It doesn't work, all it does is show the bg_view with the text Dashboard and the first two buttons that stretch from the top to the bottom. Very bad.

bro i am unable to takke rrelative layout in my .xml file , it is taking constraint layout by itselt, please help resolving my issue

You will need to adjust these attributes in your child views according to RelativeLayout's requirements.
