Wouldn't DRAM also be inherently slower because of the charge and discharge times of the capacitors (+ the transistor switching time) compared to the transistors simply switching in SRAM?
All I got from this is that memory performance has a lot of room for improvement even with existing technologies, and since it turns out that memory performance seems to be a major bottleneck, computers are posed to become a lot more powerful even without gigantic investments or a magic bullet
Memory was always the most perfect part of a computer because everyone (server, client , mobile, graphics) needs it. Maybe this introduction is not to be taken as state of the art?
@ well, clearly 3d cache chips have demonstrated that merely increasing l3 cache size leads to substantial performance improvements. It couldn’t have been so perfect before
fun fact: RAS# and CAS# seen on memory specs are the Row Access Strobe and Column Access Strobe timings in terms of clock cycles

Yes, I mentioned that reading from DRAM involves discharging and charging back the capacitor, which takes time.

@@ArneChristianRosenfeldtyes but can be cost ineffective
@@ArneChristianRosenfeldt it doesn’t matter if the technology existed before for my argument
