    Thank you, so much, for the updates in the world of publishing! I had an Editorial Assessment Review completed. The amount of professional feedback in terms of the best way to present my draft of my memoir was just outstanding. I am happy that I did that, because the suggestions made me take another view of what I had written. While I am in the process of making revisions, I know the result will be far better as I move forward to the next stage in advancing towards the Proposal process.

    I hired KN Literary for my editing process and we are only half way through. I've never been more excited about getting my book out there to the world. The editor I was matched with is amazing and has been extremely knowledgeable and helpful!

    As you say, editors cost thousands of dollars. Before committing to such an investment, I'd like to have an assesment of my memoir. That would put me in a position to decide to edit as much as I can alone, after receiving a few pointers from the assesment, throwing in the towel altogether, or making that leap into developmental editing. You seem to be addressing large New York publishers. Is the same true for submitting to small or specialized traditional publishers?

    • @knliteraryarts
      @knliteraryarts  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There can be variations, but you can assume that the information is true for all publishers.

    How much would a publisher cost?

    • @knliteraryarts
      @knliteraryarts  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A publisher does not cost anything, but you need an agent and publisher to pick up your book in order to publisher through them. Hiring your own editor can range greatly in price.

    Is it worth it to send a proposal to editors and publishers when the book isn't finished? Or is this something that should wait until after you have finished it to the best of you ability and hired an editor?

    • @knliteraryarts
      @knliteraryarts  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely. You do not need a finished book to send out a proposal.

      @@knliteraryarts Thanks. I have sent out query letters with log lines and synopses so I don't know much about book proposals. I study up, but offhand, how many words/pages approximately is it?

    • @jedwing
      @jedwing ปีที่แล้ว

      @@knliteraryarts Does this apply to memoirs? I read somewhere that memoirs need to have a draft.

      @@knliteraryarts Where would you send a book proposal? An agent? To publishers who have put out similar (but different) books? An editor? And what possible outcomes besides rejection can we get from a proposal?
