We do it simular to this in Sweden, and have a 3,2,1 code to determine whats needed. Prio 3 = Noting to serious "transport of some one that's is sick, some on feeling ill but not to bad, minor injuries ext, Ambulance is needed to come and will come with the staff onboard. Prio 2 = Can be some what life threatening, and medical care is need sone, Ambulance will come and som times the Premedic car tow, depending on whats the 911 call is about. Prio 1 = Medical Emergcency that is lif thretining and medical attention is needed ASAP, both ambulance and the Premedic car will come, even the police and firefighters will be sent if they are close by to assist until ambulance or the Premedic car arives. This works grate here, we save money but can also have more ambulances on the roads from the money saved, shortening response times, helping more people in need of medical attention.
Crazy idea...but perhaps the key to solving staffing shortages in EMS is to pay providers (Who in some states have a scope of practice close to an RN and in some ways beyond an RN), more than fast food wages? Nothing will change until EMS orgs, public and private realize this. Starting pay for an RN shouldn't be 100% more than a medic. And EMT's shouldn't make minimum wage. Medicare paying a fraction of what a private party/insurance pays certainly doesn't help when majority of EMS patients are Medicare patients...
Yep filter out the frequent fliers who use it like a taxi service. Ours has calls where they arrive late at night to a house with several vehicles and when they enter the house everyone is sitting around watching tv and the person who “needs” an ambulance is getting ready with an overnight bag to go, instead of someone else taking them and not waisting time on one of our two ambulances.
I live in Lake Havasu City Arizona and the same thing was happening they would send the fire truck out to a call but now they have a separate medical unit that just takes a pick up set up taking a big fire truck they just use a small pick up to go to medicals now and it's saving the city a lot of money
I've worked with Adrian. Good guy, excellent medic!

Literally what SoCal Fire does
I like that idea , would be great in more rural areas
Didn't realize not everyone didn't already do this. My volunteer been doing it for probably a decade if not more with a als in a responder.
Finally. This should have been done a long time ago across the country.
Great idea 💡 😊
