Hi, how lucky I’m I!. Started doing a Gadwall and you painting explanation works out just lovely for me, I will be using a taxidermy mount, but only for feather shape and colour. Great videos, keep them coming, we all need a little help now and then. Will you be doing a full decorative bird in the future? Cinnamon Teal? Northern Shoveler? Just an idea 😁
Thanks for the feedback and suggestions. I don’t really do full decorative carvings but I do have Northern Shoveler painting video available for sale on my web site at tomchristieart.com
That is a nice decoy. I wanted to ask if this style is what you would enter in the IWCA category? it looks similar to the ducks you had at Ocean City which I think you called the shooting category.. Can you explain about the IWCA and the shooting category and raised primaries and detailed bills etc. Thank you Tom Bruce Brandeberry
Yes, that would be an IWCA style bird which allows more detailed carving and painting than the gunning categories. Rather than me trying to explain the differences Bruce here is a link to the IWCA rules and you can read through the differences. Keep in mind that some shows are not IWCA, and have their own set of rules. internationalwildfowlcarvers.com/contest-rules
Good info and tips . Thanks so much for the hard work in making these videos . So I was wondering has there been any details for the world's competition for next year. I know there are a lot of changes with the university and other changes. Are they having the competition there next year, at the university grounds? Just curious. Thanks again and cheers.
The Ward Foundation has every intent to have the show again next year Lewis and have it at the Ocean City Convention Center as in the past. Salisbury University severed ties with the Ward Foundation so the university will not be involved. I know they are working on the details but have many things to resolve. We’ll all have to stay tuned as things progress.
Good seeing you back on here !... Thank you!
Thanks Hunter!
Another bird I would love to carve and thank you for showing how it should be done TC. 🙏🏻
You are welcome Baha. They are a beautiful bird!
