  • Here I will demonstrate a very simple and strong way to terminate a rope at the anchor

Very fast and secure way to tie a rope around a tree for a short safe repel.

Yep, I use it whenever I can. Thanks for watching

If I have a 150ft rope with an eye on one end, and I want to tie this tensionless anchor using the eye end and then attach a carabiner to it, could I just wrap the eye end around the tree like this, leave the rest of the 140ft rope in the bag, and connect my load directly to the eye end?

In theory, yes. In practice, you have to consider what kind of load you have, specifically whether it's a live load, meaning a person.
If it's a person, then I would tie it as in the video, because that means that the anchor is captured and there is no way that anchor can come undone. You can still use the sewn or spliced eye.
If you don't need the remaining 140 feet or so then just tie a figure of eight knot and clip into that. Or use both the sewn eye and a figure of eight knot and clip into both after wrapping several times. Just make sure they are both sharing the load equally.
There are many ways to skin this cat so have fun and experiment. But if you plan on having a live load you MUST follow safe practices which includes rated ropes and equipment.
As an aside , the tensionless actor is most commonly used for rappelling but there are other uses too.

@@perryfire3006 Gotcha, thank you. I don't plan on using it for a person, just as an anchor for hauling work in the woods. But I'll certainly play around with it and get comfortable before I put my trust in it.
I haven't played with ropes in the woods since I was a boy. I'm really looking forward to it :)

Maybe next time actually film the knots being made. Or publish in Braille.
