The aesthetics of M&M are awesome! Part of what i loved about EQOA was that mix of stylized and colorful art, without being Disney. It's interesting both Pantheon and M&M are trying to hit that middle ground of stylized high fantasy while maintaining some realism. The new zone looks awesome. I'm ready to farm croc island til 2am!
Your comments about the skimpy gear and how you won't judge - "Whatever it takes to keep paying your subscription" - had me in tears with laughter. I love how in-touch you are with gamers. If you're the one writing many of the quests then I can't wait, because you have a wonderful sense of humor. Also, those elf animations look fantastic. I hope the same animator will be working on all the other race animations.
Shawn, buddy. We are gearing up my buddy's pally in another game, I won't mention the name.. but we were happy to hear the sound of him moving around in his armor. Sounded like he was wearing legit plate mail. I hope you guys will have chain mail jingling and when you hear a dwarf in full plate, he will sound like a mini iron golem lumbering around
Well if it isn't the new apple of my eye! Really pulling for ya'll! The MMO industry desperately needs a game dev they can trust. Some lessons you can learn from Pantheon: 1) THE BASICS HAVE TO BE THERE - I don't care about climbing or whatever other mechanic you dreamt up if your basic movement and camera controls are broken. If my character can't navigate over 1 foot rocks and ledges, or hits his head constantly on invisible ceiling when I jump too close to that 1 foot rock, then it doesn't matter what other cool feature you have. Please make sure you camera can handle when object are between the camera and the player, and doesn't get stuck in a loop of zooming in and out. Please make sure your camera doesn't move your 3rd person cam to a slightly different perspective every time you bump into an object in the world, making you run at a slight diagonal. 2) NO PARTIAL FEATURES - I can't believe I have to tell professional developers this, but please use Feature Flags in your code to prevent half developed features from making it into production. It is far better to have fewer features, that are all complete and present a nice vertical for the players, than it is to have tons of broken stuff everywhere. 3) NO PARTIAL ZONE DESIGN - You can't call your game an MMO where there is no life to the NPCs and no lore to explore. We need guards, we need citizens, we need cities and regions A generated terrain with some monster spawns is not an MMO. It's not even a game. 4) DYING WITH NO COUNTER PLAY IS NOT DIFFICULT OR PUNISHING - Difficulty demands counterplay. There is no counterplay when you make the game so punishing, that one mistake and you just have to accept your fate and die. A bad pull should not equal death. 1 unexpected add should not equal death. Farming easy content until you're geared and leveled to the point that you can easily farm the next step up in mobs isn't difficulty. It's simply grinding until you can press the "I win button". There has to be an in-between. Whether it's just being able to run to guards, zone, evac, feign death, root and camp... there are no tools for the players to use when things go bad. Otherwise, your game is so punishing that you discourage all exploration and risk taking, you've made the South Park boar hunting simulator. Hope you can avoid these mistakes
I always wanted to see player run market stalls, so you can plop them down and customize your own stall and the players could setup a proper market. Rather than having housing where that takes everyone out of the word, market stalls would give you that expression of creativity, but keep players together in the world. Every MMO I've played where they add housing and guild housing... The world is dead as everyone sits in there the whole time. It happened in SWG too where everyone used to hang out in the cities and then they added player cities... Suddenly every city but one died.
Tbh I see upcoming MMOs and it just makes me depressed as the reason I got into the genre was because it was innovative. Sadly though no one is innovating and I'm not counting you guys that are obviously going for a retro thing on purpose. I was really hopeful VR was going to be this new MMO frontier and then VR died on it's arse :/ I remember playing Rec Room in 2016 and it was the most amazing thing, for me that was like an MMO tech demo of the future. I got all the same feels from that game as I did when I first played EQ in 2000 or Planetside in 2003 or logging into SWG for the first time and being amazed at the atmosphere. I just look at every upcoming MMO and 1. They're just not appealing to me but 2. They're doing nothing new, all been there done that. When I played Lone Echo Arena and had someone flying up to me and putting their hand on my shoulder, it was this amazing experience I never had before. Like when I played EVE Valkyrie.... Why hasn't EVE Online been updated to play like that? It was SO AMAZING! Being in that cockpit and it was so fast paced and immersive, I've never had another cockpit experience quite like that in VR. Yet CCP do nothing, they stick with the same boring combat EVE has had since 2003 and it sucks. Why aren't they doing something with VR and MMOs using that? Instead they continue to make boring bland games no one wants like that FPS and that new failure of theirs using blockchain... Whatever that is. Give me Uncle Owen Online in VR.
I swear I backed Pantheon whenever they did a crowd funding thing originally. No idea where to go to find any of that information as do not use that email anymore lol.
I would love to see a characters stats impact their bodily appearance. Still allowing a player to shape, height, proportions but having a very high strength could show more muscular arms, legs, chest. A higher constitution could impact mass etc.

@@MonstersMemories its not about monitor types. Blue light filtering is a feature in all OS's, it reduces the blue light coming from the pixels in the screen to reduce eye fatigue. I told you to test it out and see how ridiciously dark it is, its literally just a toggle in Windows 11 as well as Linux distros and iOS, all OS's have it regardless of monitor model.

Same I absolutely love the style.

Dude you can talk about Pantheon here, it's ok. A lot of us went over to the Panth side to help support them while jonesing for MnM!! =D

We'll try our best, but I've got the feeling we'll still end up missing here and there. But hey... keep providing feedback and we'll keep listening.
Such a cool looking new zone. Can't wait to wade around the shallows watching the ships go by!
I'm looking forward to this game.
This all looks so cool. I can't wait!
I'm really loving the lighting effects. Amazing. Can't wait to dive in some more

Yay new vod! Hype!
Loving the forest zone.. really excited to see it in a playtest!
Can you remove shadows in the settings? I prefer a more flat look, like the og 1999 Everquest, gives a more eerie feeling.
I hadn't considered that. There's no option for it at the moment, but I guess it could be a thing.
Looking foward to play M&M : )
While eating m&m's.
I swear I backed Pantheon whenever they did a crowd funding thing originally. No idea where to go to find any of that information as do not use that email anymore lol.
We need Rat Men to be playable! Everyone LOVES Skaven!
lookin great!
Ive got a ton of ideas for how to work in caravans with an indepth crafting system. Creative juices are flowing....
Definitely a game developed in Germany 28:06
lol - that's actually the work of a Canadian. But he's a goblin irl.
But yeah, as someone living in Germany, I get your meaning.
I would love to see a characters stats impact their bodily appearance. Still allowing a player to shape, height, proportions but having a very high strength could show more muscular arms, legs, chest. A higher constitution could impact mass etc.
Eventually, as stats keep getting higher and higher, everybody would just be an orb. XD
What is there going to be for player trade an auction house. I can't stand trades without player interaction.
Trading is player driven, but we're providing tools to enable players to safely allow others to sell for them. I think it's covered in here somewhere.
Can't wait for M&M

Night is dark though. It would be cool to have varying shades of darkness according to moon phases however.

@@dragons10000 we can take a look at the blue filtering, but there's definitely a difference between monitor types as well.
@@MonstersMemories monitor models is less of an issue imo, the main problem is that too dark becomes double dark using blue light filtering
It encourages bots
What's that?
