in being opinionated & being rude & obnoxious & it goes for both genders. Some ppl think that they have the mentality that you gota act or talk a certain way ro get your point across when you can do it a respectful & calmly manner & most likely get better results. Again it goes for men & women for me if a guy acts rude or disrespectful when they talk to me theyre a douchebag & or a**hole & if its a female yes shes being a b****. Another thing i hate is that when any1 on the opposite side whether its gender, political, racial etc.... complains about a dbl standard or discrimination theyre just being cry babies or just making excuses but the ppl saying that are quick to complain about the dbl standards & discrimination they face. As if only their opinion or beliefs are valid & no1 else's are. For example with race theres ppl that will see a minority say they were discriminated because of their race & you'll have ppl that say theyre just making this about race or theyre race baiting or using their race as a crutch. Yet if they were to see a video were a minority attacks a white person the 1st thing they say oh if the races were reverse ppl will be calling it a hate crime. Again im not saying theres not ppl that would say that my point is how is this not making it about race or race baiting or using your race as an excuse. Also theres times when the report says that the offender had previous cases of assault & some where on their own race so it clearly wasn't racially motivated & more of a career criminal & a case of some1 with mental illness. On the flipside when there were whites that didnt want minorities in "white" sports they were called racist bigots. Yet some of those same ppl that complained about that will say Eminem doesnt belong in hip hop because hes white or theres no way he can be the best because hes white in a black sport. Yet some1 says that about the William's sister when it comes to tennis theyre racist butcits ok for you to say it. Every race/ etnicity has racists in it & is also a victim of racism or racial dbl standards including my own Latino race/ethnicity

These are the two double standards I really hate of your an older man and let's say your friends with a young woman all of a sudden everybody looks at it as weird and suspicious as if you're out to get into their pants even though you're just trying to be nice friendly and a friend to them understandably cuz to most people that just means like I said before you just want to get into their pants The second double standard that I hate most of all is let's say you and your spouse who is also a woman gets attacked by another random woman for no apparent reason and the moment you start defending them neither you have to restrain them or even knock their ass out all of a sudden you're seen as the aggressor even though this person started it and you were just defending your spouse because let's say your spouse is very weak and they don't know how to fight or defend themselves and they're not the type of person that likes to fight in the first place or even defend themselves because they want to solve the situation peacefully and it's a you take that route with your spouse to solve the situation and try to calm things down but yet this person decides to attack the both of you and like I said before when the cops are called you're seen as the aggressor unless it's a crowd of people filming the interaction beginning to end that's the only way the cops let you go and see that person as the aggressor which is really sad cuz then it says that some women get to get away with their actions knowing that they didn't just harm the person you were protecting who can't defend themselves but they got away with harming somebody that can protect them because the cops think like oh look at you you're a big guy with muscles and this woman who would talk to you is a woman and I don't think that's fair that their standards like that and I'm sorry if the way I put it is very weird I don't normally talk about stuff like this unless it's with friends or family members because I have a better time talking in person with people that I do over my phone when it comes to the way I'm trying to get things out with my glamor but the point is this it just upsets me that there's double standards like that and because you're a man you're always going to be looked at as the bad guy like even if you're defending somebody like a kid you have to have some ulterior motive while there are women that do have those ulterior motives and get away with actual cases of kidnapping child molestation a grooming and stuff like that and it's very rare for women that have those consequences compared to men and I will say sometimes there is a higher chance for men to get away with it too I will say that as well cuz sadly you know both men and women are having an easier time as predators getting away with that type of behavior

To be fair, women often are better than many men at everything... because many men can coast on mediocrity and that they will not be challenged so don't always have to put in the effort or practice that women do.
Obviously does not apply to every exact situation, but it is definitely a thing that internalised sexism means women have to perform to a much higher skill and knowledge level than men are expected to for half the acknowledgement and may still experience rejections or criticisms men will not face. Because men are inherently believed to be knowledgeable or to know what they are doing and may not even be asked questions, while a woman's competency may endlessly be in question.
It's like when fans of stuff demand women be extra knowledgeable to be recognised as fans at all period, while guys can be casual fans and won't get asked to prove they're true fans, they'll just be accepted from their word alone but with every skill, hobby, job etc. where men are assumed to be the default. So women do get better and more knowledgeable, not because they inherently are magically, but to defend themselves and prove competency that men aren't as often forced to.

I got berated by my SIL for not "keeping up half the housework" and not being an equal partner to my wife, in front of my agreeing wife. My reply? "Oh, so you think we need to split everything 50/50? Okay then, I work 50 hours per week, you work 30. I'll gladly put in another 5 hours of housework per week, but I'll be dropping a shift at work. In order to make ends meet, I'll need you to start picking up those available weekend shifts they ask you about at work, so you'll need to go up to 42 hours per week and pay half the bills." Got called an asshole for wanting pure gender equality.

Story 6 - Religious teaching is a form of child abuse and needs to be recognized as such. Let's ignore, for a the moment, the well-known child predator aspect to certain groups of preachers and the alarmingly frequent overlap with hate groups. A religious upbringing still severely damages a child's ability to tell fantasy from reality by insisting that fictitious religious parables actually happened, despite a complete lack of evidence or large amounts of evidence to the contrary.
Religion also holds back every kind of progress: Social, societal, scientific, and technological. It's a stupefying force of stagnation. The job of preacher is just a glorified story teller with a bit of amateur town shrink (in the same sense as a decent bar tender or barber). Preachers range from decent folks that got suckered, to child predators, to (in the case of mega churches and prosperity gospels) full on conmen on the grift.
