Well I’m in Illinois and I put out a restraining order against someone and they do have 30 days. A couple reasons, one they to get to have an attorney as they get to tell their side, and I guess there’s also a “cool down period” where a lot of people don’t even want to go to court. If you go to court in 30 days you go in front of the judge with all your proof you have and eyewitnesses and such. Then it’s a 1 year grant so then every year after that you have to refile. I’m very Happy CA is 5 years and they need to do that across the board. Oh and when you get that restraining order you can put down friends and family that they also cannot contact as third party. What do you want police to do? Arrest and throw away the keys for every person stalking someone. The prisons couldn't hold them all - especially forever! And btw how beautiful she was is completely irrelevant - or do we object particularly strongly when someone beautiful is killed and not very strongly when someone not so pretty was killed?
I can’t believe the event coordinators didn’t ask him to leave after all the histrionics. It was wrong on every level for the person at the receiving end of that was left to deal with it...whether she knew him prior or not. Even if she said “I can handle this”, no, she was visibly upset. He was curled up on the floor having a tantrum while supposedly working at the event? No.
yeah like wtf? that part shocked me. in what part of society is that sort of behavior deemed acceptable or allowed to occur in, especially at a formal event, in front of guests, where he was supposed to be working at? what is wrong with the people running that event? why did they allow a fully grown adult man to throw himself on the floor and have a complete melt down as if he was a literal toddler? why did they not call and have security escort him off of the premises and contact authorities if he didn't comply? just completely mind boggling how they completely failed to deal with that situation.

Regarding Dave Navarro's mom's murder ~~ my best-friend roommate from my SF days - her mom was murdered with Dave Navarro's mom & it was profoundly traumatic for both of them happening when they were in high school - I shared a flat with my friend in the 90's & I learned the details of the murders when she (& Dave) had to testify during the victim portion of trial about what it was like to grow up from the age of 16 without their moms. Knowing that - I can totally understand Dave Navarro's concern and involvement in this murder.

Reminds me of Crystal Faye Todd..She was brutally murdered by her best male friend because she rejected his advances.. If a guy is giving you vibes or even says he has an interest and you don't, it's a pretty idea to set some boundaries and change the dynamic of the friendship.. Never assume what they're capable of..
Definitely! As women I think we need to understand that we have the right to set boundaries and to enforce them. But we are usually taught the opposite.

These guys that get so violent, head is spinning. It’s just frightening. Their behavior seems to switch from seemingly good decent people, suddenly to Freddy Kruger, with a “regular guy” face. There seems to be no way of deciphering, that they will become crazy-controlling, and deadly. It’s like a roll of the dice for these two victims.

When I was a young mother I was stalked by a drug addict neighbor. He ended up breaking into my house in the middle of the night. I pulled a loaded shotgun on him and told him to leave while waiting for the sheriff. He complied and left. When the sheriff found him they asked why he left and he told them he could tell by the look in my eye that had he taken another step in my direction I would have shot him. He later plead guilty to breaking and entering with the intent to cause harm. He got 2 years probation. My husband and I moved away and later that same year he broke into another neighbor's house, shot her husband and raped her. She was my friend. We had similar builds, same color eyes and hair and we're both young mothers. He had a record of rape and domestic violence.
This is a sad story, and I am sorry to hear about your friend. I AM glad to hear that in your own bravery this evil person saw something in you not to be trifled with, and backed down.

I was as well..stalked for about 2 years after..chased down highways, things left on doorstep, not nice things either..always feeling like he's watching...to this day tho, 30 years later, we've never lived more than 10 miles apart..my son n his dtr were friends in high school..I prob know more about him now than he knows about me..I don't live paranoid, just as cautious as any other woman I guess..hes moved on, drug free, good career, n now much older(60s) me too..do have trust issues tho but not just bc of him..

You have a temporary protective order hearing and then a final protective order hearing to where the defendant has a chance to defend theirselves. She probably had a temporary PO and never went to the final PO hearing

It's not twisted love, it's violent insecure man babies unable to deal with their own feelings and rejection. They take it all out on their ex or wife or girlfriend.
The criminal under the restraining order should have to petition the court to have it removed, NOT the other way around. Its disgusting how victims have to be revictimized over and over again just to protect their personal rights

You file for a restraining order and the accused is notified (served) and a court date is set where both parties are expected to appear. At that time you are to make your case as to why you filed and the judge decides if they will grant the restraining order. If you don’t show or the judge thinks your evidence is insufficient then it isn’t granted.
I have had a stalker for over 35 years and the police have never done anything to enforce the restraining orders. You can get a judge to give you a restraining order for longer periods of time. Sadly the police often do not enforce them. It's terrifying to live in constant fear. Amy's story is far too common and I hope the laws change and these stalking situations become obsolete one day. If the laws changed and the police enforced the restraining order that would help a lot. My heart goes out to all who suffer from dealing with stalkers.

You as a couple make an excellent true crime duo and I am really enjoying your channel. I do enjoy in depth documentaries, because they really dig deep into who the victim is/was, and the crime that stole their life from. But this also is a great channel because sometimes I just don't have the time to do that. I’m glad you started doing these longer format podcast videos because I enjoy long format videos because I listen to podcast while I work. I think that you both have a bright future with your channels and maybe could even move into a longer maybe hour hour and 20 minute long podcast on some deep dives into some of these crimes. That would give the people who want the crime in half the time, twice the crime in half the time, and just in-depth analysis of the some of the Crimes And events that you all would cover. You have a temporary protective order hearing and then a final protective order hearing to where the defendant has a chance to defend theirselves. She probably had a temporary PO and never went to the final PO hearing

I never got to meet Amie myself, but a lot of friends and people I worked with knew her. She was loved by all of them and her death really impacted them. RIP Amie ❤️

It's not twisted love, it's violent insecure man babies unable to deal with their own feelings and rejection. They take it all out on their ex or wife or girlfriend.
The criminal under the restraining order should have to petition the court to have it removed, NOT the other way around. Its disgusting how victims have to be revictimized over and over again just to protect their personal rights

You file for a restraining order and the accused is notified (served) and a court date is set where both parties are expected to appear. At that time you are to make your case as to why you filed and the judge decides if they will grant the restraining order. If you don’t show or the judge thinks your evidence is insufficient then it isn’t granted.

I have had a stalker for over 35 years and the police have never done anything to enforce the restraining orders. You can get a judge to give you a restraining order for longer periods of time. Sadly the police often do not enforce them. It's terrifying to live in constant fear. Amy's story is far too common and I hope the laws change and these stalking situations become obsolete one day. If the laws changed and the police enforced the restraining order that would help a lot. My heart goes out to all who suffer from dealing with stalkers.

You as a couple make an excellent true crime duo and I am really enjoying your channel. I do enjoy in depth documentaries, because they really dig deep into who the victim is/was, and the crime that stole their life from. But this also is a great channel because sometimes I just don't have the time to do that. You are always respectful to the victims and I like the way you talk about your own thoughts in between cases. Keep up the great work! 🙂

You guys do a great job me and my wife absolutely love your channel. I’m glad you started doing these longer format podcast videos because I enjoy long format videos because I listen to podcast while I work. I think that you both have a bright future with your channels and maybe could even move into a longer maybe hour hour and 20 minute long podcast on some deep dives into some of these crimes.
That would give the people who want the crime in half the time, twice the crime in half the time, and just in-depth analysis of the some of the Crimes And events that you all would cover. The only problem is you might have to come up with one more catchy slogan. Hahaha
