If you're a big guy, don't even think about it. Been there done that, same harness and everything. It hurts within minutes. I ended up buying an actual rock climbing harness and throwing this clunky piece of garbage away, then bought the materials needed and fabricated my own saddle mimicking the leading manufacturers. The rock climbing harness is just a fail safe, I wear it under the saddle and have it attached to my tether with a carabiner. I've hunted 100+ hours out of my homemade saddle with all my weight on the saddle with none on the climbing harness and it's still comfortable and going strong. Total cost was somewhere around $75 for everything.
I've been using a sit drag conversion and it's nice. Way better than a rock climbing harness, but you absolutely have to sew on belt loops and leg loops for safety
Amen dude, I sewed up a two panel with camo 2 in web, added leg straps like a climbing saddle, love it. Your Amazon saddle is probably very comfortable and capable of very safe arborist style rope climbing, you can do a lot more with that saddle than the expensive basic hunting saddles, good move. What I did was copy the eberhart signature, with some modifications, did some machine sewing, but mostly hand sewing with large needle and thick waxed thread that is super strong

You refer to the self tightening knot a few times as the "crucix". It is actually a "Prusik" and only works if tied correctly. Might want to add a link to the correct way to make a prusik. Falling baackwards from a tree is a bad deal.

No not unless you had lineman or logging spurs on your boots to climb up I would highly recommend steps! But I did hunt out of the saddle setup in a cedar thicket and used the branches as steps
Great video. Just wondering if you have used a traditional saddle before? If so, how would you compare leg comfort? How does the bridge compare as well. Just getting into saddle hunting and I am a bit seasoned so long sits would be an issue if I am looking at pressure points on the legs.
I have not so I can’t give you that comparison at the moment. But I can tell you that this setup is comfortable and you really can’t even tell the leg supports are there.
I have a half body linesman’s harness already, however, have only used it to climb and rappel from my sit stand. So limited sitting time in harness under load. Will rig up a way to simulate a saddle sit in my basement so I see how it feels. Thanks for the reply.

I even bought a old used sewing machine ($10.00) to try to make panels. But I ended up spending $200.00 on an H2 saddle. Love it but I could have save a buck-fifty.
Haven’t sat all day yet! But have done a half day and this setup was pretty comfy! But you don’t have to specifically use this harness if you don’t want. There many different options you can find on Amazon that seem to fit you the best thanks for the question buddy!
Great points about this ridiculous cost of a saddle just because it's labeled as a hunting accessory. Price will drop when the fad fades and more people are seeing alternatives. Difficult to see what you were doing with the bridge, but please don't ever disconnect your carabiner when you're hanging on the line. Get another carabineer. Also please don't drag with the rope you hang from. Practical cost is one thing, but don't be THAT cheap when your life is hanging on the line, literally. If you can't be properly safe, spend a few more dollars or don't do it that way.
I understand the cheap, but you should be able to get into a decent saddle for $150-$175. The XOP renegade is $130 and doubles as your tree stand harness. I think it's a great product for guys like you. The other thing is that you bought a $70 saddle set up and then tagged on $300 in platform an sticks in the last minute. If you really want a cheap light set-up do this. Cranford Saddle Scaffold $60 Throwball kit $20 Climbing Rope and hitch cord $100 Rock climbing harness (life support) $60 Fleece saddle build (comfort) $30 That $270 or less if you can snag some stuff used. You can hunt any tree you can get a rope in, shoot 360 degrees around the tree with less weight, fiddle factor and more comfort and at about 8lbs total weight.

Mine has a rope bridge about 18" long and works great! Lineman loops are metal and a tad back...my only complaint.

Have the same setup. Just make sure you get knee pads if you sit all day it's worth the comfort good video. You saved people a ton of money
