Idek how or why my TH-cam recommended this or how I’m here but I saw the book cover and liked it and am interested in almost all the books. You explain things very well.
Yes- I cherry pick, and I don’t use all the things for all the kids. For this student I only used MBTP math, none of their other offerings. I select books from AO and CMEC based on what I think he’ll like/he hasn’t yet learned, and what fits within broader themes we may be covering. That’s why I often warn that I’m not “doing it right,” I am not a proper CM homeschooler, definitely eclectic!
I want my son to be able to do some of the reading, and Year 3 was too much for him this year so I figured the same would probably be true with year 4. 3.5 I really liked the books overall, but also I think he’ll actually be able to do some of the reading independently which is a major goal for me! (I do think he’ll really like the particular books this level has to offer though. Full disclosure I did not closely study Year 4 so I can’t really speak to those titles!)
There’s a jump from year 3 to 4 so they created 3.5 for those that may not be quite ready or those that have switched from other curriculum that aren’t used to these books. I went with year 4 but now wish I would have gone down.

Thank you so much! 🥰 Sometimes it’s interesting to see where the TH-cam algorithm takes us on an adventure lol
So you use various CM curriculums all together? CMEC, AO, Moving beyond the page…how do you juggle it all?

Can you explain why Ambleside has a year 3.5 or why you are doing that instead of year 4? These book selections look amazing!!! Maybe that's why!?
