I enjoyed your video. While waiting for my apartment to be completed I decided to go ahead and apply for my retirement visa. It was no joke but a success. I did use a reliable agency. I realized where that gated community mentality came from. I love it in my case because I purchased a lock and go. Right before I tapped post, TV LICENSE, WHAT, MORE PAPERWORK WHAT. Guess I'll be watching TV on my phone😂
Im sharing this with my family! you guys are doing an amazing job at realistically showcasing the country! I cant wait to talk about these topics with the fam. PLEASE keep the videos coming. it renews my excitement for coming back and helps my family (who has never been) gain a perspective of what its like.
Enjoyed your talk as local. The TV license fees is to help cover the operational costs of the SABC, our public, state sponsored media broadcasting corporation.
5:04 On this pt, do keep in mind also that that same yte person would not do the same with a local black person. They all would rather help bring up black people from other countries, knowing that your presence in that space means one less local black person getting an opportunity to rise.
@@Ntuthu-ZA true. There is privilege being a foreigner. BUT there is a reason for this too. Why would someone be cautious on working with locals? I think you know all the answers to that question. And with a smile and a very caring attitude. All that said, I can see how it's hyper frustrating, especially being the local! What you may want to consider with the channel holders is they moved to Africa because they are Afrocentric. Meaning they PREFER to work with and be around Africans. @@SouthAfricatheB-Side 🙏🏾 I felt safe making the comment because I thought as black Americans you are equipped to understand this dynamic without feeling judged or attacked, due to the similarities in our peoples’ relationships with them folks, here and in the US. @@ubuntu6929 That’s quite some judgement, and a lot of assumptions in there, I don’t even know how to respond to them, coz you are so way off the mark in terms of the point I was making. Are you a local yte or one of the diaspora that dislike black South Africans? 1. I am not frustrated. I shared a piece of information that is important for our brothers and sisters from the diaspora to be conscious of, because I am conscious of similar dynamics that black people in America have to contend with. 2. I have had a very successful corporate career, even worked for IBM as well as one of our two banks that are on the list of most trusted banks globally - Standard Bank. In my career in large organisations I have worked with many very competent local Africans. Local yte people who are not scared to hire and train intelligent, competent black people get rewarded with our excellence, the rest miss out. The gated community thing bothers me as well as a South African. You're absolutely correct too. It started out initially as a way for the whites to insulate themselves from the general inequality problems caused by their Apartheid system. It's an unfortunate consequence of our history.
This were created for security reasons which by far is working considering the amounts of crime we are experiencing. From a Security point of view,we value them for keeping criminals restricted for access.
Our gated community is not racial so much it is because our crime has escalated so much so it is security more than racial. When i was in USA in the seventies there was far more crime there as SA we never locked doors and had fences.
You dont have to go to your won country to reactivate the visa, just visit lesotho, namibia, botswana or zimbabwe and when you cone back the 90 days is activated again….so you can stay the whole year doing this by hoping four times😂🤞🏽

@@GlobalGlimpse-fx7eo Thank you for the feedback. It is fair to say some of the things we mentioned may not be exactly framed as restrictions, but some are depending on your perspective. from my experience in SA, The gated communities aren't about apartheid, but are about theft. In Umhlanga if you dont have a gate, electric fence, active security system and trellidoors you are a huge target. witnessed it myself. its purely about security. I think its worth it to talk about the security there in depth. like the midset of of the robbers. It helps gain a perspective for people on how to look at it.its scary if you frame it off what happens there. In the states its rough too! BUT the unemployment situation in SA is a massive problem. Imagine 40% of the population is jobless! with no hope for change! People are going to get very creative on how to get money quickly. (like get a vest and be a car guard) pair that with the ruthless warrior spirit of the Zulu and you have a big situation. the crime is much more direct and aggressive when it hits you. no waiting until you leave to quickly grab your tv. they want you and your family home! so they can force you to open the safe or watch your spouse be raped. its WILD!!! THAT BEING SAID, WHCH IS A LOT! I felt safer in SA than in much of America as long as I was on my Ps and Qs. and despite the harsh crime, I would MUCH MUCH MUCH rather live in SA than America. have an elevated sense of security and that will help so much! hope I havnt scared somebody too much, but security is a thing, which is why you see the big electrified walls on regular houses. but when you take disciplined security precautions, you are good!
