These are excellent HF radios. The original IC-706 was manufactured from 1995 - 1996 before the MKIIG series was produced, which was manufactured from 1999 - 2009. And the IC-703 QRP model was released in 2002. Today the used resale value is $300. - $500. which proves how amazing these units are.
also directions for hardwiring face plate for ic 706- ic 706mk2g. reversible if you ever need to for resale. don't know why you'd part with one. great mobile rigs. . 73.
QUESTION I am running the ic706mk2 and been told there is a Battery in the unit, either in the main body or the external, I have open the main unit and have not found the battery, can you tell me where to look for it
There isn't a battery in the radios control-head that I'm aware of. I'm only familiar with the control-head. Here's a link to the service manual. After a quick look. I could not find the battery. It might not be a coin type battery? I'm curios now too. It has to have some sort of internal power for the memory. What is this issue? Why do you need to find the battery? Factory reset: With radio turned off - Press the Power button and the "Down" Band button (located in bottom right corner) at the same time. This will re-boot the radio to its original factory settings. www.repeater-builder.com/icom/pdfs/ic-706-svc-man.pdf

Looks good. But my display isn't green but orange.
IC-703 QRP radios have a orange screen. The repair works the same way for both the IC-703 and IC-706 units.

@@KG5JMV Was told this many times by KE0OG that there is one, so I been searching the main body but never found one
What adhesive did you use to re-attach the 2 communication strips? I guess it is important to keep the ports clear.
I don't use adhesive. I use the metal frame to group everything together and snap it back in place. Hope this helps.
@@KG5JMV Great! It just took 2 tries to get it realigned and working again. That screen looks like brand new!
