I remember a similar story to the last one about OP having a dead baby (I don't remember whether it was a stillborn, miscarriage, or death of a baby after birth but the overall circumstances were similar) and her family honored the baby by carving a wooden thing for them.. Well OP's sister decided to name her baby the same name and demanded that the wooden thing to be removed from the family home so it wouldn't confuse the child (and received some well deserved backlash from them) so she decided to pressure OP into asking her parents to remove it but OP refused
Last story: It's one thing to ask permission to name your child after a family stillborn as a way to honor them. It's another thing entirely to steal the name and diss the original name as well as the parents.
The last story hit me hard… I was supposed to be an identical twin, my sister came out stillborn… the *THOUGHT* of a *FAMILY MEMBER* using the *SAME* name as the stillborn is not only disgusting to me, but also straight disrespectful…
In my experience it's because management has bad attitudes towards certain jobs or employees. Where I work the managers have a bad attitude about the cashiering and seem to think it's a waste of manpower. But the moment the cashiering end gets flooded with customers it's all hands on deck.
In story two, when I heard that the sister was naming her daughter Rosemary, it reminded me of my first oc, who's name is also Rosemary. I just call her Rose for short. Yes, I named her after the herb just to clarify. But in terms of the story, I the sister is the jerk for taking the name, changing it up a bit, and posting about it online.
We have 2 people right now to work at my work (we work shifts alone) I hurt my knee due to worn shoes I was allowed to use a chair and not walk around as much. I didn't go to the doctor though and it isn't that bad. My owner (small store franchise) will literally work for me if I have a problem.
Story 4: yes it's in no way the employees problem. However I hate the "if management had just hired more people there'd be no problem" mentality that AITJ gave as someone currently in a short staffed job and someone previously in a management position with a shortness of staff. It's not always the immediate management's fault. When I was an assistant manager I was the first stage of interviews. And we'd constantly get people who wouldn't fit the company and some that could pass the interview but failed the mandatory online morality test. Think "You wouldn't steal $1 yes or no? You wouldn't steal $10 yes or no? Do you do drugs? Etc". Making hiring almost impossible for the pay we were allowed to give. And then my current job is constantly understaffed. My manager isn't the most competent man but he's always trying to hire new employees. He gets 4 lined up to start the hiring process and then no one shows up. Most likely because once again, he's not in control of our pay. I could make slightly more working as a Target cashier than working here, but this job is way easier which is the only reason I haven't left yet.
