    I learned as an adult too. Although I went a couple of times with friends when I was between 18 and 48, I started skiing forreal when my son got interested in my 49th year. It's been quite the journey. One must understand that one may never be as good as those who started as children, but skiing is the most wonderful activity I've ever done. It's changed my life in such a positive way :-)

      Same here. I didn't pick it up until I was 22 years old and I found it pretty difficult - so much of it felt counterintuitive. I skied for a few seasons but then fell out of it for quite a while. I'm back into it now and fortunately the technology has changed and the skis are easier to learn on. I'm also gonna do what I've been putting off for too long, getting some private lessons.

      @@dantrim3937 good for you getting back into it :-) Lessons are very helpful. Also, taking a mastery approach is key. I focus on mastering different skills each time I ski. This means giving up my ego and running on milder terrain. I find a good cruiser and work on balance, edging, and pressure. When I get on some steep terrain, I work on side-slipping drills (rotation). I take every run and varying condition as a way to improve. I wish you lots of great ski runs!

    I learnt at almost 40 (fell loads on dry slope, really painful) getting onto snow was a revelation. Have lessons to start with - then just go and love your time in the mountains. Next year (age 70) I will be skiing with my 7-year old grandson. He'll rapidly out ski me, but who cares, it's a totally life-enhancing experience.

    Finally someone who highlights the importance of your fitness level! A good fitness level is making leraning skiing so much more easier and makes the day on the mountain also way better for every skill level skier!

    I took up snowboarding and skiing when I was in my early fifties. I gravitated to skiing, finding it much less difficult. I never did take lessons; I learned with some short (three foot long) skis. For me, the feeling was much like skating. I graduated to the longer skis and seventeen years later, I look forward to winter, rather than dreading it.

    Why adults should learn to ski: balance, coordiantion, reaction and strengthen support muscles. All these factors are huge limits to life when going from adult to elderly. A simple fall at home as an older person is one of the biggest accelerators to inactivity and earlier death. Alpine skiine are one of the few actitivites to brake this.

    Adult learners are the cash cows of the ski instruction industry as they are guaranteed to never become an expert who no longer needs lessons. A very astute observation for CARV.

    That was pretty much me today. Turns depend on weight on the outside ski for each turn. Get over that terror. And bring other leg to parallel by lifting and sliding. Edge control is the golden rule. Tell me i am wrong and ill happily delete.

    great inspiration. I am 52, skiing since I was 4. However I still love skiing like I was a kid. Learning every time I am on the slope. Early in the morning sunny day, fresh air, few people on the slope and full of energy. Nicely tired in the evening but first one on the ski slope next day in the morning (again). :-) that's what the love about skiing is. Yes.

    Great videos! Going skiing in a few weeks after 2 years of Covid break. I’m an old fashioned short swing skier. Would the carv system help me improve further or is it specifically for people carving. And do you have any referral codes for the carv system you’re promoting?

      Hi, thanks for watching and for your question. Carv looks for balance, pressure and edge control. It’ll give you tips on how to keep your technique evolving. We have built the perfect scores based on modern instructor profiles - however many users find it valuable with classic technique. We have a 100 day love it or return guarantee so you can give it a go! Head to the Carv Skiers Community on Facebook and ask our users if you want some more views!

    So many of the resorts I see in these European videos have such nice wide, open runs. The runs near where I live are narrow.

      There are many resorts in Austria which have wide easy runs and lot’s of kilometers. And the prices compared to Us, Switzerland and France are cheaper.

    Hello Christian! A little off topic… How do you find the The Curv? Is it too demanding for an advanced (not expert) skier or is it a ski which you can push when you want to and ski relaxed when you want to?
    Thanks a lot!

    • @Neverstopsnowing
      @Neverstopsnowing 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Bamba Ramba, I think the curv is the perfect ski for an advanced skier. In previous years it was more an expert level ski but Fischer has changed a few things and made it way more versatile now! Very fun ski! Hope that helps! See you on the snow, Christian

    Christian, Question please: should socks be over baselayer pants? Or pants should be shorter?
    Thanks

    • @Neverstopsnowing
      @Neverstopsnowing 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi TeaSphere, please leave the baselayer pants OUTSIDE the ski boot. (There is 3/4 baselayer pants, or otherwise just leave it just under the shin). It is really important that you don't have anything else than your ski sock inside your ski boot! Hope that helps!

    I'm 31, kind afraid to learn how to ski, I've only had an introductory session to ski when I was 16 in highschool, but still interested because I live close to a ski resort (just 15 min by car).
    I would be interested as long as I find affordable ski lessons, the only thing that worries me would be breaking a bone or so?

      I dove in last year. Snowboard and skiing. Fell so many times and lost control with the speed. lol. Fortunately, I know how to properly fall so I did t hurt myself.
      I learned that they have magic carpet slopes that are the easiest. No lift. The magic carpet is a conveyor belt.
      We are going again this year and are definitely going to pay for private lessons.
