He's not wrong, but he's also not right. I'm a teacher, and I collect autographs. I prefer my stuff signed in blue - it just looks better. I don't sell my stuff unless I really need to. Most of it goes into my extensive collection. I brought my son to Fenway a month ago, and he came through the autograph line with me a couple times. I had stuff I wanted signed, but I had extras, and let him pick which ones he liked. They went into a shoebox in his closet for if he ever decides to collect sport stuff. So not all autograph collectors are bad and out to make a buck. Most that hang out day after day after day are, though.
Not me. I've never been eager to have another grown man sign something of mine it's insane if you think about it.

The whole autograph idea is so outdated. Its so odd and weird when you think hard on the idea. Wanting someone to put their name on an item.....like what, huh?
